Chapter 7: Jealous, much?
Please read the A/N at the end. There's some exciting news! If you find any grammar or spelling errors, it's most likely not intentional.
Kendall woke up with a smile the next day. He'd just met his son the night before and still couldn't believe it. Though he wouldn't admit it out loud, he thought his life was beginning to turn around. After the entire faking his own death debacle, the CIA offered him a chance of redemption. If he was to stay in good graces with the new director and solve this case, the CIA would offer him official reinstatement. If he doesn't comply with those conditions, he will be taken into custody for treason. With these drastic measures, Kendall always makes sure his nose is squeaky clean. It wasn't easy to get them to make a deal with them but due to his charisma and his one night stand with the case manager, Linda..or was her name Lisa? Lenora? Whatever her name was, she pulled some strings to get a deal cut for him.
Kendall walked into the bathroom, admiring himself in the mirror. He turned on the shower and stripped off his T-shirt and boxers. Testing the water to make sure it was warm, he stepped in and allowed the warmth to wash over him. He poured the body wash into his palm and lathered it over his body. The shower was his place to think and right about now he was thinking about Jo. They had just started seeing each other. They weren't exactly exclusive but everyone knew that they were an item. Kendall knew she was just a place holder in his life. It's not that he didn't like Jo. She just wasn't his true love. He had a certain someone else in mind for that role and eventually wanted to make his move again.
All this thinking, the warmth of the shower, and the way Kendall rubbed his body as he washed, got him excited in his lower region. He slowly stroked himself to a full erection, imagining the blonde girl stepping into the shower with him. In his mind, Jo kissed him with such fiery passion it made his head spin. He closed his eyes as she used her tongue to map out his mouth. He had never not been in control, so he quickly took over the kiss and used his tongue to map out her mouth, which he imagined tasted like something sweet but he couldn't place his finger on it. When he opened his eyes, a certain brunette was pulling away from the kiss. The mental image of the naked brunette in the shower with him was enough to getting him closer to edge as he stroked his length from tip to base. Logan looked at him with lustful eyes that Kendall always loved to see. Logan kissed his way down Kendall's body and back up.
"Fuck yeah, Logie." Dream Logan gripped Kendall's cock gently and began tugging with fierce passion. Kendall jerked faster as dream Logan moaned in his thoughts until streams of his seed hit the shower floor. He panted as he finished stroking out his climax. That was his first sexual dream of Logan in a while. He had plenty of sexual dreams of them together but this was the first time he's thought about them since he's been with someone else. After coming down from his orgasm, he continued washing until he deemed himself clean.
After getting dressed and eating breakfast, Kendall grabbed his keys, phone, and wallet and headed to his car. Once in the vehicle, he sped off to headquarters. Kendall thought a lot about Andy as he drove. He thought about how the infant favored him in appearance and would hopefully have his qualities. He thought of him growing up to be a hockey player as he himself had always wanted to be but that got cut short for obvious reasons. What troubled him even more, was the thought of not being a good dad. His father was not a good father to him, so, he didn't want to be that same way to Andy. Kendall turned on the radio to get his mind off of his dad and continued on his way to HQ.
Logan walked out to his car, coffee mug in one hand and his phone, wallet, keys and baby carrier in the other. Logan loved the smell of the dew in the morning. He felt better about going to see Kendall yesterday. He's still a bit wary of being around him, still not sure of how he got back to work considering he did commit a felony so bad that it could more like should get him life in a federal prison.
The brunette spy got Andy settled in the backseat and got in the driver's seat and started up the car. He pulled out of the driveway and slowly drove up the street, honking his horn at Jeff as he was getting in his own car. Things had been going well with Jeff so far. He and Logan had been taking it a bit slower and actually getting to know each other rather than rushing into things. And Logan liked it. He enjoyed getting to know Jeff for who he was and not just immediately diving into things like he did with Kendall. Logan looked in the mirror to check on Andy when his phone rang. He looked at the screen and saw it was Carlos, so he answered immediately.
"Hey 'Los, what's up?" Logan greeted cheerfully.
"Hey Logan, is now a bad time?" Logan noticed something different in Carlos' tone, which caused him to worry.
"Oh no, what is it?" Logan asked, already in disappointment.
"I won't be able to watch Andy today. I just got called into HQ about a mission over-night in Moscow. It's my first mission out in the field."
"What?! Carlos! That's amazing!"
"I know, right?! James can't believe it either. Wait, you're not mad?" Carlos asked.
"No, why would I be? This is your first field experience. I just wish I knew ahead of time. I'm just gonna have to bring Andy with me and put him in the CIA nursery."
"Oh. that's a thing?" Carlos asked, confused.
"Yeah, Janice from down the hall is running it. And though I really didn't want to do that, I'll just have to grin and bear it."
"Aw Loges, I'm sorry. I can tell Director Reid that I can't take on this mission."
"NO! It's not that bad. I'll just leave him with Janice and make sure she's got everything sanitized. You just go have fun in the field!"
"If you say so. I gotta get running, the jet's about to leave."
"Okay, love you, Litos. Be safe."
"Love you too, Loges. Give Andy a kiss for me."
"Will do." Logan hung up the phone and groaned, now focused on his drive to work.
Logan made it to work on time but because Andy started fussing due to the fact that he'd spit his pacifier out, Logan soon became ten minutes late. Even though, he was the top spy, who could do almost anything he wanted, he still liked being on time for work. He walked into the office, baby carrier in tow, as he headed to the in-office daycare. The carrier in his hand caused everyone to stare and even worse, the women to stop him to gather around to see Andy. After pushing through the hordes of women, he had finally made it to the daycare. He knocked gently on the door, smiling when Janice opened the door. She was a five-foot-five middle aged woman, with auburn hair, blue eyes, and a bright, beautiful smile.
"Agent Mitchell! How unexpected! I didn't think you'd be back to work so soon. I thought you'd be at home on maternity leave." Janice greeted.
"In this line of work, you don't get much down time. Whether you're finally catching some sleep or popping a baby out, you gotta be right back up."
"Don't I know it? So, who's this little one?"
"This is my little Andy." he lifted up the blanket and allowed her to see the baby who was sucking on his pacifier and looking around confused. "I'm working on a new case and my brother-in-law had to bail on watching him today, which meant I had to bring him here."
"No worries, Agent Mitchell. Andy will be just fine here. We don't usually take newborns because their immune systems can't fight off big people germs. How old is he?"
"He's two months today."
"Oh, honey, that's more than enough time. There's a feature in the room that I think you may like. It was especially designed to sanitize itself every 5 minutes with an invisible laser. Also, I can probably say that this little fella won't be doing too much walking around."
"Well, I'll leave him with you and head on over to my office." Logan said, lifting the carrier and placing it on the table in the room. He raised the tiny blanket and looked at his son. Logan didn't really want to leave his son with someone else but he also knew he wouldn't get much done if he stayed in the office with him.
"Come 'ere, Pooh bear. I love you so much and I'm gonna be right down the hall...and so is daddy. You be good for Janice. I'll be back for you later." Logan kissed Andy's cheek, making him coo. He placed him back in the carrier. After telling Janice all of the details of how to take care Andy, and her assuring him that everything would be ok, Logan walked out of the room trying not to cry. It seems whenever he had to be separated. It wasn't as bad with Carlos since he could trust him. But this was the first time he was leaving Andy with someone else and he was trying to be ok with it. He walked out and looked through the window at Janice and watched her pick Andy up and sit with him on her lap.
He felt a tear roll down his cheek. Logan wiped it away, attempting to be okay with walking away.
"He'll be okay." A familiar voice said behind Logan. Logan turned to see Kendall standing behind him.
"How do you know?"
"I just do. And I know Janice. She's a sweetheart. She would rather gouge her own eyes out than let something bad happen to a child." Logan sighed in reluctance, still feeling the urge to go back and grab his son. Kendall brought him from his thoughts by gently squeezing his arm in comfort. It felt weird being cordial with Kendall but he knew he was doing it for Andy's sake.
"And— I'll walk by every now and then to keep an eye on him." Kendall added.
"Thanks. That means a lot to me." Logan smiled softly.
"He is my son too, ya know. It's the least I can do." With only a subtle wink at Logan, Kendall walked away. Logan could only smile to himself.
(Flashback)
"Mommy! Mommy can I go outside and play?" Joanna Mitchell turned around from cutting a cucumber to see a seven-year old Logan running up to her. He grabbed the fabric of her pants and looked up with big, wide brown eyes, smiling at his mother. Joanna Mitchell was a slender, 5'5 woman with a brunette bob hairstyle and deep brown eyes, which Logan so evidently inherited.
"Well—"
"Please Mommy?!" Logan begged.
"Did you finish all your schoolwork?"
"Yes, Ma'am!" Logan beamed proudly. "I'm the smartest of all the kids in my class, so I did it at school!"
"I know you are sweetie-pie and that's why you can't be boastful about your smarts. Always be humble, baby."
"Yes ma'am. Can I go play now?"
"Yes, you may. Stay in the yard!" Joanna said and Logan dashed out of kitchen. Joanna chuckled to herself. Logan opened the door to go out as his father was coming in.
"Whoa! Watch out, kiddo." Andrew chuckled when Logan ran into him.
"Hey Daddy!" Logan wrapped his arms around his father's torso.
"Hey Logie-bear." Andrew squeezed his son in return. Logan let go of his dad and ran outside. Joanna walked up to her husband and greeted him with a kiss and hug.
"How was work, my love?" Joanna smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"It was alright. I didn't think managing a company would be so tiring." Andrew walked over to sofa and sat down, undoing his tie. Joanna sat on the arm of the sofa, taking a break from the kitchen.
"We're not as young as we used to be. Gotta take it easy some days." Joanna sighed with a smiled.
"Yeah...I guess you're right, little lady." Andrew relaxed into the sofa a bit more. "What's got our little man so eager to get outside? He's never really liked the outdoors. Why the sudden change?"
"I don't know." Joanna looked out the living room window to see Logan laughing and playing with a boy who was around his age. "I think I just found the reason why." Joanna said with a smile. Andrew wondered what she was talking about and leaned forward to see what Joanna was seeing.
"Who's that boy Logan's playing with?"
"Oh, he's the new little boy with the family that moved in just a few doors down. I met his mother and she's nice. I can't seem remember his name though. Is it Kenneth?... Kevin? No, Kaleb? Oh, I don't know. Whoever he is, Logan seems infatuated with him.
"You don't think he's—?" Andrew trailed off, Joanna knowing exactly what her husband was asking.
"I don't know, but if he is... we'll love him just the same." Joanna grabbed Andrew's hand and squeezed it. He looked up and smiled at his wife, sealing the promise they made with a single glance.
(Present Day)
Logan was typing and clicking away to his heart's content, researching Robert Hunt in the government's most secret files. He wasn't even sure he had clearance to actually be looking at the files but he continued anyway. As he typed, a knock sounded at the door.
"Come in!" Logan said, his head never turning away from the computer screen.
"Hi, Agent Mitchell?" A timid voice came from the doorway. Logan looked up and saw it was Jo who was entering his office. He knew he'd soon regret allowing her in.
"Hi, Jill, is it?" Logan feigned a smile.
"Jo." She chuckled, trying to play off being called the wrong name. "Is now a bad time?"
"No, no. Come in." Jo's entire demeanor changed immediately as she walked in. Logan noticed the change and didn't like it at all.
Jo strutted in the office confidently, her long, blonde, wavy hair bouncing with every switch of her hips. Her browns eyes held a condescending glare. Logan mentally prepared himself for the worst. She took a seat in front of Logan's desk. Logan felt that was still too close for comfort, but what could he do?
"I was wondering if you needed my help on anything for the case. The director assigned me to be your assistant and to shadow you of course."
"Oh, yeah! I told him that I really didn't need an assistant. It seems a bit...unnecessary." Logan looked her in the eyes, eyes that he could tell had a jealous hatred behind them.
"Oh, okay. I guess I'll just be going then." Jo looked as though she'd been told off. Nonetheless, she put on her haughty persona and proceeded to leave the office.
"Hey Jo, something tells me that wasn't all you wanted to talk to me about." Jo halted and turned to face him.
"Yes, actually, there is." Jo once again walked back to the chair. "I was just wondering about your relationship with Kendall."
"Is that so?" Logan stopped typing and gave Jo his attention.
"Seeing as you two have had romantic indiscretions in the past, it made me concerned. You know, with you being back and him working here as well. I just want to make sure that we don't have a conflict of interest.
"Jo, let me stop you right there." Logan interjected."I do not want Kendall. Yes, we have a son together but that doesn't mean I'm trying to take him back. I could if I wanted to. But, our relationship is strictly co-parenting."
"Well, that's good to know, because that leads to me to say this. I'm going to need you to not come around him so much. You and your son, that is." Logan's face visibly darkened.
"That's not gonna happen. My son needs his father."
"I'm sure you can find someone who could fill that role." Jo smirked snidely.
"No! Kendall is his father and actually wants to be around and be there for our son."
"That's gonna be a bit of a problem for me." Jo stood up, towering over the desk.
"Well, sucks to suck. But you'd know all about that, wouldn't you? I'm sure that's what you had to do in order to even be considered for the assistant position." Logan snarked. Jo rolled her eyes and pursed her lips. "Why do you not want him around me anyway?"
"It'll distract him from what's really important in his life." Jo smiled arrogantly.
"Oh? What, pray tell, might that be?"
"Me. I mean, why does he need a baby when he has me? And I'm sure if I can get a ring out of him then we'll have a baby of our own."
"God, Kendall's judgement must've really been impaired when he asked you out."
"What can I say? It's hard to resist this." Logan scoffed at her arrogance. "Anyway, I better get going. I have much better things to attend to." Jo turned and began walking away but stopped to face Logan once more.
"Hmm. Getting on your knees in front of the director is a lot to attend to."
"I'm sure you got my drift but here it is again, in case you didn't. You and that bastard of yours stay away from Kendall or else you'll have me to deal with." Jo pivoted in her stilettos and walked to the door. As she was about to open it, a dagger landed in the wooden door, barely missing her head. She turned to Logan, looking at him in pure shock.
"Next time, I won't miss. Don't. Ever. Threaten. Me. Again." Logan said through gritted teeth. Jo exited the door swiftly slamming it behind her.
