Fairy Tail x Soul Eater
Chapter 11: Spiders, Flys, and Mosquitoes! Oh My!
—
After a few minutes of persuasion, Soul was in his blue and white bones pattern boxers.
"Great, now what?" he asked unenthusiastically.
Gray smirked and looked up at the snowing sky in remembrance of his old, now deceased, master Ur as he too would complain about the cold. Even though her techniques we're strange, she did teach him everything he needed to know about Ice Maker Magic.
"Sit down, close your eyes, and I want you to concentrate on the cold along with your magic power."
Soul obliged on his orders and went into his headspace of meditation. Almost instantly he fell in it and his past. The black blood, the little devil, Medusa, Arachne, The Kishin, but most importantly he remembered how weak he felt.
He was then transported in his memory to his first encounter with Arachne. Their battle was tougher than they thought with the golem. Make was unable to move midway through the fight because Arachne strings of silk. He could have fought on his own but from what he had learned previously, he's not nearly as strong on his own without Maka.
If it weren't Justin Law or even Crona who knows what would have happened.
"Amazing, he's the same kind of weapon I am, and he did all that by himself. With my meister embolized like this, I can't even fight. All I can do is sit here and hold her." *
In that memory, Soul didn't feel cool, in fact, he felt helpless. Which in the long run, had probably made it easier to give in to the little devil who offered him power.
He was recalled back into that dark room with the repetitive jazz music, and his fears. He remembered the dream that leads him into the black room of going into the light, which in hindsight seems like a good thing. Not in Soul's case, however, because going into the light had meant stretching out of Maka's stomach.
Soul's eyes shot open and he was drenched in sweat. Gray was watching him the entire time and studying his movements. He knew it was time to move on to the next phase of training.
"You alright?" Gray concerns.
The white hair scythe nods firmly to assure him that he is. Gray then pulls him up from the ground to standing.
Much to Soul's discomfort as he declares, "I can't get up by myself you know!"
"Sure you can, but anyways let's start some actual training and see how you do."
Soul fixes his posture and his tense eyebrows to be prepared for anything.
"Now I want ya to copy me," Gray instructs.
He makes his dominant left hand into a tight fist and places his other hand under it like a table for his prominent hand.
Soul as instructed copies Gray with his dominant hand over his non-dominant hand.
"Good, now this time do it again but now focus on your magic ability then chant, Ice-Make Cube!"
Soul closes his eyes and does the gesture slowly then breathes in.
"Ice-Make Cube!"
Much to his disappointment, he is faced with the cold truth of there being nothing but snow, wind, and no ice.
"Yeah, I didn't expect it to happen on the first try." Soul continues.
"Keep on trying." Gray encourages.
Souls goes on with this and his patience gets shorter every try. Every attempt he makes ends up either him turning into his weapons form, nothing happens at all, or he does actually get some ice out with tiny pieces that backfire at him
"Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Fuck!" Soul curses with the last try getting some ice in his eye.
"Hey, I think it's about time we go back," Gray tells him, trying to calm him down.
Soul drops his form and sighs down to the ground.
"Yeah, I don't want to leave lookin' like a cyclops, even though now that I think about it may look cool." he chuckles.
Gray nervously laughs along with him, hoping he isn't serious. He then looks down at the pillowy white ground and notices one of Soul's ice shards.
"Hey you go on without me, I'll catch up."
Soul shrugs while picking up his clothes then says, "Okay, I'll see you down there."
Once Soul is away from Gray's sight, he picks up the chip and examines it. He almost gets confused for a piece of glass because of how clearly white it is. On closer inspection, however, you can see an undertone of red similar to his unusually colored eyes.
After finding his clothes; Gray picks up the ice, then puts it in his pocket and begins to walk down the mountain. Unbeknownst to himself or Soul they are in for a fight.
Meanwhile…
Out front of the DWMA stood three Dragon Slayers and a good number of students that included Maka, Death the Kid, and Blackstar.
"My name's Gajeel and just like these two I'm a Dragon Slayer but I specialize in Iron," he beamed.
Blackstar looked over to his weapon partner, Tsubaki with a proud grin and a thumbs up. She herself smiled on the sidelines who was solely there to be his cheerleader.
Wendy cheerfully spoke, "Great, now that everyone's here, we're going to split up into three-"
She was caught off by a shriek of terror of one of the students who pointed behind the Dragon Slayers. That caught the rest of the student's attention who panicked and slowly backed away from their teachers.
To the mages revival of a massive swarm of bugs that made it hard to see the rest of the city. There were many flying insects that only consisted of mosquitoes and the common fly.
The pink pyro ignited a flame that colored a violent red to just above his elbow.
He was the first to attack as he to the left of him towards the swarm of bugs and shouted, "Fire Dragon Iron Fist!"
The flock had made room for his attack and enclosed it to push him down the many stairs. His screams became distant and faint from the loud buzzing.
"Gihi what a dumbass!" Gajeel cracked.
His laugh stopped until one part of the swarm punched him leaving an insane amount of small bites on his left cheek.
"Hey! You want a piece of me?!" he threatened while itching intensely.
"Gajeel, that's only going to make it worse…" Wendy commented.
"The only thing that's going to be worse than this is how bad I'm going to treat these little pests!"
The moment he said that the bugs shaped themselves into a gigantic spider.
"Oh so you can listen to me? We then listen to this, c'mon Wendy!"
"Iron Dragon, "
"Sky Dragon, "
"ROAR!" they chanted in unison of a dark grey and light blue colors shot at the bottoms of the four spiders legs.
A chuck of the pests died while the rest flew around to torment the students.
"Crap…" Gajeel swore.
"Uh...Ga-JEEL!" Wendy panicked.
He had looked to his fellow Dragon Slayer to see her being picked up from the ground by her pigtails from the insects.
"Don't worry Blackstar's here!" Blackstar himself boasted.
He flew Tsubaki in her ninja star form at the pests who let Wendy go and into the arms of Gajeel. Luckily, she was safe but her hair was now meeting the bottom of her shoulders.
Seeing Blackstar showing his bravery, the meisters that had their weapon with them begin to help fight. Some were unfortunate enough that didn't have their weapon or meister counterpart and one of those people was Maka.
Maka questioned using her weapon side even though she refuses at all costs as she hardly uses it and she prefers herself as a meister. Striving for Soul to be home she makes her way there down to the stairs.
Unlike herself, she isn't cautious at all and she doesn't see a dark chuck following her. It morphs into a pair of hands reaching out to her planning to grasp at her body once she slows down at the stairs.
It's inches away from her flowing pigtails. The right hand is focused on her hair with the reaching for her body.
Maka finally steps down her first step and the hands clasped together like claws of a prey.
She closes her green eyes and she doesn't need to see something dark looming over her nor does she need to feel her being held together.
"Soul..."
He held her against his chest with his arms wrapping around her, and rested his left hand under his right fist. Then placed his chin on the top of her head.
"Ice-Make Wall!" he exclaimed quickly.
A wall-like structure was formed in front of them with it being short and sideways around them almost like a sphere.
Maka gripped on his jacket and asked, "Where were you?"

I hope you all enjoyed and you have no idea how much I had to pay attention to Soul's Hands during the first few episodes I had to re-watch to find if Soul is either right or left-handed!
Be safe and secure!
