Chapter 94 The Midterm Show

Gary's POV

One Month Later

The last month has been spent preparing for the show, and tomorrow was opening night!

"Can you believe it Belle", I asked. "Tomorrow is my theater debut!"

Before anything else could happen, John walked up to me with my father's lawyer.

"Hello John", I greeted. "So, has my lawyer gotten me out of my contract?"

"No", John replied. "However, we have come to a agreement. If you agree to do one more promotional tour, you can leave your contract."

"Oh thank goodness", I said in relief. "So then, when is this promotional tour?"

And then...John said something I did not want to hear.

"We leave tomorrow."

"Uh...", I started. "Excuse me? For your information my theater debut is tomorrow."

"Not anymore it isn't", John stated before grabbing onto my arm. "Come with me."

With that John started pulling me away!

"Belle", I called out. "Belle, do something!"

The Next Day

Sophie's POV

This was it. Tonight was opening night!

I was backstage at the theater where the show was being held and I was doing an interview with some reporters.

"The students have worked very hard and I just know that they are going to do great tonight", I said.

"Thank you for your time", the reporter said before leaving.

Then...my phone started ringing.

"Hello", I greeted.

"Is this Sophia Yūijin", I heard a voice ask.

"This is her", I replied. "Who am I speaking to?"

"This is a doctor calling from the Pallet Town hospital", the person on the other end revealed. "Your friend Andy is in the hospital."

"What", I said in shock. "Why is he in the hospital?"

"He has been in a terrible accident", the person on the other end revealed.

"Okay", I said. "I'm on my way."

Ash's POV

I walked up to May holding a bouquet of red roses.

She looked beautiful in her costume which consisted of a white, knee length dress with gold, off the shoulder straps and a gold band by the waist; white ankle boots with gold soles; a gold chocker with a white, small, heart shaped pendant and gold, wrist length, lace gloves.

Her hair was straight and loose with a strand on each side of her head being held up by a small, gold, heart shaped clip.

She was wearing white eyeshadow with gold eyeshadow at the top; black mascara; black eyeliner with winged tips; rose pink blush; white lipstick with gold lipliner and gold glitter on her face to make it look like she was wearing a mask.

I was wearing a white, long sleeved shirt; royal blue jeans; red sneakers with white laces, white tips and white soles; a red, long sleeved hoodie that was unzipped and a red cap.

"You look beautiful as always my love", I stated.

"And you look handsome as always my love", May stated.

"These are for you", I revealed before holding up the bouquet.

"Thank you Ash", May said before taking the bouquet. "They're beautiful."

"They're from me as well as my mom", I revealed. "She wishes you luck."

"Good", May replied before putting the bouquet on her dressing table. "Because I'm gonna need it."

"No you're not", I stated. "You're gonna be amazing."

"You really think so", May asked.

"I've seen you in rehearsal", I pointed out. "You've got this."

"Have I ever mentioned that you're the best boyfriend ever", May asked.

"Only a few hundred times", I stated before kissing May's forehead. "I love you."

"I love you too."

"Gather around everybody", Will said getting everybody's attention. "Before you all go on, I want to say how proud I am of all of you. I know that you are all going to do great! Group hug everybody!"

With that we all did a group hug.

"Now then", Will started as we broke the hug. "It's show time! May, Drew, Dawn, Misty, and Brock, to your places!"

With that everybody began rushing to their places.

"That's my cue", May said.

"Break a leg", I said.

With that May ran onto the stage and I walked up to Brock who was standing by the side of it.

He was wearing an olive green, long sleeved dress up shirt that was buttoned up; light grey jeans and olive sneakers with white laces, white tips and white soles.

"You ready", I asked.

"I was born ready", Brock replied.

"Three", Will started. "Two. One. You're on Brock!"

With that the audience cheered as Brock walked onto the stage.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen", he started. "Tonight you will hear a story about an impossible love. Our story starts at a store window...with four mannequins."

With that...the audience cheered as the curtain rose to reveal the set.

Standing by the window display was May, Dawn, Misty and Drew.

Both Dawn and Misty were wearing white, short sleeved tops; black, knee length skater skirts over black tights under black, knee high boots with gold laces and gold corsets.

Dawn's hair was straight and loose with a braided strand on each side of her head pulled to the back of her head.

Misty's hair was straight and loose.

They were both wearing the same makeup as May but their glitter masks were only on one side of their faces.

Drew wearing wearing a cream, long sleeved jacket with gold shoulder pads that was zipped up; cream pants and black, knee high boots.

"These are the mannequins' names", Brock said before he started pointing to each person. "The one on the left...Yoake. The one of the right...Misuto. The one in the middle...Dorō. But the most beautiful one of them all...is Ai. These are no ordinary mannequins. At night...when the store is closed and the street is empty...the mannequins come to life."

With that the audience cheered as Brock walked off the stage.

"That was great Brock", I stated.

"That was so nerve wracking", Brock revealed. "I almost forgot my lines!"

With that I smiled before looking back at the stage.

"Another hard day of work", Misty stated.

"Hard", Dawn asked. "All we do is stand around all day."

"Exactly", Misty stated. "Do you know how tiring that is!"

Drew then looked at Sky.

"Oh no", he said. "Guys, Ai is day dreaming again."

"I've got it", Dawn said before walking up to Sky. "Ai, are you thinking about the outside world again?"

"Don't you guys ever wonder what it's like", Sky asked. "All we ever see is this street, but I'm sure there's so much more out there!"

"Ai", Drew started. "You're a mannequin. Mannequins stay in shop windows."

"I know", May stated before sighing. "If only I was human. I could go and see the outside world."

"Well", Misty started. "You are not human! You are a mannequin! So please get this silly human nonsense out of your head!"

With that May sighed sadly.

"Okay Misuto", May said. "I won't mention it again."

With that the lights darkened and the audience cheered.

"You're up again", I pointed out to Brock before he walked back onto the stage.

"As you can see", he started. "Ai wished to see the outside world, and this wish only became stronger when she met a certain man."

With that Brock walked off the stage and up to me.

"You're up", he pointed out. "Break a leg."

With that I took a deep breath before looking at Pikachu.

"You ready for your theater debut buddy", I asked.

"Pika!"

"Good", I said. "Then let's go!"

With that I walked onto the stage and looked at the store display.

"Those mannequins look pretty cool don't they Pikachu", I asked. "The one in the middle is very pretty. She almost looks like a real girl."

"She's not real Hai", I heard somebody say.

I turned my head and saw Ethan.

We wearing a pale green, long sleeved shirt; blue jeans; light brown combat boots; a light brown, long sleeved jacket that was unzipped and a pale green scarf wrapped around his neck.

"Doragon", I said. "What are you doing here?"

"Don't you know Hai", Ethan asked. "This is the best spot for a Pokémon battle!"

"Well then", I started. "Let's have a battle!"

With that the back of the stage darkened and the audience cheered as Ethan and I ran off the stage.

"Great job Ash", he stated before looking at Brock. "Up again Brock."

With that the audience cheered as Brock walked back onto the stage.

"Hai was a bright young Pokémon trainer training to be the very best like no one ever was", he revealed. "He began to come to the store window everyday to have a battle with Doragon. During this time, Ai watched him, and wanted to desperately to meet him. And she got her chance one night, when all the other mannequins had fallen asleep."

With that the audience cheered as Brock walked off the stage.

"You're on once again", he pointed out before I walked onto the stage.

"Hello", May said quietly before I began to look around.

"Who said that", I asked in confusion.

"I did", May replied.

With that I turned around...and pretended to look at May in shock.

"Wh...who are you", I asked.

"My name is Ai", May said. "Your name is Hai right? I've heard your friend Doragon call you that."

"Wait", I said. "You heard all that?"

"Yes", May replied. "We mannequins act like we're lifeless, but we're actually not."

"You're...alive", I asked in shock.

"Hmm", May started. "I don't know actually. Hai, what does it mean to be alive?"

With that I pretended to look at May in shock.

"I...I don't know actually."

And then...before we could continue with the show...something happened. Something that was going to put the fate of the Pokémon Academy on the line.

A light...came plummeting towards May and I!
