Lucy grinned as she took in the landscape around her. Gone were the buildings and the bustle of Los Angeles. Instead she saw rolling hills and green pastures as far as the eye could see. She turned as a huff of frustration interrupted the peace that surrounded her. She lifted an eyebrow as she watched Tim place the last spike in the ground, holding their tent in place. She watched as his tall frame rose up and slowly made his way over to her, wrapping her up in his arms to press a gentle kiss to her forehead.

His voice was confident, on the borderline of cocky, "It didn't take me too long to set up the tent."

Lucy grinned as she shook her head, "Of course it didn't," she paused to run her hands up his arms, until her hands were playing with the short hair on the back of his neck, "I never doubted you for a second."

He shook his head before he swooped down to kiss her lips. He pulled back with a grin as he motioned toward the ATV with a raised eyebrow, "Grab the bags while I start a fire boot; it might get a bit chilly later."

Lucy rolled her eyes, but moved towards the ATV anyway. She came back with their backpacks and tossed them just inside the tent. She grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around her shoulders as she moved to sit down by the small fire that Tim had started. The smell of smoke and the crackle of the wood burning brought a smile to her face. She let her eyes slide over to Tim and sighed softly as she took him in.

Lucy knew that he wouldn't admit it, but he was in his element in the outdoors. She watched as his hands moved the wood just so and how his fingers slid over the lighter to start a spark of fire. She breathed in the scent of smoke again and wondered briefly if he would ever consider moving back home. She let her mind wonder to a large farmhouse filled with children running around; Tim maybe working a farm if he wasn't a cop in the town; large family dinners once a week just because. She was pulled out of her daydreaming when Tim's voice broke the calm silence.

"You okay over there boot? You're quiet for a change."

Lucy fought down the urge to roll her eyes as she inhaled the scent of burning wood, "I'm okay, just thinking."

Tim shook his head as he chuckled teasingly, "Oh no, that's never good."

She knocked her shoulder with his and breathed in deep, "Do you miss it? The kind of outdoors that only country can bring?"

Tim sighed and let his eyes roam over her face, wondering if there was something she wasn't asking. The months of being her TO, years of working side by side with her, and months of being her husband led him to think she was getting at something that didn't involve his love for outdoors. He grinned and shook his head, "Sometimes. Would I ever move back here? Not a chance in hell. Will I come visit more? Probably," he shrugged before continuing, "Our life is in LA. Our jobs, friends, your parents."

Lucy bit her lip, wondering if she should even mention kids, but stopped herself. She turned to him and rose an eyebrow, "Trust me, my parents isn't a reason to stay in LA. Friends and jobs sure," she passed before continuing, "You could always become a cop here."

Tim shook his head before locking eyes with her, "Look boot, I get that being a cop here is different than being a cop in LA, but even you wouldn't like it here. I know I sure wouldn't. this is just like Mayberry: boring, slow paced, and no fun."

Lucy rose an eyebrow, "What's Mayberry?"

Tim grinned slowly and shook his head, "I forget that you're a little younger than me and you wouldn't get the reference. It's from a show called Andy Griffith: a cop in a small town who had to balance life as a single dad and a police officer of a tiny town called Mayberry."

Lucy grinned and shook her head, of course he would like old cop shows. She snuggled up to Tim's arm as the wind blew through the thin blanket. She let her mind wonder again as the silence over took them. She felt Tim breath in deep, as if he was going to ask her something. She was proven right when a second later his deep voice broke the quiet.

"What's on your mind Lucy? You aren't asking about moving or anything for no reason."

Lucy stiffened, suddenly nervous at having his heated gaze on her. She bit her lip and blinked, trying to give herself a few seconds before tilting her head back to meet his eyes, "I was just curious is all."

"You're never just curious boot. You always have a reason for your questions."

Lucy shrugged, "Why are you so against moving back here?"

Tim groaned, raking a hand through his longer hair, "I just don't see us here Lucy. I have way too many bad memories here."

Lucy watched him struggled for a second. She saw pain, grief, and anger in his eyes and her mind flashed back to Elizabeth. She slowly put a hand on his shoulder and she whispered, "Is it about Elizabeth?," she paused to take in his eyes, but continued on when she was met with silence, "I'm sure no one blames you for what happened. You weren't even with her."

Tim breathed in deep as quilt washed over him like a tidal wave. He hadn't felt this amount of pain in years. He ran his hand through his hair again and shook his head, his voice barely a whisper in the wind, "That's the thing Lucy. I should have been," he ignored her as he continued on, because if he stopped he never would get his story out, "She called when I was busy. I was out with friends and when I picked up the phone I brushed her off. She told me that it was raining and that she was scared to drive on the back roads and wanting me to come get her. She was only five miles away from the house," he paused as he brushed under his eyes with his thumb, "I told her that she would be fine and that she could make the short drive. She wrecked not even ten minutes later."

Lucy watched as pain washed over Tim as she tried to comfort him. Logically she knew that it wasn't Tim's fault that his sister died, but the guilt was still there for him. He voice was low and comforting, "I'm sure no one blames you Tim. It was a horrible accident. No one could have known that she would miss a curve or slide on the road. You didn't cause her to lose control, inexperience and weather did."

A sad sigh was her response. She watched as Tim shook his head, "If I would have just taken the twenty minutes to go get her she would still be here. I have to live with that. And I do, I just got really good at burring it."

Lucy shook her head, "You don't know that though. Maybe you would have gotten in an accident going to her and your parents wouldn't have any children."

"Maybe, but it doesn't make it any easier."

Lucy rubbed soothing circles on his back, "I'm sure no one blames you."

"No, they just take it for what it is: an accident."

"Which is what it is: an accident."

Tim sighed and shook his head again as he watched the flames engulf the wood, "Yea, it doesn't make living without my baby sister any easier," he shook his head and leaned his head on top of Lucy's and sighed softly, taking on a gentle whisper, "At least now you know about Izzy. And why I don't plan on moving back here. Ever."

Lucy nodded as she watched the embers float into the black sky, her voice low and gentle, "We'll have to bring our kids back to visit though."

Relief at telling Lucy the full story about his sister turned to hope at the mention of kids. He knew that the point of her questions of moving back home and a slower paced life had come from somewhere and having babies was the reason. He was silent for a minute as he let her words wash over him. Hope bloomed in his chest at the mere idea of Lucy having his babies. He glanced down at her and noticed her bottom lip between her teeth. The fire lighting up her eyes and casting shadows on her face making her look ethereal.

God, she was beautiful.

He lazily grinned as he brought his hand down to cup her cheek. He turned her face up so he could see in her eyes and run his thumb along her cheekbone, down her jaw, and up slightly to tug on her bottom lip. His thumb ran along her bottom lip as his heated gaze burned into hers, his voice low and dare he say, hopeful, "Is that what you want Lucy? To have babies with me?"

Lucy's breath hitched as his voice sounded in her ear. She felt like her heart was about to burst out of her chest when he asked her about babies. As little chubby hands and baby giggles overtook her mind she shook her head and grinned, raising an eyebrow, "Not a baseball team by any means: no more than three."

Tim slowly grinned, kissing her hard and deep. He knew that the second him and Lucy started trying he'd have to talk to Grey about a promotion. He brushed thoughts of work away as he pulled Lucy into his lap. He pulled back, needing to reassure her that he was already thinking ahead, thinking about their future children as if they were already here. He brushed his thumbs under her eyes, his voice deep and low, "When we get back, I'll talk with Grey about a Sergeants position, I was eighth on the scores list thanks to my brain and your book recordings so it shouldn't be too much of a wait time."

Lucy rose an eyebrow and smiled softly, "In a hurry for something?"

He shook his head wanting, needing, to explain his reasoning, "I won't be in as much danger if I'm a sergeant Lucy. I'll be pushing papers behind a desk, making tactical calls and plans. I'll be away from the action about two to three days a week."

Lucy thought of his words and his meaning behind them. He would be scaling back on patrol so he could come home to his wife and kids. He was sacrificing his thrill of the job for the security of his family. Lucy felt tears roll down her cheeks as Tim brushed them away.

Tim smiled gently before running his fingers down Lucy's cheeks, "What's the tears for boot? Going soft on me?"

Lucy shook her head and ran her fingers through his hair, "No, I just love you so much Tim."

He was going to make a joke about how he was a really lovable guy, but suddenly everything felt heavy and electrifying. He breathed in deep the scent of coconuts and brushed his fingers down Lucy's cheek, suddenly wondering if their baby would have his features or Lucy's. Or both.

He swallowed roughly before pressing a kiss to her forehead, "I love you too Lucy. So damn much."

They sat by the fire until there was nothing left, but smoldering ashes. Tim led Lucy into the tent before sliding the zipper shut to keep the night air out of the small space. He turned to Lucy and instantly the electric and fire had returned between them.

Lucy was expecting Tim to be rushed and hurried, but was surprised at how gentle he was, which wasn't surprising: he was always so tender with her. He had gently pushed her on the blankets before slowly kissing his way down her neck, right at the slope of her shoulder. She shivered as his lips and tongue soothed the mark his teeth had left. She bit her lip as his hands slid up her sides and around her back to lift her shirt up and off.

She slowly slid his Henley off as he pressed hot, open mouthed kisses to her sides and shoulders. Lucy watched as Tim slowly slid down her body as if he was worshiping something amazing. Her eyes locked on his as he hovered over her abdomen, his nose nuzzling the spot where someday soon a baby would be. She watched him press a kiss to her abdomen again before pushing her jeans down her smooth legs.

The last thing Lucy remembers before letting everything fall away is the top of Tim's head nestled perfectly between her thighs.

Lucy woke up the next morning to bright sunlight in her eyes and the smell of something amazing cooking. She yawned as she stretched her arms above her head before slowly picking up a discarded shirt. She grinned at seeing the Dodgers logo on the front. She slowly made her way outside to see Tim fussing over a small skillet. She took a minute to take him in and sighed at seeing him out in the countryside outside of LA. She bit her lip as she eyed his Dodgers hat perched backwards on his head. God she wished he'd wear it like that more often.

Lucy was broken out of her daydreaming by Tim's voice calling to her smugly, "See something you like boot?"

She grinned, raising an eyebrow suggestively, "Yea. I do actually."

Tim gave a cocky grin before he noticed Lucy had snatched a piece of bacon from the sizzling pan. He shook his head and swatted her hand away, his voice taking on a tone reminiscent of her former training officer, "Hands off the merchandise boot until it's all done."

Lucy stuck out her tongue before shoving the bacon in her mouth. She moaned as she took in the contents of the small table Tim had set up. She grinned when she noticed the travel mug and packets of sugar and some of her creamer.

She took a sip of her coffee before glancing at Tim with a grin, "What do we have planned today?"

Tim scraped some scrambled eggs on a plate before turning to Lucy with a grin, "Horseback riding and a hike if you're up for it."

She squealed at the mention of horses, "Oh my God, yes! I love horses, you know I do. They're so adorable."

An amused chuckle escaped Tim before he could stop himself, "Call them adorable when the sling you off them."

Lucy rose an eyebrow, "Can't be any worse than riding a bull."

A grunt was Tim's response, his mind flashing back to when a bull horn was rammed into his chest. He shivered at the memory before turning to Lucy with a plate of food, "Trust me, horses are harmless when compared to bulls."

"Will we be seeing bulls while we're here?"

Tim shook his head quickly, "If there's a rodeo close by, maybe, but I'm not making any promises."

Lucy shrugged before digging into her breakfast, looking forward to whatever Tim had planned. Even if it didn't involve seeing a rodeo. As they packed up their campsite and loaded up the ATV, it was quiet, aside from the birds and small woodland creatures. Both of them looking forward to what the rest of the vacation brought them.
