Laura got off the phone and sat back down on the couch with Rob.
"You were on for a while!" he commented.
"I'm sorry, Rob! I do tend to stay on the phone awhile, when talking with a girlfriend!"
"It's OK, honey! I'm just kidding."
"Rob, Sally and Thomas Edson have really hit it off!"
"That's great! And we thought she'd eat him alive!"
"Yeah! Well, maybe opposites really do attract."
"Yeah—like a cat and a canary!"
"Right!"
They grew quiet and watched TV.
"Rob?" Laura asked, during a commercial break.
"Yeah, honey?"
"Could you do a little favor for me?"
"Sure, Laura, what is it?"
"Could you massage my feet?"
This surprised him. "Massage your feet?"
"Please? Sally told me that Tommy gave her a foot massage, and she really enjoyed it. So, I was thinking I might also like one."
"Sure, Laura, I'll do that."
"Thanks."
She slipped off her loafers and put her feet in his lap, and he began rubbing them.
"Oh, that does feel nice! Thank you, Rob!"
"Anytime, Laura! Any areas you want done?"
"Here. And here." She flexed her feet to show him where she wanted him to work on. She sighed happily.
"Our feet have more nerve endings in them than our hands," she said.
"Really?"
"That's what Tommy told Sally."
"I didn't know that!"
They continued to watch TV.
Their son came into the room. "Mommy, can I have a glass of milk, please?"
"Sure, Ritchie."
She got up and they went into the kitchen together. She gave him the milk, which he drank. Then she led him back into his bedroom and tucked him back into bed. Afterwards, she rejoined her husband.
"Ritchie asked me why I'm barefooted."
"Really? And what did you say?"
"I just said I felt like doing it. Then he told me I have pretty feet!"
"Well, you do, honey!"
She smiled. "Oh, Rob!"
They watched more TV, and he continued his massage. Then they went to bed.
