Chapter 3: Goodnight & Good morning

Lucy helps Maka get up from the ground while Soul stands up on his own. This is a perfect time to apologize and so she does. She makes it appropriate for everyone to know that Soul and herself are deeply sorry for the inconvenience by walking in the middle of the line of mages.

"Soul and I are sincerely sorry for our actions!" Maka blurts out and bows. She then notices that Soul that looks so neutral, without a care in the world. She responds by forcing him to bow to show the slightest bit of sincerity.

"Ow!" He whimpered.

They both return to stand and see comfortable similes which is relieving to know that their apology is heard.

"We accept your apology, Maka. Now I think it's best that we introduce ourselves, you already know mine." Era stated.

"Hey, I'm Grey," he said with a subtle wave.

"I'm Natsu Dragneel!" He exclaimed with a signature toothy grin of his.

"Hi my name is Wendy Marvel. It's very nice to meet you both." She said with a smile and a wave.

"Hello my name is Carla." the exceed said with a soft smile."

"And I'm Happy!" the flying feline said with an optimistic laugh.

The weapon and meister looked at each other with utter confusion and shock. The only magical cat they've seen was Blair but they've never seen her fly with wings. They would have to ask her about this later.

"Hey, by the way, I overheard you guys were trying to find Death City." Soul remarked.

Wendy had then taken this opportunity to ask Soul, "Would you mind showing us where it's at, if it's not too much to ask." Assuming he knew of the place.

Maka then steps in and informs, "Actually we live there and you guys aren't too far from it and we would be more than welcome to show you."

Everyone was pleased to know that these strangers who they just met had started as a threat, became what they can call each other comrades. Along the way to Death City, the DWMA students and the Fairy Tail mages have learned more about each other and how much of a difference they are from one another than what they originally thought to be.

The mages find that the Academy Maka and Soul go to, teach them in order to become one of Death's weapons you must kill a Witch and Witches use magic. Although it may sound that death is immoral he does want good for the world to be at peace. By doing so he founded the academy for weapons and meisters to defeat those who stray away from humanity and become kishin.

On the other hand, Maka and Soul learn that magic is in common use in the town of Magnolia. What the academy does is exactly what guilds do all over Fiore to protect to help, protect, and overall have an incredible amount of time being a mage, which you can make money from. For the Fairy Tail mages, being a part of a guild means you're a part of a family.

At this point Soul, Maka, and Team Natsu have just entered Death City, which at first seemed to have an eerie atmosphere with the same white walls and musky colored roofs. The homes are shaped with sharp points and some of them even have small towers with or on top of them! The cobblestone flooring they stand on is like a maze that includes stares and turns. The whole structure of the town is like a sundae and the cherry on top is the academy as the finishing piece. Giant lit candles are sticking in every different direction and three humongous skulls right in the center of it.

The mages exasperated their reaction with Ooo's and Aww's.

"Wow! This is where you guys live? It's just right out of a book!" Lucy exclaimed with excitement.

"I know, it's cool right?" Soul smirked.

Erza breaks in, "As amazing as this is I'm afraid this is where we depart."

"Aw really? It was really nice to know you guys." Maka said with a frown.

"But hey! Don't get too bummed out! Maybe after our mission, we might just come around to say hi." Natsu interjected.

"Well we better get going, it is getting late after all," Soul called out.

"Right, well I wish you all a goodnight," Maka commented as her Soul walked back to their house.

"See ya," said Soul.

The mages smiled and waved until it was time to check into the hotel for the night. There are always complications with getting a hotel with Team Natsu as if there are enough rooms or if they allow Carla and Happy in. However things went simpler this time where all they had to do was wait at the front desk while their room was getting set up.

Once it was, they took a spiral staircase up to the top to the tower. The lady said something about this room is mostly available with guests for a big family and she left. The beds were queen sized and vertical on the left side of the wall and on the other side there was a pull-out couch. On one of the beds Kate's were five gender neutral, two piece set pajamas.

The pajamas were with a collared black long sleeve shirt with a skull imprint on the end of the right side of the shirt. The pants were long and extended all the way down to their feet. The pajamas were rather comfortable and seemed to be made out of cotton.

The mages easily got relaxed with the room. Erza was brushing her hair, Wendy was talking with the exceeds, Grey was already passed out on the pull-out, and Lucy was thinking intensely out of the window and fidgeting with her fingers.

Natsu, obviously, notices her and inquiries, "Hey Lucy, what's up?" he studs there shifting his head a little to the left.

"Oh it's nothing really…" she looks up at him through his reflection of the window. Natsu furrows his brows in concern and Lucy continues "I was just thinking about everything but mostly what had happened out in the forest and what this could mean for Fairy Tail."

One thing Natsu admires about Lucy is how caring and forgiving she can be. She's worried and she doesn't need to be, he knows this could keep her all night. So he tries to lift her spirits by literally lifting her up.

"H-Hey! W-What are you?" she stutters and kicks her legs.

He drops her on the bed and begins to playfully tickle her while giving her a mischievous toothy grin. Lucy can't admit to giggle.

"s-TOP Natsu! T-HAt… tickles!" she begins to laugh hysterically and so does Natsu when she starts to tickle him back.

This moment is ended when Erza gets everyone's attention and announces, "Master is calling!" Everyone pays attention and watches Makarov's face being projected onto the wall by the lacrima.

"Good evening Team Natsu, now before I get started I would like to know your location," ordered Makarov.

"We're in Death City, Master," Erza spoke.

"Great, that makes things easier. You and other Fairy Tail mages will begin teaching at the Death's Weapon and Meister Academy, DWMA for short. In the morning tomorrow, you will meet Death at his academy. He should have plans for you and what to do."

"But what about our Mission?" Natsu questioned.

"The Strauss siblings will take care of it."

"Aw! There goes my rent money." Lucy whined.

"Oh? Did I not tell you? For each week you teach at the DWMA you each get 10,000 jewel."

A small squeal from Lucy can be heard in the distance of her and Natsu's bed.

"How long will we be teaching at the DWMA?" Era asked.

"That's up for Death to decide. Have fun kiddos and be on your best behavior!" Master Makarov ended.

Lucy giggled as teased, "You know at last bit was for you and Grey, right?"

"Yeah," Natsu grumbled and rolled his eyes.

The mages all share a laugh and Erza informs, "Alright now, It's best for us to sleep as we all have a big day ahead of us."

Her and Wendy slip in the bed and the exceeds flies back to their respective Dragon Slayers. Lights are off.

Natsu whispers in Lucy's ear with a snicker, "Goodnight, Luce."

"Goodnight, Natsu." She also whispers in his ear with a kiss to his cheek. He returns the favor with his own on her forehead. You can't see it in the dark but there is a slight touch on each of their cheeks.

Natsu puts one arm under Lucy and brings her closer to him and rests his head on hers and resting on Natsu's head is Happy. All sleeping peacefully.

With Maka & Soul

"Ah...Home sweet home!" Mama exclaims as she jumps on the couch

"You're pathetic, I hope you know that." Soul insults

"Shut up," She groans. Soul walks to his door room and stops when she continues, "Goodnight, Soul."

However, he doesn't say it back and instead closes his door. He picks up his guitar hanging on the left side of his wall and plays with the strings. He does so for hours on end and doesn't keep track of the time because once he looks up it's about to be one in the morning.

He places the guitar back and comes out of his room to turn off the lights in the living room. He notices Maka passed out on the couch and does what any good partner does and picks her up carefully.

Soul does so in bridle style so it would be easier to place her down in her bed.

"You're such a dumbass." He curses as he tucks her into bed

"Goodnight, Maka."

Time skip into the morning

Soul sleeps in and Maka, the early bird that she is, knocks on his door and reminds, "Soul, time to wake up and put on some clothes! I made breakfast."

On the way to school

"You call toast breakfast?" Soul complains. She rolls her eyes

The two students are running up the stairs to the DWMA when they notice a huge crowd of students. They pick up the pace and reach the front of the crowd to see what's going on.

"And these Fairy Tail mages will help teach you what it means to be a mage and the difference of one to a Witch. Treat them with respect as they will show you how to use some magic that will help you in defeating kishin and witches!"

Soul and Maka were shocked, to say the least. Their mouths dropped to the floor and the eyes burst out of their skulls. What a morning!
