September Rain

Chapter 16

"Lissa, It's beautiful." Rose smiled as she put her bags down and followed Lissa into the villa that she would be staying at while September was still in the hospital.

"Only the best for my best friend." Lissa replied smiling from ear to ear.

"I can't thank you enough. I seriously owe you one Lissa."

"It's no trouble at all. Now go ahead and get some sleep. You look like you need it."

Nodding Rose made her way to her and Dimitri's temporary room as she laid flatly on the bed looking up at the ceiling.

"Mind some company?" Dimitri asked flopping on the bed beside her as she turned over and cuddled on his side.

"I would love some." She smiled getting closer.

"How are you doing? Really?"

"I feel like I'm being torn into pieces. I don't know how mothers do this."

"I'm not sure either. I just hope that she'll get better soon."

"Me too Roza, Me too."

"I just feel so exhausted."

"I'm right there with you Roza, but we've been through a lot to get here and we can get through this. One step at a time."

"I hope you're right about that."

Sighing, Rose flipped onto her back as a tear feel from her cheek.

"I feel like such a failure." Shew whispered shutting her eyes tighter.

"You did everything you could Roza. Sometimes bad things happen."

"I'm her mother Dimitri. I should be able to protect her."

"Roza, look at me." Dimitri whispered as she flipped back over to see his gorgeous brown eyes staring at her filled with such sorrow.

"She's our daughter, Roza. We will have all our lives to protect and care for her and what you are feeling right now in this moment proves to me that you will be the best mother to September. I know it may not feel like it right now, but it is what I feel in my heart to be true. And it rarely proves me wrong."

"I hope you're right." Rose smiled through her tears as he pulled her in and let her cry.

She didn't know how long they had stayed like that before a shrill ring tore through her phone as she fumbled around in her pocket and pulled it out. Lissa. Why was she calling so late?

"Hey Liss, what's up? We'll be right there." Rose answered hanging up her phone.

"What's wrong?"

"It's Lissa. She's in labor."
