Private Identity: Quentin Beck

Age: Mid 40-50s (Deceased)

Hair color: Black

Ethnic Background: Caucasian

Base of Operations: Base under the sea, several bases in Manhattan, Formerly Hollywood, California

People of interest: Spider-Man, Daredevil, Tinkerer

Usual Enemies: Spider-Man

Abilities: Technologically enhanced special effects gear, including holographic projector, gloves and boots contain hallucinogenic gas. Also known to have other minor gear, see file VMY-003 for full range of confirmed equipment used by Mysterio during his lifetime.

Weaknesses: His ego is also a weakness. He wants an audience to applaud for his every action, due entirely to his Narcissism which stems from his prior acting career and troubled childhood. If he were to put his innate Narcissism aside, he would have defeated Spider-Man on several occasions. (See file VMY-004 through 008 for details on past battles with Spider-Man) Also, near the end of his life, he tended to rush things because of his physical battles with cancer. Furthermore, he seems to have lacked a great deal of imagination and seemed to struggle with the finer points of masking his movements and whereabouts from any determined investigator.

Personal Assessment: Beck had the education, abilities and resources to put world threats like Victor Von Doom and Hydra to shame, but he never did realize his full potential as a Super-Villain. He always had to monologue, always had to have an artistic flair with his work… And a perpetual losing streak that hounded him, like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Maybe his early failures in Hollywood and in life would mark him, and set him up to leave an opening, enough to change a victory into defeat, such as his last caper. The mysterious new sidekick Spider-Boy may have been an unpredictable factor, but his efforts wouldn't have changed the results in the end. (See file VMY-025, and HSB-002 for more details) Beck's self-destructive nature took in effect, and in the end, he died a few days earlier than his cancer would have taken him naturally.

It's a relief that he didn't realize his full potential as a villain, and a little disappointing that with all that power, he achieved so little.
