Chapter 6: New MissionHey y'all I'm so glad you loved the last chapter.

Logan's heart felt as if it stopped in that moment. It's happening. It's happening all over again. Everything started flooding back but Logan knew he had to keep it together. The brunette sat up straight in his conference chair and watched Kendall sit next to a young blonde woman he'd never seen before.

"Great to meet you, Agent Mitchell." Kendall smirked, outstretched his hand across the mahogany table towards Logan to mockingly shake his hand. Logan merely looked at his hand and rolled his eyes. Kendall retracted his hand, still smirking.

"Great! Now that we're all acquainted, lets move onto the mission objective." Reid clicked a button on the remote and presented a blue holographic screen. "Recently, we've received intel about the Russian mafia and the Mexican Drug Cartel and how they have been working together with some rogue biochemists and developed a new drug. It goes by the name "Flame". It's a tiny blue pill that could be mistaken for a over-the-counter drug. They've been circulating samples around the black market to check for financiers." Director Reid had Jo passing out all of the briefing folders. She gave one to Logan with a chipper smile and the brunette took it barely paying her any attention.

"Any intel on what the drug is capable of?" James asked. He sat towards the end of the table with a few other agents in the room.

"We've been told that its a complex drug. While it takes on the qualities of a psychedelic drug, it also is a behavioral and addictive drug. It gives its user a tingly, burning sensation. It has killed five people already. We don't have full details on the effects of the drugs or to what extent the effects will go to but once we gain more knowledge about it, we'll inform you." All the agents present took notes onto their writing pads or iPhones and other such things as the new director spoke.

"Here are some of our direct suspects who've been claimed to have ties to the facilitation of the drug and that we have yet to detain. Freidrich Klovecty of the Russian Mafia, Vincenzo Sarfati, the Mob, and Robert Hunt, a former KGB agent who went rogue. On the screen were three photos of the three men listed. Logan studied the profiles for a good five seconds before their faces were engrained in his memory. He turned to look around the room when he found himself staring at Kendall who looked he was going to throw up any second.

"Now, agents I - Agent Knight where are you going?"

Kendall got up from his chair and ran out of the conference room, leaving everyone in the room confused. Logan thought maybe he should get up and check on him but as he was about to do so, he watched the blonde woman, assuming she's was Kendall's new flame, Jo, stand up from her seat and excuse herself following Kendall out of the room. Logan stiffened up a bit as he saw the blonde woman run after Kendall. He couldn't completely deny his jealousy but anyone could tell seeing Kendall with someone else was a little hard to be okay with considering the blonde spy used to pursue him so fervently.

"Let's continue, agents." Director Reid said bringing everyone's attention away from the door and back to the screen.

Logan walked out of the conference room and was going to head to his office but saw Kendall and Jo down the hall, talking. He watched on with a burning jealousy in his heart. He wished things had turned out differently but they didn't. He has Jeff now, but why wasn't that enough? He crept closer to the area where the two were talking being cautious as to not be seen.

He could hear them saying something about one of the men on the screen.

"I just never thought I'd see...him...again." Kendall said sotto voce. Logan figured whoever it was had a great enough impact on Kendall to make him feel vulnerable.

"It's ok, sweetie." Jo said sweetly. Every word she said made Logan's stomach churn. He couldn't bare to listen to anymore. As quietly as he could, Logan tip-toed backwards until he bumped into something. He turned and saw that it was James.

"Oh, James! I didn't see you there."

"Of course you didn't. It's called the element of surprise. Eavesdropping, are we?" James asked crossing his arms.

"Just doing what I do best." Logan

crossed him arms. An awkward silence overcame the two which led Logan to quickly end it. This was the first time they'd spoken to each other in three weeks.

"James I -","Logan I -" They said simultaneously. Logan sighed with a smile. "You first." He said.

"Look, I've been really irrational in how I've been treating you. I know I should've told you but I just wanted to spare you the pain of knowing that Kendall died but is somehow alive again and all that stuff. I'm really, really, really sorry and I know sorry doesn't do it, but I'm willing to make it up to you in anyway possible! Please just don't hate me. I can't take losing my brother. I mean it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world, but I mean it would be up there with a family member dying or losing a pet and —"

"Geez, anyone tell you that you ramble when you're apologetic?" James smiled with a sigh." I forgive you. I hope you can forgive me too. We both played a part in this. I shouldn't have reacted so harshly. Of course, I had the right too but I understand you were just trying to protect me." Logan leaned forward and hugged James tightly. "Friends?"

"Brothers." James said firmly with a smile on his face. It felt good to be on better terms with each other. They released each other and smiled. Logan and James began walking back towards Logan's office to which he hadn't been in since a few days prior to him taking maternity leave. Logan grabbed the keys from his pocket and inserted it into to the lock, turning it and opening the door to his office.

"Wow. Nothing's changed. " Logan said taking in the familiar scent of his office. It was a scent of Lysol and a hint of vanilla. James shut the door behind him and sat on the small couch over by the wall.

"So, what's next for Agent Logan Mitchell?" James sat back and kicked his legs up on the coffee table in front of him.

"Well, for one, I'm gonna find out everything I can on this Robert Hunt guy. If anyone is gonna get credit for this mission, it's damn well gonna be me and not that bastard, Knight." Logan sat down at his desk and turned on his computer. Once on, he began typing in the names of his suspects into the database. James sat up looking rather confused as to why Logan said he wanted the credit.

"Loges, you've never accepted a mission for the credit of it. You did it because you loved it. Why the sudden change?"

"Because I'm done, James. I'm done being the crybaby, the dude in distress, the one who needs rescuing." James sighed." Have you seen my track record, I've had to be saved on more than one occasion. I mean, I was such a wuss in the last story. For a second there, I was wondering if I was gonna have to start buying tampons from how emotional I was. " Logan rambled on as James sat there looking really confused at what Logan meant by 'the last story' and 'tampons' but he just went along with it.

"My point is, " Logan continued" I wanna be my own hero. I want it to be how it used to be, where I was kicking ass and taking names and just being the true Logan." James watched as Logan typed and scrolled away on his computer, still in amazement about everything Logan was saying.

"Have you ever thought the "True Logan" was a facade to keep out everything you're afraid of facing?"

"It's what we're trained to do, James." Logan said looking his brother directly in the eyes.

"Yeah it is. We're trained to keep our emotions from affecting our missions but not our personal lives." James sighed." We may be spies, but we're still human."

"Since you know me so well, why don't you tell me what I'm afraid of?" Logan said going back to typing.

"Okay! You're afraid to face the real, raw emotions you felt whenever Kendall was around." Logan immediately stopped typing only staring at the screen in front of him. "You're afraid to feel everything that came with being vulnerable because there was that one person who could get under your skin enough to actually make you feel something other than the adrenaline rush of chasing some criminal."

"That's not true." Logan said softly.

"Isn't it?" James stood up and started pacing the floor. "My thing is, don't be in such a rush to try and be this "Real Logan" when you don't know who the real Logan is." James opened the door to the office and walked out, shutting the door behind him. Logan sighed to himself and returned to work.

After hours and hours of doing research on the suspects in his mission and only one bathroom break, Logan decided it was time to close up shop and head home. He found out mostly everything he needed to know about the people involved and anything else he didn't get to he printed out and put it in his briefing folder. He checked his watch and saw that he needed to go get Andy from Carlos and James' house. Since Carlos wasn't a field agent yet, he was able to watch Andy on his day off while Logan got back into the swing of things.

Logan shut down his computer and turned off his lamp. He walked out of his office and shut the door, locked it, and tapped it to double check. He looked around and saw that many of the daytime agents were filing out while the night shift agents were coming in and settling in. He began his walk to the parking garage but stopped to glance over the area where Kendall worked. He noticed the cubicle was slightly cluttered but controlled. Logan continued to the garage until he made it to his car, got in and sped off to his stepbrother's house.

Logan managed to pick up Andy in thirty minutes after thanking Carlos and making sure Andy was safely secured in his carrier in the backseat. Logan began heading to his house when he felt a strange feeling inside him. It was like a little voice telling him to go the other way, away from his home.

Though, he stubbornly fought the voice, Logan grudgingly made a U turn, heading to the one place he really didn't want to go.

Twenty minutes later, the brunet spy found himself ringing the doorbell to Kendall's apartment. He adjusted the baby carrier to make sure it was leveled. Logan brushed himself over with his free hand, feeling nervous all over again. Soon enough the door opened to reveal gruff-looking Kendall in a white T-shirt and black sweatpants. He looked like he'd just been woken up. Seeing Logan at his doorstep looking rather flustered was probably one of the least expected things he thought would happen.

"What are you doing here?"

"I, um, I brought you a surprise. Can I come in?" Logan looked up at the blonde pulling the covered baby carrier into full view so Kendall would get the picture. Kendall's eyes widened a little at seeing the carrier. He stepped aside, allowing Logan entry. Logan walked in the apartment trying to repress the memories of from when he was last there.

He took a seat on the couch and waited for Kendall to come along.

Soon enough, the blonde entered the room, taking a seat next to Logan.

"I've been thinking lately and I decided that you're as much a part of the reason this baby's here as I am and I have no right to keep him away from you. I guess I just wanted to hurt you as much as you hurt me." Logan twiddled his fingers nervously. "I don't want our son to go through life not knowing who you are all because I'm being spiteful."

Logan picked up the carrier lightly and gently set it on the other side of himself. He flipped the small blanket and unfastened that held Andy safely in the carrier. He rubbed gently grasped the baby's head and body lifting him slowly out of the carrier.

"Hey pooh bear, wanna meet someone? Yeah, let's meet someone." Kendall felt his heart speed up ten times with each passing second. It was racing from the nervousness of meeting his son for the first time.

"Kendall, meet your son, Andy Landon Knight." Logan smiled cradling the newborn in his arms and slowly passing him to Kendall, who gasped at the contact. As Kendall held his baby in his hands, he began to feel tears well up in his eyes. He looked over every part of him and noticed how much his son resembled himself. All of a sudden Kendall began to cry, tears the size of raindrops rolling down his cheeks as he felt the all undeniable love he had for his son. Logan soon started to shed a few tears himself at the sight he'd always dreamed of seeing. Kendall managed to start smiling through his tears and started interacting with the baby who was smiling up at his father.

"Hi there, buddy. Hi, I'm your daddy." Kendall brought the baby up and kissed him on his cheeks making the baby smile and coo more. "I love you. I love you so much. I'm never gonna let you go." Kendall looked up at Logan, red eyes and all.

"Logan...Thank you. Thank you for letting me see my son." He held Andy close to him and kissed the top of his head. " I'm sorry about everything I ever said before. The whole abortion thing—"

"Shhhh...it's ok." Logan rubbed his back. "It's in the past now. What matters is he's here now, happy and healthy."

"I don't know how to do this. I don't know how to be a dad." Kendall said sniffling.

"I don't either, but we'll just take it step by step. I want you in his life, Kendall."Kendall smiled lightly at that statement. If Kendall had any animosity towards Logan before, it all disappeared. Kendall slowly and gently passed Andy back to Logan who cradled him and put him back in his carrier. Andy started to fuss but Logan rocked the carrier a bit and made shushing noises to help calm him.

"I didn't wanna continue to drown him in my tears." Kendall chuckled. "That was the best surprise I've ever had." Logan smiled at his ex's confession he made sure Andy was tucked in before turning back to Kendall.

"We can start working out when I can come by with him or when you can come over to visit. You're more than welcome to stop by anytime and check on him."

"l like the sound of that." Logan leaned over and hugged Kendall. Surprisingly, Kendall hugged him back. The two let go of each other and smiled. Logan stood up looking at his watch and realizing it was getting late.

"I gotta get going so I can put this little one to sleep otherwise I won't get any form of sleep tonight." Logan chuckled. They both headed to the door and Kendall opened it for them.

"I'll call you and we'll plan everything." Logan said smiling. He noticed that Kendall's eyes were fixated on the carrier so he brought the carrier up to Kendall. "You wanna say goodbye?" Logan asked and he nodded.

"Bye Andy. I love you, more than anything." Kendall kissed Andy's tiny little feet.

"We'll see you later, Kendall." Logan said and Kendall nodded with a big smile. Logan began walking away to the elevator. Once they were out Kendall's view, he walked back into his apartment smiling from ear to ear, excited about getting to know his son.
