Chapter 5: The Water Mask

The next morning, Rayman woke up and went to the pier, where a baby Globox, a friend of Bzzit, was waiting for him near a yellow boat on which the insect was attached to, and he also find two Yellow Lums.

''Get on the boat and I'll take you to the Lost Island.'' said Bzzit.

The hero got on board and the mosquito began to push to bring the boat to its destination.

''So, Rayman, what would you need the four masks for?'' asked Murfy.

''Ly said that if I find the four masks, I will be able to awaken Polokus and ask him to help him defeat the pirates, it's our only chance. Since Polokus is our creator, he's like a god to us, and I'm sure the pirates won't have a chance against him. '' explained Rayman.

''I hope we'll be quick then, the pirates have probably already found it.'' said the greenbottle.

''I hope not.'' replied Bzzit.

20 minutes later, he warned that they had arrived on the Lost Island.

''As the Grand Minimus said, on the Lost Island there is the Sanctuary of Water and Ice, where the first mask is located. Here, you must also find fifty Yellow Lums and save two Familiar spirits.'' said Murfy.

Arrivied on the island, Rayman immediately saw a cage and destroyed it, freeing the Familiar spirit inside, defeated a group of pirates, consisting of two purple pirates, one green and a yellow one, and found six Yellow Lums between a small path towards the high and three more gliding towards the palms. The path led to a cave full of water, in which the hero dived and reached the other side, finding six more Yellow Lums and saving a Familiar spirit. Then, he went up to the surface, where he found five Lums, and after a few minutes of exploration, he found the doors of the sanctuary, but they were closed, with two bases on the sides, one yellow and one blue. He then destroyed the doors on both sides and entered on the right first, where he found a yellow sphere.

''Look, Rayman! A magic sphere! It appears to be the same color as one of the bases. There are two spheres: oa yellow one and a blue one, and if you place them on the bases of the same color, you can open the doors of the temple. Don't worry if you lose one, it will go back to where you previously found it.'' Murfy explained.

'Thanks, Murfy. Your help is always valuable.'' said Rayman, smiling.

The limbless hero took the sphere and placed it on the yellow base, then did the same with the blue one, and the doors , he was attacked by two purple pirates and a yellow one, who hit him a couple of times with their shots, but he defeated them and took ten Yellow Lums while going up a staircase before entering a door.

Yellow Lums found: 30/50, total 187/1000

Saved Familiar spirits: 2/2, total 18/80

Before long, Rayman found a slippery slope.

''There is something strange about this slippery slope. If you jump while you're sliding, you can't use the helicopter, so be sure to control your movements carefully to avoid missing a few Lums.'' Murfy warned him.

Following Murfy's advice, Rayman started to slide and took seventeen Yellow Lums, and eventually met a floating legless blue being with a blue aura around his head.

''I am Axel, the guardian of the Water Mask! Who's there? A thief?'' he snapped.

''No, I'm not a thief. I need the masks to free the world from the Robo-pirates.'' Rayman tried to explain.

''How do I know you're not a thief? Only if you defeat me will I understand it. Prepare to fight!'' said Axel, who started shooting stalactites and ice shards on him.

Rayman began to swing from one Purple Lum to another and saw a large stalactite above Axel, hit it and it fell on his head. After repeating the process two more times, the guardian was defeated.

''Congratulations, Rayman... by defeating me, you have proven yourself worthy of the Water Mask. Polokus created me and the other guardians to prevent the masks from falling into the wrong hands. If what you say is true, then you must find all the masks to call Polokus for your help.'' said Axel, before dissolving.

Rayman then found three more Yellow Lums and passed through the waterfall, facing a grassy chamber and a pillar with rings on it. The circle-shaped symbol on his chest interacted with it, emitting an electric beam that opened the pillar, and a blue mask came out, with a big smile and three coral-like spikes.

''Bravo, Rayman! You found the first mask! '' shouted Murfy.

Rayman took the mask and raised it in the air, to then be teleported to another pillar identical to the previous one, next to a tree on the seashore, and on it was Polokus. He looked like a short yellow frog, with long arms, and wore blue shorts, a belt and a purple hat.

''Welcome! I am Polokus, the spirit of the world. I see that you have found the first of my four masks. For now I am far away, and I only speak during dreams, but if you bring me the other three masks, I will awaken and help you fight the pirates.'' He said, while Rayman gave him the mask, then created a magic door. ''Be strong. Our world's destiny is in your hands.''

''Don't worry, Polokus. I'll make it.'' replied Rayman, before disappearing into the door.

Yellow Lums found: 50/50, 207/1000 total

Saved Familiar spirits: 2/2 total 18/80

Rayman found himself back at the Stone Circle, where the Teensias were waiting for him.

''I found the first mask and met Polokus.'' he said.

'Great! However, the pirates already know that you have found the mask, and to stop you, they have built huge doors to stop you from advancing. The second mask is somewhere beyond that door, and I asked Clark to help you break it down. He's waiting for you on the East Plain.'' said the Grand Minimus.

Arriving on the East Plain, Rayman found two Yellow Lums and ran into Clark, who was waiting for him.

''Hello, Rayman! The Teensies have asked me to help you break down the door that blocks the passage to Globox's House. Follow me.''

The limbless hero followed the giant up to a small hill, and Clark asked him to walk away a bit to avoid hurting him accidentally then he knocked down the door and left.

''Hey, Clark, wait for me!'' shouted Rayman, who had lost sight of Clark, and went to the other side to look for him.

Yellow Lums found: 30/30, total 212/1000
