On My Way to You
Chapter 3
"What the hell kind of music are you listening to?" Damon asked as Elena narrowed her eyes at the comment trying to keep her focus on the open road in front of them.
"It's this lovely thing called pop music. Ever heard of it or have you been living under a rock these past few years?"
"Oh, I've heard of it, I just think it's the human version of garbage. Like how basic could you get, Gilbert?" Damon asked as he reached for the dial and she smacked his hand away earning her a look of utter shock from him.
"What did you do that for?"
"Have you ever seen the hit show Supernatural?"
"Who hasn't? What does this have to do with you slapping my hand?"
"In the words of the great Dean Winchester 'Driver picks the music; Shotgun shuts his cakehole'" she answered turning up her music to see the sheer annoyance on his face. Maybe this trip would be better than she thought.
"Well that's a shitty rule. I don't want to listen to this music all the way there."
"Well you can switch it when it's your turn to drive."
"You mean you'll actually let me drive your car."
"When I'm tired of driving of course. I want to cover as much road as possible before we stop for the night. Which means switching drivers every few hours, so no one gets tired."
"Sounds like a good idea, but while we're talking about plans here, can I ask you a question?"
"Go for it."
"What do you hope to accomplish on this trip?"
"To have the time of my life obviously."
"And what does that entitle?"
"I guess we'll see when we get around to that. I didn't really plan anything out for this."
"Alright let's try this what is something you haven't done before?"
"You'd laugh."
"No, I wouldn't. Now come on, what's one of the biggest things you want to do on this trip?"
"Fine. I've never been to a festival. Or a concert. Ice skating also sounds nice. Some bowling. Let's just say I haven't really lived my life to the fullest."
"So, what you're telling me is that you've never really lived?"
"Just because I haven't done anything you find relevant doesn't mean I don't have fun."
"Watching Netflix in your pajamas all day isn't everyone's idea of fun Elena. Have you ever wanted to try out someone else's version of fun before?"
"Why do you think I wanted to go on this road trip to begin with? I'm about to start college and I've never stepped outside of my comfort zone and it bothers me."
"Well lucky for you. I'm here to push you out of your comfort zone. The real question is what experience should we do first."
"Right now, I want to pull over and find a rest stop so I can go pee."
"Sounds like a good idea. I can look at things to do in the area while you're doing your business."
"Sounds awesome." Elena answered pulling into a gas station and getting out to use the restroom wondering what wacky adventure that Damon would pick for them first.
