Before I go into the actual disclaimer, here is a review that was left on my Shantae fanfiction I've made within the last month of 2021 and into 2022.
It's by a person who is very toxic and has been known to harrass and abuse anyone he wants and thinks that NO ONE can make him stop. I'm going to make sure that someone, I don't care who, but that someone important can see what he is doing and realize that he's doing this not just to me, but everyone.
Reviews for Ricky the Male Genie S82161 chapter 7 . Jan 23
I used the name of the OC of this story behind your back. I used it in a story of mine called The Victorian Thief. Why did I still Ricky Harlem you may ask? Because I felt like it. OC's are in the public domain. You don't have the right to own the character of Ricky Harlem. I own him now and there's nothing you can do about it. I'd like to see you try and report what I did to the admins. They won't care. They wouldn't give a shit about your report.
Well... since Are you Ready Player (first and worst attempt at an Undertale fanfic) barely got any views at all, I decided to do another one so that I can have 3 singular Undertale fanfics that actually make sense.
And this one is actually going to be mostly based on the events of the game itself, mainly due to the fact that it won't have Chara in it at all and that it will have the main character unable to speak unless she sings her sentences.
The main character and POV of the fanfic is named Mute.
Also, whenever Mute has any kind of songs she sings, you'll know it's a song whenever it starts with this symbol: ~ and ends with the same symbol.
With this out of the way, let's begin.
Chapter 1
"Hey, Mute? How're you doing lately?" my mom asked me with a smile as I woke up that morning. It was a very sunny day and I felt a bit adventurous... but I didn't really have any interest in speaking... mostly because of something odd that happened to me.
You're probably wondering what I'm talking about, huh? Well, when I was only 4 years old (roughly 8 years ago) an incident happened to me whenever I was trapped in a fire in a house. The smoke hurt my voice box badly and so, whenever I spoke, I could only breath out the words with just my breath, making it very hard for most people to hear me. The only way I could speak normally now was if I sung, since that didn't hurt my vocal cords... somehow.
"Mm..." I simply smiled as I then used sign language to her to say that I was going to go for a hike on the mountain since it was a nice day out.
"You want to go for a hike? Well, here, you'll need a couple things for the trip," mom smiled at me as she then got me a bag to use, a bottle of water, and some containers that had food in them. "Be careful, and watch out for wild animals, alright?" she smiled, me smirking at her as I then spoke through song.
"~I'll be home by sundown...
Make sure that my grilled cheese is toasted brown...~" I sung happily, mom giggling at that as we then bid each other farewell and I then went to go for a hike on the path to the mountain called Mount Ebott. On my way up, I noticed that there was a sign that said 'no trespassing' but no one listened to it anyways. I smiled and walked right past the sign, going to the mountain itself and seeing a lot of beautiful sights during the trip... but then I saw something that looked... odd. It was a large hole in the ground that I only noticed now that it was autumn and the trees were losing their leaves. It was off the beaten path a bit, which is why I never noticed it before. I then went over to investigate this discovery... only for something to happen.
Out of nowhere, I tripped on a tree root and I gasped as I was suddenly sent falling directly into the giant hole! I screamed in fear, knowing that this was the end for me. I was going to die at the bottom of a hole in the mountain after I promise my mother I'd be home before nighttime... or, so I thought. Because, miraculously, when I connected to the ground, I was cushioned by, get this, a bed of golden flowers! I had no idea what had happened, but the flowers managed to break my fall and felt softer than memory foam!
"That was not the outcome I envisioned..." I said with my raspy breath as I then looked above me and saw that the way out was pretty far and that I'd never be able to climb it. I wasn't really good at climbing things. I then looked to my right and saw something odd. A large door with a strange symbol at the top of it. "What's this?" I asked, my breath being the only thing to make any sound as I then went through the door and saw... the most surprising sight I'd ever see. A little flower was looking at me... and it had a face, moved on its own, and spoke!
"Howdy! I'm Flowey! Flowey the Flower!" the creature spoke, my smile forming as I then started to sing a bit.
"~My name is Mute and I am a singer,
Because my voicebox failed me!
But naming you Flowey the Flower
Made a smile form, you see?~" I smirked at him in song, Flowey looking at me in what looked like bafflement.
"Uh... never met someone like that before... hmm... you're an odd one, aren't you?" he asked, me smirking at him.
"Well... if I talk normally, I can barely be heard, you see?" I said with just my regular voice, Flowey then smiling at that.
"Ah, now I see. You must've been named Mute as a nickname, huh?" he asked, me nodding at that. "Well, I'm nicknamed as well. I'm Flowey, but I do have a real name... but I'd rather not say it. All you need to know is two things," he said, me smiling at that.
"~Go ahead and tell me
I am all ears, Flowey,~" I sung.
"Well, first thing I have to tell you is, I'm the prince of this world. The prince of the Underground, you could say," he said, my smile fading to surprise when he said that. Not about him being a prince, but hearing the term Underground. That meant that, this whole time, the mountain near my small town was actually the prison for the monsters that was formed nearly 8 centuries ago! "And the second thing?" Flowey smiled, his face doing something truly disturbing. He looked at me with a sadistic, twisted grin as I saw a bunch of white pellets surround me. "In this world, it's kill or be killed! DIE!" Flowey exclaimed as he then cackled at a very high pitch, me gasping as the pellets closed in on me and I braced myself for the worst... but I then gasped as something happened. Out of nowhere, the pellets simply vanished! And while Flowey looked confused, a fireball came and attacked him from nearby, sending his tiny form flying into the distance!
"My my, what a terrible creature," said the voice that sounded very kind and caring... and then I saw the owner of the voice and saw that it was... a female goat person with a long robe on of purple, white fur on her body, and looking like she was a bit old in terms of monster years. "Harming a poor innocent youth." I smiled at this stranger and how they called me innocent despite me knowing all the stuff a teenager would. "Do not worry, young one, I am Toriel, the keeper of these Ruins. I usually come to this area every day to see if anyone has fallen down... come with me, I'll show you to my home," she said, me smirking at that.
"~I would love to see your house, miss...
But I really need to get going home...
My mom expects me to get home by sunset...
And this place to me is unknown,~" I sung, the goat person gasping at the third verse and her looking at me with worry in her eyes.
"You say... you have a mother on the surface? And she wants you home by sunset?" Toriel asked.
"Yes," I said with my raspy voice.
"And... wait... what was that? Did you hurt your voice or something?" she asked afterwards.
"Sorry... I can only speak clearly when I'm singing... I'm almost as quiet as the wind otherwise... a fire when I was 4 is the cause," I said, Toriel having to perk her ears up to hear me speaking.
"My word... well, come with me, young one, and we will be on our way through the Underground. I feel it necessary to escort you for a bit," she smiled at me, which I smirked back.
"Thanks," I said with a whisper as we moved through to the next room and then to the one ahead, where Toriel then demonstrated something surprising.
"Watch what I do, since there are some obstacles you'll face in the Underground that can only be dealt with by completing puzzles," she said, her then stepping on different rocks on a darker colored part of the floor before flipping a switch, the door ahead of us opening soon after.
"Alright," I said as best as I could with my breath, Toriel smiling at me.
"So what caused the fire that made your voice the way it is?" Toriel asked.
"~A loose coal from the fireplace...
It set the whole house ablaze...
And the smoke... it filled my lungs and hurt my voice...~" I sung out, Toriel smiling at me.
"That's why we monsters use fire magic instead of regular fire. It can be controlled easier," she smiled. "By the way... I just wanted to say... I really don't know if you'll be able to make it to Asgore, little one... pardon, but what's your name?"
"~My name is Mute and I am very cute.
And I will get back to my place while picking up the pace.~" I sung, Toriel smiling at me again.
"Your singing voice is very calming, Mute, I won't deny that, but songs alone won't help you against the different monsters that inhabit the Underground," Toriel said with a frown. "You see... virtually no one can leave this place. Not even the humans who have fell down here before you," she said, me being confused at that.
"Explain? Please?" I asked with my breath as we then flipped a couple more switches and went further down the path.
"Many centuries ago, the humans waged war with monster kind because they feared our magic and our abilities to absorb human souls. But they didn't care about how peaceful we were and nearly wiped us out of existence before we surrendered... the humans then had 7 of their most powerful magicians, all of which had absorbed a monster soul of their own, and sealed us underground in Mount Ebott. But it doesn't just affect monsters... if a human falls down here, they would also be unable to exit the barrier keeping us down here," Toriel explained, me frowning at that.
"~If there's a barrier blocking me from leaving...
Then how do we destroy it? There has to be something...~" I sung with a deep tone this time. We then came across what looked like a doll that was looking at me in an odd fashion.
"The only way to destroy the barrier is to attack it with a force equal to 7 human souls... that is why I'm hesitant to allow you to leave the Ruins. If you ended up getting captured, Asgore, the king, would kill you, take your soul and the 6 others that have fallen down here to destroy the barrier... and then wipe out humanity," Toriel said, me gawking at that as I then started to sing angrily. This time in rap.
"~Yo whassup, that don't sound good
Why the king wanna mess up the hood?
Humans nowadays don't know monsters exist
So why the king angry and why he so pissed?" I rapped, Toriel sighing and taking her hand and smacking it against her face.
"Rapping... why?" she groaned. "Ahem... anyways, Asgore wants to destroy humanity... because of a tragedy that befell our children... our son Asriel and our adopted human child Chara. They merged souls soon after Chara mysteriously died and were able to cross the barrier, as fusing a monster and human soul together allows people to bypass the barrier. But then, as Asriel took Chara's body to the surface to be buried in their village, the humans thought he killed them. They beat him to near-death and he simply picked up Chara's body and walked them both to Mount Ebott... Asriel was disintegrated into ashes before he even landed in the garden..." Toriel said, me being a bit saddened at that, but also intrigued by the part of how she was Asgore's wife.
"So... you and Asgore... do you hate him?" I asked with my raspy voice as we then moved to another room, completely ignoring the doll and going across a spike-laden floor where Toriel held my hand and led me through the trap.
"I don't hate him... I'm just disgusted with his actions. All the ones who fell down here are children and teenagers... I wanted to prevent them from meeting with Asgore, since I knew he'd kill them. But they weren't content with living in the Ruins with an old bat like me and they wanted to see their families again... it's been nearly 8 years since the last human fell down here and got captured... and I miss every single one of them," Toriel said with tears in her eyes.
I looked at her and simply hugged her from behind, Toriel being surprised at that and looking at me in confusion as I then sung again.
"~Toriel please do not fret,
you may have lots of regrets...
but you need to stay determined
I promise I will make this story end..." I sung, Toriel thinking about what I said before then hugging me gently.
"Determined... you need to stay determined... and be good. Can you promise me that much? That you'll not hurt anyone and that you'll stay determined?" Toriel asked me.
"I promise, Toriel," I smiled at her with just my breath.
"Alright... here, I will test your skills in making it past the different monsters in the Ruins. They will actively attack you when I give them the go-ahead. You have to befriend all of them and get to my house at the end of the path all on your own. I'll give you a cell phone so I can check your progress from time to time," Toriel said as she gave me an old-fashioned cell phone and I smiled at how it was just the bare essentials on it... just calling and that was it. "It's the last spare I have on me, so don't lose it... okay, I'll go on ahead and make the calls to the different monsters inhabiting the Ruins. If you can befriend them all and make it to my house in one piece, I know you'll be able to find the determination to reach Asgore, pacify him, and find some way to defeat the barrier," Toriel said, me smiling at that.
"~Your challenge is accepted...
Give them all the go-ahead,~" I sung with a smile.
"But of course," Toriel smiled as she ran ahead and I saw that, when she wanted to, she could actually move quite fast. Must've been her being a monster that gave her extra speed. And now I had to make it through the Ruins to her house and try not to get badly hurt in the process.
