I guess I always assumed that the end of the world would be some climate disaster a few centuries away, I was greatly mistaken. The end of the world was something out of a horror movie, the dead began to reanimate and take bites out of the living. It was not quite like the old movies depicted, no one walked out their grave, mainly because they never made it to the grave. The first few months had everyone terror stricken. Looting of houses and local stores was common, people gathered shotguns and rifles to protect their families, once the virus began to spread state to state it wasn't the looters you had to worry about. After 3 months the government went MIA and all power stopped, if you were lucky you would find a hunting cabin with a generator or in a city hotel. Hospitals seemed like a wonderful place to hold up, they had medicine and food, most had many backup generators but they were filled with the living dead and the actual dead. That's when I realised that I had to leave my little safe haven in the city because just like everything else in the world, it doesn't last long.

And with that decision made it takes me to my current predicament.

Current day - Taylor POV

I only have a forest green camper van, it was a gift from an old friend. It contains a bed a small basin and a compostable toilet but most of the space is taken up by my circus equipment, knives, bows, arrows and aerial silks and then any extra space was taken up by my companion Jehrico, a small or some would say large black panther that I saved from an inhumane circus as a cub. He has been very useful so far as he finds his own food and often helps me fend off the biters. But with all that I have very little space for food and water, all necessary things I will need to survive the travel out of Atlanta and into the countryside. I know in my head that I need to dispose of some of my equipment, but deep in my heart all these are all the things that have saved me once before.

"Right Jehrico, it is time to get rid of some of this crap" I addressed my companion as I picked up a large handful of aerial silks and tossed them unceremoniously to the floor.

"I know you love them so please don't look at me like that. I will let you pick one to lie in and I will also pick one and we will keep D's and G's faves okay" I explained to the sad looking cat. Honestly I swear he can give puppy eyes and he isn't even a puppy. The knives and the bow can stay as they're gonna be unbelievably helpful in killing the biters. Food wise were probably a bit short but once we leave the city I should be able to hunt to make up for what we don't have.

After fueling up the van and siphoning a few extra drops hopefully giving me enough gas to get out of the city, I put on my custom face mask and my combat boots and hopped into the driver seat of the camper closing my door as I opened the passenger side. "Get in dude we're leaving this circus" I addressed Jehrico who was definitely giving me a sorrowful look.

"I know this place has been the only home that we have both known but adventure awaits and maybe we can come back once we find 'D' and 'G'. Okay".

And with that we began our journey out of the city.

Time skip - Ricks POV

We really have to get out of here. I'm greatly aware that the only reason they're stuck is because they risked their necks to save me. Which is why I have an idea that I hope will work.

"Right", I addressed the group. "I think I have a plan but you're not gonna like it".

"Well it's probably better than being eaten alive so let's go" Adrea added.

Time skip - Ricks POV

The rain was wearing off the biter guts and they were starting to notice us. "Lets go get to the van"

They all ran toward the van, Glenn running towards a red sports car that was closer to him, the alarm helping draw the biters away from us. All of us managed to get into the van, all except the Merle. I would feel guilty but probably later for now I was just glad I was alive and have a chance to see my wife and kid again.
