Okay, here we go. I stared back at the flustered hazel eyes through the full length mirror.
Is your make up on fleek? Check.
Your phone charged? Check.
Your red dress nice and ironed out? Yup.
Your white sneakers uh, white? Well, no but-
"Can I still clean it perhaps?" I grudgingly whispered as I looked over to my shoes. "Maybe, I don't know, try to mask it with toothpaste or tal-"
"Hey," His intense crimson eyes looked down on me from behind. How did he sneak up on me that quietly? "You ready to go?" He fixed his cap, straightened his polo's colar, and dusted away his khaki shorts.
God, he looks amazing.
I succumbed to one last look at the mirror. Okay, hair, check. Make up, check. Dress, check. Shoes, okay fine, check. "Yup," I breathed, "I'm ready!" I looped my arm onto his, and he led me out of his amazing minimalist gray and black apartment, down the glass stairs, through the door, into his black sedan.
Now, you may be wondering, dear intruders of my own thoughts, what may be happening to me, Mikan Sakura, and Natsume Hyuuga? We are off on our first date. Well, I mean, not *totally* our first, but it's an actual, official date. See, we've gone out a few times, just this week he introduced me to his sister. Then, last month, we went to this amazing little shops village, and there was this whole Alladin themed maze which led both of us to dress like genies and in the end he said his reward was, and I quote, "To have you, Mikan, to myself always."
No, you're blushing.
Anyway, this is our first, actual date, for me. Because finally, I will choose this day to tell him yes, I'd very much love it if he will have me to himself, always. And that I, too, will definitely have him to myself, always.
"Are you okay?" He asked in between chuckles, with the corners of his eyes crinkling. "Yeah, why?"
"Well, for one," He started as he tucked a loose strand of my auburn hair behind my ear. "You're blushing. And I haven't even tried any of my world renowed moves on you, polka." Natsume smirked as he relaxed beside me.
I wore polka dot panties one time! You'd think he'd forget, the nerve of this pervert!
"Ah, I have yet to see these moves you boast of, Mr. Hyuuga." I composed myself in my seat as I buckled up. Stop getting so flustered, me. "Besides, we both know very well it was you who fell for me, not the other way around!" I can see his eyes rolling our of their sockets as he pulled out of the driveway. "Where are we going, anyway?"
"Remember how you wanted to see the newly opened natural sciences museum in the city? I found out they're open for free today, so I figured, why not?" Natsume looked over to me and raised his eyebrows teasingly, "Unless you don't want to?"
"Are you kidding me?" I squealed in delight, "That is so sweet and awesome!" This is it, this is the famous "moves" he's been talking about.
"This is not one of my moves, Sakura." He smirked, "If this is one of those, you'd have no time to think because it will be goddamn incredible it will swoop you off your feet in an instant."
"Stop thinking so highly of yourself, you could never swoop me." I chuckled as I glanced at the sky. Huh, is it just me or is it dark out despite being 9 am?
"Great." Natsume muttered as the rain poured hard on the car. We decided to go over our game plan before leaving the car. We are parked a little bit farther from the entrance than expected, so things might be wetter than originally planned. Thank God I didn't wash my shoes, then. "Okay, I have umbrellas under my seat. We both rush towards the entrance when I say go, and pray to whoever's listening that hopefully, after we see the exhibits, the sky would stop weeping so damn hard." Did I hear a flicker of panic in his voice?
"Hey," I reached for his hand and looked up to his eyes. He smelled like eucalyptus and sage, I felt the urge to relax in his arms, but sadly, I didn't. "It's okay, I'd be anywhere and in any season, as long as I'm with you." I smiled and kissed his cheek. Natsume sighed and looked away, "Okay, we're doing this."
He reached for the umbrellas under his seat and gave one to me. Natsume then flashed me a crazy grin and counted, "One, two, THREE!" We burst out of the car, opened our umbrellas, and jolted toward the museum. I didn't realize that despite my soaking shoes and my dishelved hair, I was laughing! "Natsume wait up!" I called after him.
As soon as I reached the museum steps, and finally got shielded from the rain, I allowed myself to catch my breath. "Oi polka, come on!" Natsume called from a few feet in front of me. Damn him and his athletic build. Curse my blubber and my lack of stamina. "Okay, alright, I'm coming!" I panted as I walked towards him. Natsume was soaking wet also, but I'm not mad about what I'm seeing. His polo shirt is stuck to his figure, his hair is dishelved also from him removing his cap, but he still looks hot how is that even possible? His biceps are gleaming with both sweat and rain, and yet he still smells absolutely divine. Before he could even notice me staring, I repeated my checklist, just so you know, I can still grasp reality.
Okay, hair, check. Make up, check. Dress, check. Shoes, wet, yet I couldn't care less.
"Are you ready?" Natsume offered me his hand. His cap set in place to hide his unruly hair (sad), his crimson eyes gleaming under the museum overhead lights. My insides felt all warm and fuzzy as I smiled back, "Ready as I'll ever be." And together we walked towards the entryway.
