Betty pulled her hands through her hair up into a ponytail. The signature Betty Cooper ponytail. But for some reason, it didn't feel right. She pulled it out and let her hair fall to her shoulders. 'Now that feels right' Betty thought. This summer, she felt like reinventing herself for the 3 months she had before her senior started and then go back to the girl she always was or the girl everyone saw her as.
"Are you ready Elizabeth? Kevin and Archie will be here at any moment" Her mom called up the stairs. She looked around for her suitcase and located it in the corner of her room. A sudden rush of adrenaline rushed through her veins as she heard the car pull up outside. Betty almost lept over to her window and looked down to see Kevin running over to her door. Betty smiled and grabbed her suitcase and rushed downstairs as quickly as she could without falling over a step.
Before Kevin could even ring the doorbell, Betty swung the door open. "You ready?" Kevin asked with his hand still up in the air. "Gotta go say goodbye to my mom first then I'll be out." She ran into the kitchen to see her mom sitting at the table working on a new article. "Have fun, Betty, I'll check in once a week if that's alright with you?" She inquired "That's fine. We'll be okay, no need to worry about us" She gave her mom a quick hug and then made her way back over to the door. As she walked down the path, she saw Archie was putting her suitcase in the back of the car. He looked up and saw her just as the wind was blowing the hair out of her face. He gave her a quick smile and walked around to her.

He walked up to her and said: "You ready?" He said holding out his hand for her to take. Betty took his hand and replied: "Ready as I'll ever be"
Betty sat in the middle of the back of the car, letting the wind blow through her hair. It was moments like this that made her feel like she was on top of the world. The last time she was with Archie and Kevin, it was the summer of freshman year. Before everything went wrong. But there was no need to fixate on the past. She wanted to live in the moment from here on out and nothing was stopping her.
Betty looked over at Archie who was singing along to the radio. She hadn't seen him this happy since, well, she can't remember the last time he was that happy.
Nearly an hour into their journey, Kevin pulled up outside of a field and said: "Toni told me that this was the best place to get some photos so, not to sound cheesy or anything, we might as well use this to make some 'memories'" He said using air quotes. Betty hopped out of the car and ran through the field, letting her mind run free. Archie leant against the car, holding up the camera he managed to find in the house, and taking photos of the surrounding area and also some of Betty. By the time they were finished, he swore there were at least 100 photos of Betty and Kevin doing stupid poses. He managed to get Kevin to take over and take a few of him and Betty before then getting back in the car and hitting the road again.

They stopped one more time heading to their destination. This time, they stopped at a gas station as Archie had managed to nearly eat all of the food they packed for the journey which meant there was nothing left for Kevin and Betty. "Kev". Betty asked leaning over into the front of the car "Where are we going?" Kevin turned around to face Betty "Miss Cooper, that is a surprise. I'd never heard of it until my dad told me about it. He went here with a few friends in his junior year. Or so he says" Kevin hesitated to say what he was going to say next. "Kev, what did you do?" Betty asked. "I didn't tell you two that I may have invited Fangs," He said hesitantly "Why are you worried about that?" Archie asked "Well here's the thing, I invited Fangs, somehow Toni found out and I think Cheryl is coming as well" He let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding in. Archie and Betty looked at each other waiting for either of them to say something. Betty eventually broke the silence and said: "It could be worse. You could have invited Veronica and Jughead and that wouldn't be good for any of us" Kevin and Archie exchanged confused looks. "What I'm trying to say is that I want this summer to have no drama and with them here with Cheryl, I think that it would have made it a memorable summer but not in a good way". When Betty finished speaking, she received a message from Jughead. She looked over the message and then decided to turn her phone off without replying. She didn't want any input from the rest of the world, she wanted to be here with her best friends and no one else.
