13/5/2020 A/N:
Hello all readers of CODE: Kronos. This is probably a most-needed message to be talked over about this fic. It's something that should have been addressed a while back but I wasn't too sure if anyone was still reading a 'sorta' dead fanfic. Or if any readers who have followed and put this on alert are still around.
Yes, this fanfic has been on haitus for the longest time. Truthfully, the prison section was where it killed me as it was difficult to figure out where I wanted to go from here. I did have a concrete story plot but I didn't know how to connect points and bring out other plot elements needed - it became in a way where I had to change a bit in order to do so which didn't set the pacing right. So admittedly, I did leave it to die to focus on other fanfics instead. And I apologise for doing so. I did attempt to revamp it with a new direction years ago but again I also fell into my problems in fanfic writing. Even that version was in a matter of speaking, put on haitus.
However, for some time, I've taken a different approach to some of my latest writing fics. I've organized my thoughts and worked on point documents to set how I want for the pacing, the worldbuilding and the character developments. And with what's happening to our world now and honestly, the mixed feelings I've gotten from RE3 (it really was mixed...), it brought out my motivation to take over CODE: Kronos once more and under a different light. Over the month, I've now have a much better idea how I want to approach the plot I had for this story and even take it much further. Admittedly, yes, you could say the pandemic has been...awfully one of the inspirations behind what I have in mind. I will not deny it (but I also won't write it too close to home considering I'm in this real-life situation. Also, again, not entirely close to home because it's a series about zombies. Nothing to it).
Thanks to this, it has even fleshed out a lot of problems I've had and tackled issues the previous fanfics around CODE: Kronos have had. In a way, I'm taking this story to have a bit more of a mystery involved rather than be a simple plot of "bad guys let virus loose out", and to revolving it around Claire Redfield, as well other characters from the past and my original characters. Even the enemies I've created are going through a new look, as well what they would ideally be like if this was a real game - how challenging but interesting the enemy type could be for the player and still try to keep to that Resident Evil charm (exclude RE6's enemy types).
Now, what am I saying all this on this fic? For one main point is that I am indeed reviving the fic once more but not this one. This one has held a lot of good memories and I am so thankful to the readers and your reviews that I cannot change this. In a way I want this fic to be a sort of memorial for my old ideas and the happiness I gave to you readers.
This old version fic is done. It will not be updated anymore. But the new version has been revived and is being updated. The title is as followed, CODE: Kronos the Enhanced Edition and you should be able to see it appear on the first page of Resident Evil now and then as I'm doing my best to update almost every week. At the time of this message, the new pilot and two chapters are already up for you to have a taste of what's the new changes and what has been kept from the old version. Also, you can find the same revived version in AO3 as I'm also updating on that side too.
I apologise for making you all wait for something out of this and I hope that with this revival, it gives you something to really enjoy and know that this plot is not dead for good. Additionally, you can find out updates from my Tumblr blog to know when the chapters are up or if I'm delaying because of writer's block (residentevil-codekronos on tumblr).
So without further ado: please enjoy the FFN fic (fanfiction net / s / 12845325 / 1 / CODE-Kronos-Enhanced-Edition) or AO3 fic (archiveofourown org / works / 13754382). And thank you so much for staying with this fic for so long.
PS. please take out the spaces from the links and add the needed dots since FFN just doesn't like links...at all...
