A/N hey guys, hope you like part 1. Here's the next section. This one takes place on a separate-ish timeline as Sylar is able to time travel in this version. However the events of the previous chapter still occured. Anyways, enough chatter here's the story. Thanks for reading :) Sorry for how short it is, but I couldn't figure out any ideas to add on this piece. Edit: fixed grammar issues

Chapter 3: Captain

It was the March of 1942, a relatively terrible year. World War II was currently happening, as Hitler took his place as a powerful dictator. I made my way through New York during this time. The journey was easy enough, shut my eyes and focus on a place or time and I'd be there. It was simple enough, but once I got there it wasn't as easy as I expected.

I enlisted myself into the army, as I started to hear rumours about a certain experiment happening. The American army was constructing some kind of super soldier to fight for them. At first I had the confidence that I was going to be enlisted right away, but the army unfortunately did not think I had the physique for it.

I trained hard for a couple months, building up my muscles. I tried once again to enlist, and managed to get into service. It wasn't so bad after a while, the drill sergeant didn't seem to care for me all that much, as he instead picked on a newby. A guy called Chris Rogers, he was skinny and short for his age. Chris got the worst dealt to him during that time, but honestly he should have seen it coming. The man was pathetic, it was pitiful.

During service, I was praised for my accomplishments as I managed to intercept a message from the enemy, not long after I got promoted to private second class. I heard rumors about an experiment to create an American super soldier.

I tried thinking of who would be the best candidate, maybe it would be Morgan. That guy had shit for brains but he was a good soldier, he could fight and take orders, a decent enough lab rat. I however had my hopes up that they'd pick me. I wasn't high ranking yet, but I had that potential and a certain genetic advantage compared to these other guys.

When I first got there I met this beautiful woman, her name was Peggy Carter. I thought of her as our babysitter for how she treated us. During our drills I happened to see her watching us from the sidelines, I could tell from the looks she was giving Rogers that she had a thing for him. She was a beautiful tall glass of water. Thin, long brown hair and a sleek professional outfit on.

Something about her got me thinking, maybe she could be my ticket into being apart of that experiment. But then I noticed someone had been watching us, I turned to look around and I saw a scientist standing there with his horn rimmed glasses. I followed his line of sight, he was looking at Rogers.

I knew that my approach would have to be a lot more subtle then what I've tried in the past. She was smart, I could tell. If I talked to her about it or tried to get on her good side all of a sudden she would catch on. Probably think that I'm some kind of double agent. That scientist guy seemed sceptical too, he's got his eyes on Roger, so if I approached him he would probably question my motives that I might get kicked out of the army.

I needed a plan, a good plan and the only option available was to get close to the scientist man.

One night I went out for a cigarette, in the distance I noticed a familiar looking figure in the distance. I got closer, as I noticed Rogers heading to the medical bay. I followed him from close behind, as I kept to the shadows.

I stopped right at the door as I listened in to what the scientist guy I saw from before joining Rogers inside the room, I guessed it was some kind of evaluation. I instead listened to them talking about Roger's record and how he applied to the army five times.

After a while I zoned out, as they talked more about killing nazis or something. So instead I headed back to my room to relax. The next morning I awoke to notice, Rogers was missing. I asked around to the other guys about him only to be laughed at for asking. I looked around to see a few people I usually saw on a day-to-day basis not there today, including Peggy and that scientist I saw yesterday.

I tried breaking off from my group to go search for them only to be pulled back into my squad. At this point I figured it was pointless to go looking for this secret experiment, sure, the power would be a satisfying addition to my ranks but there has to be something here that's better than that.

That's when I heard about the tesseract. A powerful cube from Odin himself.

And so I set out to get it from the clutches of that nazis from hydra, I made my way out with the expedition group along with sergeant Barnes which I worked rather hard to get into.

Sylar continued to fight alongside his American comrades only to lose his life in combat. At the young age of 35, Gabriel Gray (Sylar) lost his life in battle, he got shot with a bullet made out of tesseract energy. He never got the chance to wield the power he so desired, but at least he gave solace to the lives of others who suffered his torment.
