Chapter 2: That would be fun
Alex spends her morning getting drunk, she was sleeping on her sofa when her sleep was suddenly interrupted by a phone call, checking on her mobile screen is Nicky Nichols,
Nicky: Hey stretch!..
Alex: Hey!, how are you, you back in town?
Nicky: Am fine!just got here, you and Amelia?
Alex: We are fucking fine Nicky!...
Nicky: Gross Vause! I know you and Amelia are still fucking you didn't have to mention it
Alex: Hahaha! Remind me why we are friends again Nicky?
Nicky: So, what are your plans for tomorrow?
Alex: I don't know Nicky! do you want us to meet or something?
Nicky: How about going out for a drink and catching up?
Alex: That sounds like a good idea. Where do you want us to meet?
Nicky: Let's meet at Red's Restaurant and Pub House. I haven't gone there for a long time.
Alex: At what time?
Nicky: We can meet at Red's Restaurant and Pub House around 7:00pm. That will give us plenty of time to enjoy our drinks and catch up, what do you think?
Alex: Sound great, tomorrow then!
Nicky: See you there Vause bye!
Alex slept until a quarter to twelve,she didn't even know at what time did her girlfriend came back, making herself and her girlfriend a breakfast, she then showered, dressed, and then drove to her work place .she works until round half to seven, when she decided to close the store, leaving her car in the compound she headed to the subway to meet Nicky in their usual spotting bar
She arrived at the Russian restaurants a few minutes before seven and took a seat in a booth near the corner opposite to the window.
"look who is here, Red said walking to hug Alex, Vause You're practically becoming a housewife now."
Alex blushed, "and why is that!" she replied trying to act offended by Red's words
"It's been ages since I saw you! You girls don't go outing like you used to ,
"C'mon You make it sound like it's been years, I haven't visited you like 2 to 3 months? or something."
"Amelia keeping you busy huh?" Red mocked her
"What? No! Of course not."
Its after catching up with Alex, when Red calls one of her girls, and there appeared a blonde waitress, hey Alex i will be in the kitchen please let her know what you want, see you later? yeah of course Alex murmured her eyes focused on the figure walking towards her, the blonde waitress was now approaching Alex to take her order
Waitress: Hi, am piper I will be your server tonight!
the waitress mumbled shyly, Alex kept her gaze taking a good look on the blonde waitress who was now standing two feets away from her, she was so beautiful, she was drawn to her baby blue eyes, her red lips, her long legs, jeez!., those slender fingers!..?, realizing that she was being checked out by the raven haired woman, the blonde waitress shifted uncomfortably , trying to regain back her composure
Waitress: what can I do you for Ma'am?
Alex: Alex! call me Alex, she replied, absent mindedly
Waitress: okay Alex, can I take your coat?
Alex: what?
she swallowed hard, trying to keep her face neutral, unaffected by the slender figure In front of her, the blonde woman blushed furiously trying not to laugh on the raven-haired woman reactions towards her,
Waitress: would you mind if I move you to another table coz this one has already been booked,
Alex: no!.. of course not,
Waitress: okay then please follow me!,
The blonde waitress said, leading the way so that the raven-haired woman could follow her, Alex followed, her gaze focused on the blonde waitress's ass and the way her hips were swaying, until she bumped, into a tall drunken man, fuck!... get a new fucking pair of glasses or something you bitch! the man muttered angrily
Waitress: Am so sorry about that Alex, will make it up to you,
The blonde said giving her the best smile she can manage
Alex: oh! that would be fun, she replied, looking the blonde direct in the eyes, on which the blonde Averted her gaze away shyly…fear losing her confidence,
Waitress: What would you like to start with?
Alex: just red wine please,
After something like 3 minutes the blonde waitress returned with a bottle of red wine with two glasses, anything else?, the blonde asked the raven-haired woman, its fine! will call, you just waiting for my friend so that we can order at once!, Alex replied pouring the wine into one of the glasses
Alex drinks her wine and checks her phone for messages. Sure enough, there's two messages:
Amelia "Hey babe am heading to my parents think I need to clear my head, see you on Monday"
Nicky: "am stuck in a traffic jam, running late 20 minutes please start ordering"
She doesn't really want to encounter the blonde waitress again quite so soon, so instead she pour another glass of wine, grab her phone and scrolls through her Instagram feed aimlessly, trying to distract herself from what just transpired and clear all the thoughts lingering towards the blonde waitress, whilst waiting for Nicky to arrive,
She's just reading a page about an Arabian woman who colluded with her two daughters to murder her husband simply because he strictly forbidden them from wearing jeans & trousers in general, its then when Nicky appeared coming from the kitchen where Red was, hugging, kissing and taking seat opposite to her
"Fuck, sorry. I was with Lorna and her cousin, it took me ages abiding goodbyes, and then I got stuck on fucking traffic jams
Alex smiles, putting her phone down on the table
"abiding goodbye, huh?"
"mmmhn, what ?you don't like goodbyes or what?"
"Not really. Excepts it doesn't sound like goodbye sex, rather than I missed you and welcome back sex"
"Fuck you, Vause. Nicky said while shoving Alex playfully
Alex laughs and gestures to the waiter who was passing nearby, hi sorry can you call for me Piper?,
The waiter nodded and left
"How is she anyway?" Alex asks, once they're alone again.
Nicky smirks. "she's good" she is working at momentower's women's clinic
"Awesome," Alex replies. "I'm glad she's okay. You okay?"
Nicky shrugs and smiles, okay enough about me and Lorna," what about you two, i mean how is Amelia?",
We are good,we are doing great!.. that earns her an eye roll from Nicky, so she continues,
"She's good. She's doing good. She has finally found a surrogate, hearing this made Nicky chocks and spit out her drink in shock,
"Oh um..i am so sorry guys"
"Nah, it's okay"
"So you guys decided not to go on with adoption?"
"Hmmhn! "Alex hummed,
"How did you guys even found her?"do you guys know her? I mean did you guys check her family background, DNA types, genetics, her educational background and shit?"
"I don't know Nicky, Amelia took care of everything the only thing am aware of is the fund, we paid to get sperm from a male donor, my eggs and now the fund for surrogacy and our lawyer!...before Nicky could form a word out of her mouth,
Waitress: You ladies ready to order?" the blonde waitress sweetly asked
Alex just nodded and smiled up at the waitress, Nicky look bemused with the face she was seeing,
Hey blondie you new here?
Waitress: Sorry?,
Nicky: When did you join here ?!Red didn't tell me she hired a cute blonde girl like you, and then she winked at the blonde, am Nicky, by the way Red is my mom, you will be seeing a lot of me here, Nicky murmured extending her hands for the
Blonde to shake, of which blonde gladly accepts, Nice meeting you Nicky Red's talk a lot about you, She gave a toothy smile, which doubled Alex's obsession towards the blonde,
"Just joined few months ago! ,Piper…my name is Piper!, the blonde answered blushing,
Alex looked at Nicky, she felt a little jealousy of how Nicky can freely talk to the blonde, if she was being honest, she wishes she was the one shaking hands with the blonde and not Nicky
the waitress, senses a sudden change in Alex's mood, she then raises both eyebrows and looks at Alex. As if to ask "did I do something wrong?"
something of which Nicky sensed too, to avoid the awkwardness from prevailing, Nicky decide to break the silence by ordering,
"Hey blondie, " I will go by pancakes" and please bring us more wines, the waitress then move closer to Alex waiting for her to place her order
"I think I'm having half grilled chicken with two buttered bread today, thanks," she then smiles weakly to the waitress as the blonde leaves.
"What the fuck was that about?" Nicky asks, taken aback.
"I have no fucking clue what you are talking about. Alex answered pissed,
OMG!, you like her, don't you? Nicky decide to tease Alex to enlighten her mood,
"Fuck off Nicky" Alex said taking a gulp of wine in a one go and placing the glass back on the table with un necessary force, she stood up pacing towards women's
washroom, she came back after 10 minutes later after calming her anxiety down, they continue chatting about this and that, its then after something like 30-35
minutes when their order arrive, they continue eating and chatting two hours later Alex decided to leaving, she didn't spot Piper when she was leaving, she abides her goodbye to Red and Nicky, leaving a tips of $300 for Nicky to pass it to Piper if she sees her,
Today was a busy day for Piper, she only got 10minutes to rest during her whole shift, she was busy serving customers, and taking orders each and every time, until her shift ended,
Changing from her working attire, picking her purse and abiding goodbye to Red letting her know that she was leaving, don't leave without seeing Nicky , the Russian woman muttered,
After she had met Nicky, she left the Russian restaurant rushing home to check on Carl, reaching to her home, she stood outside wondering if this was really that house that used to be crowded by people with lots of laughers, now it was like abandon dungeon ,
Opening the front door, kicking off her shoes and throwing her purse on the sofa and taking steps to upstairs where Carl's bedroom was,
"Hey!.. Carl you sleeping?"I told you try not to sleep all the time!
"Just got here like 30 minutes ago Siz" i was sleeping down stairs,
"Good!, have you taken your food and medicine?
"Hmmhn" Carl answered,
"So what do you want to eat now?".
'Come on Piper have just taken my food like 3 hours ago my stomach is still full!", Carl complained,
"Okay! how about I order us some pizza? Please Carl just pizza!. She pleaded her brother,
"Okay Siz you may order"
'Good boy!" Piper stood up so excitedly taking steps down stairs where her mobile phone was thrown on the sofa, flopping on the sofa, Piper grabs her phone and place her order, before she could decide what to do next, she is interrupted by a sudden ringing of her mobile phone,
"Hey Polly"
"Hi Piper", are you back home?"
"Yeah why?"
"Did Larry called you?"
"Probably haven't check my missed calls"
"Okay then you need to check and call him back"
" Why ?is there something bad happened?"
"Nah, he just called complaining that you haven't been answering his phone calls or texts, did you guys fight or something?"
"No! why are you asking?"
" I um... i don't know " he just sounded so sad!" on the phone thus all,
"Oh! okay Polly i will call him back"
'Pipes does he know?"
'Does he know what Polly?"
"I mean have you guys talk about it? the surrogacy thing?"
"Oh!, yeah, I mean, no not yet!, did you tell him polly?"
"God! Nooh! why would I tell him?, look Pipes I think you should talk to him before you went through with the procedure"
"I know Polly, it's hard ..i mean it's just that am still trying to figure out how to approach him about it! you know?",
"I know Pipes but the earlier the better, you guys are my best friends i.. um i.. just don't want see any of you getting hurt in the process!"
"I know will talk to him soon,
"Okay Pipes bye…
"Bye...
