I don't own Minecraft.

I wanted to create something original. But I also liked the "I was sucked into Minecraft" idea. So here we are. I decided to turn that idea into a story. This will be a chapter book, but not a very long one, seeing as I am still fairly new to this, as well as the pressure of updating with everything else going on in my life. So, enjoy! –DellaAwake

I dug the axe into the wood one last time, hearing the satisfying thwack as the iron blade cut through the wood and chopped the tree down. I picked up the wood logs left behind and walked over to where Timmy was hitting a tree with his small wooden axe.

"Timmy, time to go home!" I said. "Mamma's waiting for us."

"Aw, c'mon!" he replied. "I haven't finished yet!" I smiled and gave a hard thwack to the wood on his tree using my axe. He jumped up and down and grinned as the tree crashed to the ground, then gathered up the logs.

"Let's go! I'm done now." Laughing inwardly at my little brother's antics, I followed him to where our parents were waiting and set off for home.

As we sat down to dinner, my brother chattering excitedly about the day's events, I chewed my pork absently. My mind was elsewhere, dreading the night ahead. I had always had trouble sleeping. Ever since I was a little girl, I found it difficult to go to sleep at night. Not because of nightmares, or the fact that I wasn't tired – no, when I closed my eyes I was out like a light. But whenever I went to sleep, my dreams were filled with the same thing – multiple voices whispering, talking, calling, yelling, and crying the same thing – "Wake up!" But when I did, there was nobody there. It wasn't a nightmare, but it made it all but impossible to sleep. It was very rare that I would have a dreamless night, and I never had any other dreams… I was jerked out of my revere by the noise of my brother getting up from the table. I realized dinner was over, and finishing the last of my pork, I headed to my room.

I did not go to sleep just yet, but sat on the bed for a while, thinking. It was my birthday soon, and I planned to ask my dad if I could go to the mines by myself. I wanted to investigate something I had found there when I was little… something that I barely remembered. It had said to come back when I was sixteen. My father said it had been left by a User, and was dangerous. But I was still drawn to it. I picked up my diary, reading my kiddish, excited handwriting. I remembered sitting on my bed, writing about that day…

_DIARY ENTRY_

Dear Diary,

Daddy took me to the mines today! It was a lot of fun, and I even helped collect some coal! But then three zombies attacked. I ran away while Daddy killed them, and found a room. It was made of cobblestone, and there was a little silverfish trapped in a cage. I wanted to let it out of, so I cracked the cage with my wooden pick. The silverfish bit me on the arm! It was a bad fishy, so I killed it with my wooden sword. Then I entered the room, and found a glowing book! I could barely read it. It said to come back when I was older, on the birthday when I "came of age". I crinkled my nose at this. What did that mean? I replaced the purple book and was turning to leave when Daddy came in! He was relieved that he found me, and gave me an apple to heal my arm. I ate it, and the wound disappeared. Then he noticed the book.

"Stay away from that book!" he said. "That is a User's magic". I asked if users were dangerous. "They kill everything they encounter, and can't feel pain. They use strange magic to enhance themselves and their weapons. Stay away from them. If you ever see one, run."

I asked what a user looked like, and Daddy said,

"They all look different, but their name always floats above their head. Make sure to remember this so they don't catch you." I nodded. Daddy then smiled at me.

"Congratulations on destroying a silverfish spawner on your own! You could have been badly hurt though, don't run off on your own again." He gave me a hug and then lifted me onto his shoulders, walking away from the room.

"Come on, let's go home."

"Ok!" I said as we walked out of the mine.

"Also, I think it's time you got your stone weapons.

"Oooh, really?" I squealed in delight as Daddy nodded. "Yay!" Today was so much fun! I will never ever forget it!

_END OF DIARY ENTRY_

I would come of age soon, and finally get my diamond weapons. My brother was going to get his stone ones, but I hadn't told him yet, wanting to surprise him. I smiled at the thought of how delighted he would be. Then my thoughts turned back to the book, and I remembered something strange. Ever since that night, my life had been clearer, more in focus. Before I found the book life had been hazy, like the world itself was a dream. But now all that haziness had transferred to my actual dreams. It seemed the book had given me clarity, but at the cost of my sleep at night. I planned to go confront it and ask it for my dreams back. Suddenly, a voice called out from the corridor,

"Time for bed, both of you!"

"Ok!" I called back. I flopped down on top of the bed and closed my eyes. But the moaning from outside kept me awake.

"Hey Dad, there are zombies outside!" I called out, grabbing my old iron sword from the wall.

"Ok! You go check out the back!" he called back.

"Right!" I ran out the back door as my father began killing the zombies out the front. There were three of them wandering in our garden. I ran towards them as they noticed me and began to shuffle forward.

I slammed my sword down on one zombie's side, flinging it into another zombie, pushing them out of the way. Then I impaled the third zombie on my sword tip and flung it onto the other two zombies. I saw one of them evaporate into white smoke. A different one took a swipe at me, but I dodged it and banged my sword down on the zombie's head, evaporating it. Then I felt a claw piercing my arm, causing me to trip and fall on my back. Looking up, I found myself staring into the rotten face of the third zombie. I cursed and pushed it off me, cutting it in two with my blade. It evaporated. Then I took a look at my injured arm. There were three long lines where the zombie had cut me, leaking blood. I pulled an apple out of my pocket and gobbled it hungrily, seeing the scratches disappear. I wiped the excess blood off my arm. Then I turned to go out the front and help my dad. But I never got there. Standing in front of the door was a tall being with purple eyes. Eyes that I was staring into, as the enderman let out a screech that cut through the night and charged at me.

Oh no. I let out a series of colorful curses as I dashed toward the fence that was the edge of our garden.

"The river, just need to get to the river and you'll be safe," I panted to myself as I ran. I was stopped short as the enderman appeared in front of me. Startled, I swung my blade at it and managed to clip the enderman's side before it vanished again. It reappeared a ways away from me, with a cut on its side oozing purple blood, and let out another screech. It was really mad now. I turned tail and dashed for the river again, barely hearing my father's cry as he saw me facing the beast. I was almost there – but the enderman caught me a few meters from the river, slamming a fist into my back and sending me sailing the rest of the way into the cold water. I hit the water with a smack and felt a shock of pain and cold go up my limbs. My last thought was,

"That's gonna hurt like hell tomorrow."

_Timeskip of 2 minutes_

I groggily looked up and found myself lying at the bottom of the river, almost out of air. Cursing myself for blacking out, I grabbed my sword and quickly swam to the surface, taking a much-needed gulp of air. Then I remembered the enderman. It had been waiting on the shore, apparently unable to sense me under the water. Now that it could see me again, though, it was back on the hunt. It seemed reluctant to enter the water, but that wasn't going to stop it for long. Indeed, it quickly found a solution, grabbing dirt blocks from the ground near the riverbank and placing them in a makeshift bridge towards me. I noticed the dirt soaking up the water, making a squelch when the enderman stepped on them, burning him slightly. But the enderman ignored the pain and advanced steadily towards me. This gave me an idea. I dipped my iron sword in the water and as soon as the enderman was close enough, I stabbed him on the left of his chest, sending a spray of water from the river on him, which on top of the water on the sword, hurt him badly causing him to shriek in pain and anger. But still he advanced. I gave another stab with my sword, but the enderman easily dodged it and attacked me. His fist hurtled towards my head, and I would have died, were it not for what happened next.

There was a sharp stab of pain in my right leg, and I was yanked underwater by a unseen force. I ignored the enderman's sound of pain as his fist made contact with the water, and the slight noise as he teleported onto the riverbank again, instead choosing to flip over and find my assailant. It turned out to be a drowned, who had impaled his trident into my leg, and while trying to get it out, pulled me underwater. Now it grinned evilly and began stabbing at me with the trident. Time lost meaning as I frantically dodged the attacks. I don't know how long I was under there, but I did notice when my air supply began to grow low. I had to make a move soon. But I couldn't get out of the river, because the enderman was waiting on the shore. That gave me an idea. I wanted to wait for an opening, but I was almost out of oxygen. So instead of dodging, I parried the drowned's latest trident thrust with my own sword and copied the maneuver I had used with the zombies, stabbing into the drowned's chest and lifted it up. I erupted out of the water just as I ran out of air, and flung the sopping wet drowned behind me – right into the waiting enderman.

The combination of the impact and all the water in and around the drowned was too much for the enderman, who finally dissolved into white smoke. I jumped out of the river just as the drowned turned around, and proceeded to lop off its head. The body dissolved into smoke at my feet, and the trident clattered to the ground. I stood there, soaked and panting hard, sweat and river water dripping down me, in awe and gratitude over my victory. As the sun slowly rose over the mountains, I put away my sword and picked up the trident that the drowned had dropped, examining it. It was made of a strange, bluish materiel that I didn't recognize. Then I looked at the points of the trident, shuddering as I realized they were carved from bone. Resolving to investigate it later, I put the trident into my inventory. Then I turned to go back to the house, but was stopped when a hand landed on my shoulder. I looked behind me and gasped.

"Father!" My father smiled tiredly at me. He had a cut above his eye and a gash in his leg.

"That looks bad! Heal it, quick!" He nodded but chuckled and said

"I'm not the only one who needs healing." He pointed to my right leg. I looked down and saw the trident wound the drowned had given me.

"I – uh, kinda forgot about that." He chuckled again.

"Leave it to you to forget you have a hole in your leg." I smiled sheepishly and took out a steak, devouring it and feeling my leg wound heal. My father did the same and his wounds closed and disappeared.

"You did a great job back there with the enderman and drowned. I was so worried when I saw you being chased by that monster, but it turns out my concerns were unfounded. Congratulations on a well-fought battle." I smiled proudly at him. "Come on, let's go home." I nodded, and we set off.

My first chapter book! Woo! These comments are probably gonna be a lot more casual from now on because there's no important news, so yeah. The next chapter will be up in a week or less. If it isn't, feel free to get mad at me. I hope you liked it! Please review if you want to give me feedback.

Until we meet again! -DellaAwake
