It seems that inspiration struck faster than I thought. Here is another one. Enjoy!
(Izuki at age 17)
"Togata-senpai..."
Today I was visiting him at the hospital; even though it has been three years since that fateful day in which Togata-senpai had lost his quirk, the doctors couldn't find a way to reverse his condition. The only option was Eri, but she wasn't as confident with her quirk as I would have wanted.
"My little kouhai, you can call me Mirio, I've told you before" he said once he came out of the doctor's office. "And I've told you, you don't have to come with me when I have my checkups"
"It's been so long, it's become some sort of tradition, Mi...Mi...Mirio-senpai" I was embarrassed, I don't even call Hado-senpai by her name, not even mention Amajiki-senpai.
"You'll get there eventually" I could hear him mutter. "So, are you ready for the Sports Festival?"
We were walking away from the hospital now; we would be meeting Eri and Aizawa-sensei at the cafe, it was some sort of tradition. Eri's favorite hero was Lemillion and she couldn't wait to meet him everytime she could. She used to come with me when Togata-senpai had his checkups but ever since she started school again, she couldn't anymore. I had to admit, I was a little jealous of him; Eri was sort of my daughter to be, I would become her adoptive mother once I turned eighteen, and she wouldn't change her mind on this, no matter how much I wanted her to. I had accepted it, but the jealousy came up at times.
"Izuki?"
"Huh?" it was the first time he had called me by my name. "Yes? Mi...Mirio-senpai?"
"Are you alright? I've been trying to get your attention for a while" he complained.
"I'm sorry, I was thinking about Eri-chan"
"I understand, I asked if you were ready for the Sports Festival" he repeated himself.
"I guess, Kacchan has gotten stronger since last year's Festival" I said remembering I had beaten him in the semifinals. "But Shoto-kun is having extra training time with his father and All Might-sensei is planning his wedding so I haven't had the time to get some pointers from him"
Shoto-kun had won last year's Festival, I was second to him. That's how the Big 3 spots were filled, Shoto-kun was first, I was second and Kacchan was third. The ranking would change accordingly with the Festival's results. I wanted to win it all this year because I wanted to become pro at my best. But my anxiety and insecurities were getting the best of me. The Festival starts next week.
"Hey, don't stress about it" he said with his usual 1000 watts smile. "I didn't even place my first two years, you've been doing great since the First Festival"
"You think?" I asked.
"Are you kidding me?" he looked dumbfounded. "Remember the first time we met?"
"The time where you completely annihilated us?" I recalled.
"I guess that would be the first time you noticed me" he chuckled "I was talking about the time you were cleaning up some garbage and you thought I was some sort of doll"
"Ah, I remember" I said "you were really creepy senpai"
"Mah, mah" he dismissed me with his hand "My interest was piqued once you battled against Todoroki-kun" he said "You were amazing and, had you not convinced him to use his other half, you would've won"
"It wouldn't have been a fair fight"
"Certainly, but the fact that you actually made him change his mind was amazing as well" he said smiling "Izuki, true power doesn't come from a quirk, it comes from conviction"
"But..."
"You think my quirk would have been as great as you think it is if I hadn't had the conviction to master it?" that was a rhetorical question. "You have more power than you think, if you use that conviction of yours, you're going to beat everyone at the Festival"
"But, Shinsou-kun is also doing great due to Aizawa-sensei's training..."
"Izuki..." he called me and put his hands on my shoulders "I'll give you some pointers but the rest has got to come from you, understood?"
I could see it again, the image of a young All Might. Togata-senpai was a true hero, it was such a shame he had to lose his quirk.
"Izuki, why are you crying?" his confidence shook a bit "Was it something I said? I'm sorry"
"It's nothing Mirio-senpai" I said cleaning my face with my sleeve "You really are a hero even if you lost your quirk"
"Wanting to do what you can to help those in trouble… is part of the basics for a hero, right?" he smiled again. Yeah, he was a hero alright.
I have a crazy obsession with Lemillion, I almost cried when he lost his quirk in such a heroic way! Hopefully, more is yet to come. I haven't decided yet which male character I want Izuki to end up with so you can comment and tell me your opinion. So far, it's between Mirio, Kacchan and Todoroki.
