Chapter Thirty Four – Starting Anew

Kyoko looked out of the window at the plane feeling a strange sense of happiness in her chest. It was more than the adorable blond who had fallen asleep on her shoulder after a long night of trying to organize what their life would be. She was happy that her mother had taken interest, no matter how slight, in her life. Kyoko smiled as she stared at the clouds and then felt movement beside her. She turned and saw Kuon lift his head.

"Sor—Sorry about that," he apologized and Kyoko blinked at him. He was so gorgeous and she felt that she had won the lottery that he was so in love with her. He looked around in a half daze. "I didn't mean to fall asleep," he apologized and Kyoko took his hand in hers.

"You've been tired. It's okay," she smiled to him before tilting her head to the side, "Are you okay? Is returning to the US too stre-"

"I'm prepared for that," Kuon said as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. He kissed Kyoko's cheek which made her stop for a moment as her cheeks turned red and she smiled happily. He wanted her. He really wanted to be with her. No, she knew that much from the past few months but maybe it was the excitement that was mixed in with it that made her feel so much happiness from that kiss. "it's that I'm worried about what might come next. Have I earned the right to act abroad?"

"Yes," Kyoko smiled to him with the determination that he adored in her eyes. "You are Kuon Hizuri, formally Ren Tsuruga. You might have been hurt by the people in the acting industry in the past but you are so much stronger than that. You have more than enough talent to succeed in the acting world and I'm so thrilled that I get a front row seat."

"You can have any seat you choose as far as I'm concerned," Kuon said and Kyoko grinned happily. They would be starting a new life together and it felt so much better than when she had followed Shotaro to Tokyo. She had faith in the fact that when they were there, Kuon would be returning to her every night unless he had to go somewhere for work. Shotaro had only come back to the expensive apartment occasionally, Kuon would come back to his home usually. He wouldn't just stay there to pick up fresh clothes, he'd be sleeping there, eating there. He wouldn't be trying to fool her like Shotaro had wanted to.

"You're really mine?" Kyoko asked and Kuon tilted his head to the side questioning whether she had asked that. He had wanted to rid any uncertainty that he could ever belong to somebody else.

"I am really yours for as long as you'll have me," Kuon tried to reassure her. He lent forwards to look out the window as well. All he could see was blue and clouds which meant that they still had some time before they landed. He looked to Kyoko and grabbed her hand, squeezing it. "How long is it going to be before arrival?" he asked and Kyoko quickly turned on her TV and found the information.

"Two hours," she said and Kuon nodded. He picked up a pair of headphones which were designer for the first class passengers. He patted the large TV screen in front of him.

"Did you want to watch a movie together?" he asked and Kyoko grinned. She took one of the ear pieces and then he took the other before wrapping his arm around her and Kyoko pushed down the arm rest between them, snuggling up next to him like she did when they would watch a movie at their home. Hopefully there would be many more movie nights in the future. She could get used to being the one being spoiled in the relationship.

Kuon scrolled through the listings, "Tell me when you see something you'd like to watch," he said and Kyoko giggled before she pointed to the screen.

"How about that one with Ren Tsuruga?" she asked him and Kuon rolled his eyes.

"Really, that actor?" he teased her. Unlike Sho his ego wasn't so big that he had to watch himself all the time. Actually, unless he was studying his own acting in hopes to improve it, it wasn't in his nature to want to watch himself.

"Well, he is my favorite," Kyoko smiled up at him and Kuon pulled her in a bit closer. He didn't have words to explain how much he loved her and she didn't have words to describe how safe and loved he made her.

Kyoko had wanted to go out for a walk in the early morning but she hadn't wanted to disturb Kuon. He always struggled to sleep but he had been having plenty of rest lately, she didn't want to ruin it. Kyoko had given him a note saying that she would be at the small café that they had seen before in about forty minutes if he wanted to join her. She hoped that she would be sitting there for a while before he came in, she wanted for him to get his sleep.

California really was an interesting place and she was excited to be living here. The previous day she had been captivated by hearing her love speak in a Californian accent, which, considering who he was actually was his natural voice. Kyoko had felt that Ren Tsuruga always had a magical voice, very smooth Japanese accent that mirrored his high place in society.

She hadn't thought about how he would sound when he spoke English in his normal voice and even though she had heard it before, she hadn't been as taken aback by it as she had been the previous day. When he had spoke using English, he had mainly used a British accent because of his work as Cain Heel. His Californian accent sounded more relaxed, more casual, a little bit sufer-dude as people said in analyzing movies.

As she came into the café, she was caught by his stunning blond hair and her heart seemed to melt. She smiled at him but he was looking away from her. At the side of the table were two women who looked as if they had spent the entire morning shopping for designer items.

"Let me buy you a drink," one of the girls said and the other one pouted.

"Let me buy you the drink. You're so hot," she blushed and Kuon looked away from both of them. He frowned before trying to use his normal tactic to get young women to leave him alone when they thought that he could be their boyfriend. He raised his hand and gave a shy and embarrassed smile, using his acting to try to fool them.

"извините, я не говорю по-английски. Я полагаю, вы не говорите по-русски. пожалуйста, дайте мне немного места. хорошего дня.( izvinite, ya ne govoryu po-angliyski. YA polagayu, vy ne govorite po-russki. pozhaluysta, dayte mne nemnogo mesta. khoroshego dnya."

Kuon looked at them again with some embarrassment on his face as he tried to get his space from them. The two women looked to one another a little confused. They laughed before one of them took his hand and he instantly pulled back. He stood up, deciding to wait for Kyoko outside the café if he was going to continue having his space invaded.

As he turned though, he saw Kyoko who walked over to him a little uncharacteristically and draped her arms around his neck, kissing him passionately. "What was that?" she asked and Kuon blinked.

"Just ignore them," he said as the girls' jaws dropped at how he actually spoke with a perfect Californian accent despite speaking in a foreign language just a few moments ago. He kissed Kyoko again and gently and playfully poked her forehead, "You're acting cute today, a little over protectiveness makes me feel good," he teased her and Kyoko smiled, bowing her head.

"You always sound sexy when you speak in a foreign language," she told him and took his hand, squeezing it in hers. She was excited that she had left him a note to meet her somewhere and whereas Shotaro would have said it was a bother for him to come and for her to make him come, Kuon had arrived without complaint and had even been waiting for her.

"Really?" he asked before looking at her with a grin.

"Ya lyubiyu tebya, kioko," he told her and Kyoko blinked at him trying to remember if she knew any of those words. He chuckled before repeating in the same tone of voice, "I love you, Kyoko."

"I love you too," Kyoko told him speaking her extra formal English. She liked how they could speak Japanese together now with many people not knowing what they might be saying to one another. "Are you going to tell me exactly what you said to those ladies though?"

"Sorry, I do not speak English. I suppose you don't speak Russian. Please give me some space. Have a nice day," Kuon smiled to her and Kyoko rested her head on his arm. He was always so polite even when he was trying to get two pathetic girls to back off from him.

"You promised you'd be mine," she said feeling like a greedy child for saying that.

He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it in a romantic manner, "I am yours."

….

….

Kyoko stood in the middle of the hallway in the beach house with Kuon. She was getting their dinner ready and she was actually happy that she got to make all his meals for him. It meant that she was absolutely certain that he ate and ate well. She could smell the steak from the kitchen and she heard the door open. She turned around excitedly. "Welcome home," she said only to be met by Kuon's eyes turning a burnt sienna as he glared at her.

"I'm not home. I'm just grabbing some things and then going out again. I don't want to stay here," he told her and Kyoko stared at him not sure why he was acting this way. He stomped off to the bedroom and threw some things in a bag.

Kyoko looked at him nervously, "What are you doing?" she asked and he completely ignored her. "How long will you be gone?"

"I'll be gone however damn long I'm gone," he said before going out of the front door and Kyoko turned around, this wasn't their nice Californian home, this was the apartment that she used to live in with Shotaro. She looked at her clothes and saw her black hair hanging over her shoulder and then her eyes widened. She was wearing a Moz burger uniform. What was…

Kyoko sat up quickly, feeling herself sweating and she looked up to see that she had fallen asleep on Kuon's lap. He gently let his fingers run through her hair as he smiled upon her, beaming happily. "Yeah, that jet lag can be a pain," he said and Kyoko nodded. She didn't' want to even hint at her insecurity that this would turn out just like the last time.
