Chapter 4
Just as I thought that, Sans looked to be waiting for me right there. And when he saw me, he stopped me.
"hey, i want to give you a piece of advice, mute," Sans smiled at me.
"I'm all ears, but you don't have any," I smiled, Sans smirking at that.
"wow. that's a good one. i gotta tell that at grillby's at some point," Sans smiled. "anyways, my brother has a special attack that's blue. see, blue attacks can only be conquered by staying absolutely still. so, it's like seeing a stop sign, but it's colored blue. got it?" Sans described.
"Yeah, I came across a dog monster that had a blue attack just a few moments ago," I smiled.
"yeah, but my bro's is a more advanced version. you'll know what i mean if you actually do fight him," Sans smiled at me. I nodded at that and then proceeded forward, getting stopped by a monster that looked like it had a very big hat on made of ice.
"Hey! Look at my hat! Isn't it neat?" the monster asked, me feeling I could do something if I managed to fool him. I simply looked behind him and smiled at something.
"Well, that's a good-looking tree right there, isn't it?" I smiled, the monster being confused at that and turning around, me then snatching the hat off of him, the monster gasping as the hat then... well, it melted soon after I got it! And the monster literally fell to the ground and changed from his original form to that of an ice cube.
"I'm ruined... I loved that hat..." the monster said, me feeling bad about that.
"Hey... it's not all bad. You actually look very cute with that little tuft of hair showing," I smiled, the monster looking at me with small eyes and me seeing him turn back to his original form with a small, sad smile.
"Y-You think I look cute with my hair?" he asked. I nodded at that. "T-Thanks, miss. I had that hat to make me look cute and cool, but if you say I already look cute, then I'll be Ice Cap no more! From now on, I am just Ice!" the monster said with a smile.
"See? Today was a good day, wasn't it?" I smiled at him.
"Yeah, it was... thanks, nice girl!... So what kind of monster are you?" Ice asked.
"Uh... well... I'm not..." I said with a sigh, the monster looking at me in confusion before his eyes went wide.
"Y-You're a human?" he asked.
"Yes, I am," I said with a small smile. "I'm not dangerous, though. I just want to get back home by sunset," I said, Ice being confused at that.
"Sunset? What's a sunset?" he asked, me sighing and shaking my head at that.
"It's something that people see on the surface when it reaches nightfall, usually around 5 or 6 in the evening. It's when the sun, which gives us light and warmth, sets in the west and the moon and stars come out in its place," I explained, the monster gawking at that.
"That... that sounds beautiful... I wish I could see this sunset," the monster said with a smile.
"Well, I need to reach the king in order to get to the surface. And I want to find some kind of way to have everyone leave the Underground without Asgore warring against humanity," I said with a small smile.
"Very noble... you know what? I think I'm going to go talk to the others on the way to Snowdin and tell them how cool you are!" he smiled.
"Thanks, Ice. That's very nice of you," I smirked at him. He then rushed off ahead and left me in the dust. It made sense, since he was able to fly. I then went forward some more and came across Sans and Papyrus and they were talking to each other.
"You wasted all that time resting!" Papyrus frowned.
"i think that's called sleeping," Sans said.
"Excuses! Excuses!" Papyrus exclaimed as I simply got some snow and threw another snowball at Papyrus, him looking at me with a smile afterwards. "You really like throwing snow at me, don't you, Mute?" Papyrus asked with a smile.
"Just wanted to get your attention," I smiled, Papyrus looking at me in confusion after I spoke.
"What happened to your voice? Where's your beautiful singing voice?" he asked.
"Sorry... I can only really speak good if I'm singing. Any other time, my voice is barely a whisper... and if I speak any louder than this, it sounds very raspy," I frowned.
"That's... tragic... I'd feel bad for you, but I need to capture a human in order to get into the Royal Guard. So, sorry to say, but you won't move past this puzzle! I think you'll find it rather... shocking!" Papyrus said as he held a blue orb in hand. "If you step on the wrong tile on this electricity maze, you'll get shocked badly. All the electricity is powered by this orb. But I think the amount of fun you'll have is... very low," Papyrus smiled as I simply looked at the snow and saw that there was a lighter patch that marked a way through... I hoped. I simply walked on this lighter patch of snow through the puzzle, being careful with my movements until I reached the other side, Papyrus gawking at that.
"Wowie! You solved that like it was child's play! Maybe it was too easy for you?" Papyrus said with a thoughtful think. "But you will never make it past the next puzzle! Because it was made by none other than my brother, Sans! It will surely be too tough for you! Nyehehehehehe!" Papyrus sneered as he went on ahead and I smiled as I then went ahead, finding that it led to a guy that was selling ice cream... in the snow.
"Dude, nobody gets the point of my frozen treats. They'd totally dig it in a place like this," the guy said with a glum face.
"Uh... do you not get how temperatures work, sir?" I asked, the guy looking at me in confusion.
"What do you mean, miss?" he asked.
"I mean, people don't want cold on cold. It just makes them more cold... now, if you really want business, I suggest going to a warmer area to drum up more business. Is there any place in the Underground that has nonstop heat?" I asked him, the guy nodding at that.
"Yeah, that'd be Hotland. It doesn't have that name for nothing," the guy smiled.
"Well, just sell your treats there and you'll be sold out and rich in no time," I smirked.
"Well, if your advice holds true, I think I'll give you a cut of the funds if we meet up again! Thanks, and I hope you're right in your predictions!" the ice cream guy smiled as he then peddled his cart ahead of me... and I saw that it actually had wings on it and it turned into a plane. He cheated by flying! I simply shrugged that off and went forward some more, going south and to the east to find that the duo of skeletons were on the other side of a patch of snow... and the puzzle?
"Human I hope you're ready... for..." Papyrus said before he then looked confused. "Sans! Where's the puzzle?!" Papyrus exclaimed.
"it's right there on the ground. trust me, no way they'll get past this one," Sans smiled, me looking at the puzzle and smiling. It was a crossword puzzle. I simply took it, crumpled it up, and threw it over the edge of the cliff before then going up to the duo with a smile.
"SANS! That didn't do anything!" Papyrus exclaimed.
"oops. i knew i should've used today's crossword," Sans said.
"Crossword?! Un-Believable! In my humble opinion... Junior Jumble is easily the hardest," Papyrus smiled.
"what? that easy-peasy word scramble? that's baby-bones stuff, bro," Sans smiled.
"Peh! Ah, Mute, settle this debate for us! Which is harder? Junior Jumble or Sans's crossword?" Papyrus asked as I simply looked at him, then at Sans, then at Papyrus again. I simply smirked as I sung my response.
"~I feel that my answer is true.
Junior Jumble sounds too tough.
I'm sure if I were to try it
I would find it very rough,~" I sung, Papyrus smiling at me.
"Aha! Humans must be very intelligent if they think Junior Jumble is difficult! Now I want to capture you even more! Nyehehehe!" Papyrus sneered as he then went ahead of me and I looked at Sans with a smile.
"thanks for saying junior jumble, mute. just last week, he got stumped trying to 'solve' the horoscope," Sans smiled at me.
"Heh. By the way, sorry for proving how useless that 'puzzle' was. I thought it'd get a laugh," I smiled at him.
"naw, it's not an issue. i have many more back home. and none of them are finished," Sans smiled. I simply nodded and went forward, wondering what would happen next... and what happened? I saw a plate of spaghetti on a table next to an unplugged microwave and a note on the spaghetti.
"Dear Mute, please enjoy this delicious spaghetti... but little do you know, you will be so preoccupied eating my delicious spaghetti, you'll be too distracted to continue on! It's the perfect trap! Papyrus..." the note said, me frowning at that and simply trying to get the spaghetti into a to-go container that I had from my mom. But no matter how I tried, I couldn't move the stuff off the table. It was frozen to it.
"Dang..." I groaned as I then moved onward, completely ignoring the spaghetti as I then got to the next area and saw that there was a spike trap on the way over the next bridge. And I didn't know where a switch would be to throw it... but then I walked over a patch of snow and saw that it was hiding a picture! I then spread it out and saw that it was a map of the area I was in. And there was an X in between three circles in a triangle shape. I looked over to the northwest and saw that there was three rocks in a triangle shape and there being a darker patch of snow between the two rocks. "Bingo," I smiled as I was about to move out... but then something appeared and I saw that it was a dog wearing armor and having a bone as a weapon.
"Uh... you want a pet?" I smiled as I went to pet the dog and he... well, his head stretch upward when I did so! He then tried to pounce on me, me dodging and then petting him again... and again... and again! And with every pet I did to the dog, his head grew higher and higher! It got to the point where the dog's head grew to be the size of a tree!
"Good boy," I smiled as I then left, but he simply gave me ten gold coins before I left, me smiling at that as he then rushed off over the spike trap just by stretching his head across it and then retracting his body into his head. Another cheater. I simply flipped the hidden switch in between the rocks and then went down to the bridge I came across before. I then went across it... only to come across two more dogs! And these ones looked tougher, as they had large axes and wore black hoods.
"Where's that smell?" one asked, him having a male voice to him.
"It's around here somewhere..." the other said, this one being female and shy. They then sniffed around for a bit before laying their noses on my cheeks.
"Weird smell found... green smell," the male dog said.
"Weird smell makes me want to eliminate... should we, hon?" the female dog asked.
"Yes, sugerlumps," the male dog smiled as they then lowered their hoods and I simply rolled in the snow while dodging their axes, which they tried to us on me in synchronicity, but I was faster. I then looked at them and grabbed their muzzles, forcing them to my cheeks and them gasping soon after.
"Y-Your smell... are you... are you actually a weird puppy?" the duo asked soon after, them then holstering their weapons afterwards.
"Good girl," I smiled as I pet the female dog and she gasped.
"P-Pet by another dog... amazing..." the female dog gawked.
"Don't leave me out!" the male dog said, me then petting his head happily.
"Good boy," I smiled at him. The duo then looked at each other and pet each other, them giggling and nuzzling their noses together soon after.
"Dogs can pet other dogs... thank you, weird puppy! You've opened our eyes to a whole new world of loves and pets! Here, take some of this as thanks," the male dog said to me happily as he gave me 50 gold coins. "Bye, weird puppy," he smiled as he and his girlfriend then went on ahead and I simply walked ahead, wondering what I'd find next on my journey.
