A/N: Hey, guys! Welcome to the last part of my Rayman 2 fanfiction! In the last chapter, Rayman restored the Heart of the World with all the 1000 Yellow Lums he found. Now it's time for the final showdown. Enough talk and let's get started!

Chapter 20: The Final Battle in the Crow's Nest

Razorbeard was in his private cabin when Spyglass appeared. ''Come in, you useless worm!'' he snapped.

The robot told him that not only had Rayman survived again, but he had already found the masks and was aboard the Prison Ship, which of course really pissed him off.

''I can't believe you're so inept, you bumbling, idiotic worthless fool! I give you a simple task and you can't complete it!(1) As a punishment, I will send you in molten lava! Meanwhile, I will solve the problem myself, so I have one last order for you: prepare the Grolgoth, I know how to attract Rayman!'' yelled the Admiral, and Spyglass, paralyzed with fear, did not object.

Rayman looked under him for one last time and got off the missile. The battle was almost over. He just had to defeat Razorbeard and it would all be over. He also hoped that Globox was fine, he was his best friend, and if he couldn't save him, he would never forgive himself. Arriving on the hull of the ship, he got off the missile and began to explore it, selling repeatedly attacked by pirates. But thanks to the energy of the Silver Lums that Ly and Globox had given him and the spirits he had saved, he was tolerable. There was such a huge army of pirates, as if Razorbeard already knew that the limbless hero had found all the masks and was aboard the ship, and this was not pleasant. He had to defeat him at any cost, even by dying in the attempt.

Meanwhile, Clark, Ly and Polokus were fighting pirates on the mainland. In the Great Forest, Polokus reached their fortress and fired a powerful golden magic, which destroyed it, while Clark tore them to pieces with his mighty physique, and was helped by Ly's magic. Restoring the Heart of the World had restored the powers of the fairy, and with the combined efforts of the three, the pirates had no escape against them. The spirit of the world accumulated energy and a blast of light enveloped the whole Glade of Dreams. When the light cleared, Ly no longer felt the pirates' presence, as if the explosion had defeated all of them.

''Thank you, Polokus. With this, we must have defeated all the pirates on the ground.'' said Clark.

''Now it all depends on Rayman. If he manages to defeat Razorbeard, this will be a total victory. Now I'll take you where he woke me up.'' said Polokus, who teleported with the giant and the fairy to the place where the limbless hero had brought back his masks.

''Now I'll start to meditate, I don't know what could happen.'' said Ly, who closed her eyes and started to meditate.

''I hope Rayman can win. He has to do it.'' said Clark.

Even Uglette, in her husband's house, hoped that everything would end well. He absolutely had to save Globox and defeat Razorbeard.

On the Prison Ship, Rayman saw Globox hanging upside down on the Crow's Nest, the main mast of the ship. This made him very worried, but also angry. If Razorbeard would even touch him, he would pay dearly for it, so he started running as fast as possible.

''Target acquisition!'' Razorbeard was about to shoot Globox with the Grolgoth, and the amphibian was terrified. But before the Admiral could press the button...

''LEAVE MY FRIEND ALONE!'' yelled Rayman, who came out of the fortress for which his friend was hanging and stood in front of him, much to Razorbeard's shocl. The Grolgoth fired a bomb, and Razorbeard thought he would kill both of them, but he was wrong, and was shocked to see that the limbless hero had survived.

Rayman looked behind him and saw his friend still upside down. ''Are you okay, Globox?'' he asked.

''I'm fine, Rayman! Don't think about me, take care of Razorbeard!'' replied Globox.

''But-''

''Go! Don't worry about me!''

Rayman was a little hesitant, but Globox was right. It all depended on him, and he had to defeat Razorbeard.

The Grolgoth began to shoot from the feet, but Rayman dodged the blows and used his fully loaded Magic Fist, which causes damage, but not many. He then dodged an attempt by the robot to crush it and fired an energy ball at a bomb that the robot had fired, knocking it back at the sender. The process was repeated once more.

''WHY DON'T YOU JUST DIE?!'' yelled Razorbeard.

''You will not endanger the Glade of Dreams, Razorbeard! The pirates have already been defeated on earth, and now I will defeat you too!'' replied the hero, and he knocked another bomb against the Grolgoth.

''Now I know I didn't need my powers. I have something else.''

''Exactly what, if you were locked in a cell and helpless before?'' asked Razorbeard.

''Something worth fighting for. And that something is my friends and the Glade of Dreams! You have enslaved the Glade for far too long, and all this must come to an end!'' replied Rayman.

''Enough! I'll put an end to your life!'' The Grolgoth leapt towards Rayman, but missed him completely and half of the Crow's Nest's grating gave way, causing him to fall, and the other part also collapsed, causing the hero to fall together to the robot.

''AAAAAAAAAH!'' screamed the limbless hero. During the fall, he saw tunnels full of molten lava. Was this the end? Was he destined to lose?

(''VS Proteus Ridley Phase 1- Metroid: Samus Returns OST-s'')

''Don't be afraid, Rayman. I'm here!'' There was a a voice, and it was Ly.

A Silver Lum appeared out of nowhere and took Rayman to safety on a platform, where he found a missile which he agreed to ride, then saw Ly, who was communicating with him via telepathy.

''Rayman, can you hear me? It's me, Ly.'' asked the fairy.

''Yes, I hear you.'' Rayman replied. ''How are things going?''

''In your absence, Clark, Polokus and I have faced the pirates. On land, Polokus destroyed all the remaining pirates. You were sensational! You should beat Razorbeard soon.''

''I saw a Silver Lum while I was falling. Did you create it?''

''Yes. As I meditated, I realized that you were in danger.''

''Thanks, Ly. You are always ready for anything.''

''Now it's all up to you. Defeat Razorbeard and victory will be complete.'' The fairy disappeared, and the limbless hero saw that it was not over yet.

The missile began to fly, chasing the Grolgoth along the lava tunnels, and the robot began to shoot all possible attacks: bombs to repel, fireballs, spikes and homing missiles. Rayman could fire with the missile, but the shots hardly affected it, so he had to find another way to hit it. In addition to repelling the bombs, he also found out that he could use the homing missiles against the user by dodging them, since they could also hit behind the target. With each blow he suffered, Razorbeard began to attack more and more aggressively and difficult to counter, also damaging the missile that the hero was riding, and the clash lasted for minutes that seemed like hours.(2)

Later, the Grolgth was badly damaged, and smoke was coming out of its mechanical parts. ''It's over, Razorbeard! There are no more pirates in the Glade of Dreams, and now you will join them too!'' Rayman declared.

''How is this possible?! My galactic army beaten by these midges!'' exclaimed Razorbeard, shocked.

''Too bad for you, Polokus has awakened. That's the reason I went looking for the Four Masks, to summon him, and they will no longer end up in your hands.'' said Rayman.

''DIE!'' yelled the admiral.

''I don't think so! Take this!'' replied Rayman, who fully charged his Magic Fist towards the robot, destroying it.

But Razorbeard wasn't done yet! ''I still have one last surprise in store for you, Rayman!'' he chuckled, as he pressed a button on aremote control, activating the Buccaneer's self-destruction. Rayman tried to escape, but was horrified when he found out that the missile had run out of fuel. He was trapped. He could only hope that Polokus would save him. The Prison-Ship exploded.

During the evening, thrown away by the Buccaneer's explosion, Globox fell to the ground, and found himself where Polokus had been awakened, where everyone were: Ly, Uglette, Polokus, Clark, the Teensies and Murfy, and even the baby Globoxes and a missile from the Menhir Hills. The little ones noticed it and ran into their father's arms, and Uglette also ran immediately to her husband and kissed him.

''Oh, Globox! You're okay, aren't you?'' she asked, worried.

''I'm fine, Uglette. The Prison Ship has exploded.'' said Globox.

Suddenly, something fell. It was a yellow and white shoe.

''That's Rayman's shoe!(3)'' exclaimed Clark, who recognized it.

''But I don't see his body. Did something happen?'' Asked the Grand Minimus.

''This shoe is all that's left of him. Do you think he's... dead?'' asked Uglette hesitantly. She hoped she was wrong, but it seemed so, and she put the shoe on the pillar.

(''Ending ~All is Lost~- Rayman 2 OST'')

''I can't believe it... Then he really is dead.'' murmured Ly, in an attempt to hold back her emotions, but with this certainty, it was difficult. She sighed sadly.

''No... It can't end like this...'' murmured Clark, on the verge of tears.

''No, this isn't happening! Tell me it's just a joke!'' said Murfy. He no longer had that characteristic smile of his, and like the giant, he too seemed on the verge of tears.

''It can't be...'' murmured the Grand Minimus, desperate. The Teensies were silent.

Polokus was also very sad, and tried not to cry. He wiped a tear. ''Did it end like this? Is Rayman really dead?'' he asked.

The baby Globoxes started to cry, but their father seemed even more desperate than they were. ''NO! I don't accept it! My best friend isn't dead, he can't be dead!'' Globox cried. Then, he burst into tears, crying even louder than his children. ''Oh, Rayman... Why did you had to die...?'' he whimpered. He fell to his knees and sobbed in front of the pillar. That shoe, that thought that his best friend had died in vain would haunt him in his nightmares.

('' Ending ~He's Alive!~- Rayman 2 OST'')

While everyone was sobbing, something happened. A baby Globox saw energy come out of the shoe, which began to react with something, and the tears stopped. Small footsteps were heard, and everyone turned. A figure appeared in the darkness, and a shadow was visible.

''Wait a minute.'' murmured Murfy.

''Is that what I think it is?'' the Grand Minimus asked.

The steps became louder, the figure in the shadows became clearer and more visible. ''No way...'' murmured Ly. The baby Globoxes watched carefully.

Coming out of behind a nearby tree, there was Rayman, who used a stick as a crutch, limping on his only foot. After a few steps, he tripped and his shoe returned to its place.

''Did you guys seriously thought I was dead?'' he asked.

''RAYMAN!'' shouted three baby Globoxes, who jumped on him and wrapped their arms around his non-existent neck.

''Easy, kids, you're choking me!'' exclaimed the hero, who chuckled a little.

''I can't believe it! You're ALIVE!'' cried Murfy.

Globox started to cry again, but this time, they were tears of joy, and he hugged his best friend tightly.

''Rayman! I thought I lost you forever!'' yelled the amphibian, on the verge of tears.

''I'm fine, Globox. You can stop crying, it's all over.'' Rayman replied, hugging him. Clark joined them in their embrace.

''You really did it, then!'' exclaimed the giant, full of joy.

''Rayman, you are the best! LONG LIVE RAYMAN!'' the Teensies screamed.

''Bravo, Rayman. Thanks to you, the world is safe.'' said Polokus, with an expression full of pride on his face.

Ly fired magical spheres, followed by Rayman's Magic Fist, detonating fireworks as the hero climbed the tree where the fairy was standing.

''You did it, Rayman. This evening, we celebrate you. Without your courage, we would never have defeated the enemy. Once again, the world has found harmony, and the Heart of the World is back together. Now rest, you may have to fight again. Who knows what tomorrow will bring for you...'' said Ly.

''That was really tough. When Razorbeard activated the Buccaneer's self-destruction, I thought I wouldn't get out of it alive, the missile had run out of gas.'' said Rayman.

''About Razorbeard, where is he now?'' asked a Teensie.

''I think he escaped, but he's no longer a threat, with the pirates defeated.'' Rayman replied.

The party continued at Globox's house, and a few hours later, a baby Globox took a camera and everyone posed for a photo.

Exhausted by the battle against Razorbeard, Rayman decided to go to sleep. ''At last, it's over.'' thought Rayman, falling asleep on Globox's stomach.

''He fell asleep. It was tough, he has a good reason to be tired.'' said a Teensie.

''He's been through a lot, that's for sure. Now I'm going to fall asleep again. But don't worry, I'll come back if you need to.'' said Polokus, leaving the house.

''I'm going to sleep too.'' said Globox, who fell asleep while holding his best friend in his arms.

For the next story, I think I'm going to do a new Super Mario fanfiction, and it's going to either be a one-shot series, or a chapter story, and both will be based on the bond between Mario and Luigi. (1): If you are a fan of the Spyro series, this reference comes from the similarity of this reproach with one of the lectures of Spyro: Year of the Dragon's antagonist, the Sorceress.

(2): The fight is based on the PS1 version of the game, and in that version, the second phase of the boss was much better than in the other versions, where you had to collect ammo repeatedly to shoot at the Grolgoth's arms to make it fall in lava. Instead, in the PS1 version, you have to dodge the Grologth's attacks and make sure it hits itself with its own missiles.

(3): After the destruction of the Prison Ship, Rayman loses his left shoe. Coincidentally, in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, if Rayman interacts with a shoe, he shrinks and will be able to drive his right shoe like a kart as he chases and stuns the left one to recover it and return to normal.
