"I don't care. I have nothing to lose if I've lost Grace." Danny stated, his eyes had gone cold.
"STOP! She's alive!" The desperation in Emilio's voice was apparent.
"You're lying!" Danny hissed.
"NO I'M NOT. She's still alive!" Emilio yelled, his eyes widening as the car approached the edge of the cliff.
Danny jammed his legs onto the brake and the car lurched forward stopping merely inches before the cliff ended. He got out of the car and went to the passenger side. He dragged Emilio out of the car, grabbing on to only his shirt. Danny held Emilio at the edge of the cliff and yelled. "Tell me where she is! Tell me now or I'll let go of you."
Emilio gave him the address of the warehouse. Danny shoved him back into the car. "If I find her body there, trust me, no one's going to find yours." Danny threatened before driving off.
...
An old grey building stood alone at the address that Emilio had given Danny. He looked around from the safety of the car. He couldn't see any movement in the warehouse. Danny got out of the car, anxious to find his daughter. He dragged Emilio out of the car and walked towards the warehouse.
"Don't make a sound," Danny warned, his gun trained on Emilio's head. Danny uncuffed Emilio's right hand and clicked the cuff onto a pipeline outside the warehouse.
Danny peeked into the warehouse through a small window on the front door of the warehouse. He saw two men sitting to the side of the entrance. Danny braced himself. He opened the door and the two men who were on alert immediately reached for their guns but Danny managed to get his shot before they could. They collapsed on the floor in a heaping mess as Danny kicked aside their weapons.
Danny walked in trying to navigate the area. The warehouse wasn't huge but there were several smaller passageways that led to different areas of the place. Danny decided to explore the right side. His gun pointed forward, Danny walked cautiously. Coming out empty, he went to the other side of the warehouse. As he entered a smaller passageway, another man emerged from his left side and managed to kick his outstretched hand, causing the gun to fall from his hand. Danny immediately reacted by punching his face followed swiftly by a kick to his stomach. Unfazed, the man barrelled into Danny's ribs and they both fell to the ground, the man lying on top of Danny. He placed his hands around Danny's neck, strangling him. Struggling for air, Danny reached his hand out for the gun that was just slightly out of reach. He tried again shifting towards his right to reach it. He managed to get the gun and used it to hit the back of the man's head. When he flinched at the impact, Danny threw the man aside and shot him once. Danny got up, groaning in pain as his ribs and throat burned.
Catching a breath for a moment, Danny continued down the passageway, looking for Grace. He spotted an inconspicuous room at the end of the passageway, with its door closed. He hoped that he would find Grace there, at the same time he was afraid of the condition he would find Grace in. Danny continued walking and when he reached in front of the room, he slowly opened the door.
Danny was not prepared for what he saw when he opened the door. Emilio was in the room, holding a half-conscious Grace up and pointing a gun to her head. Danny scanned Grace's face. The right side of her face was bruised and her left forehead was grazed.
"Grace!" Danny called out, his gun pointing at Emilio.
"Danno?" Grace was uncertain. She could see a hazy figure in front of her but it wouldn't focus. Her eyes closed again
"Aww that's cute... you have nicknames for each other?" Emilio taunted, a smug grin pasted on his face. "Did you really think it was going to be that easy, Danno?"
...
Emilio shook the cuff, trying to get himself free. "Damn it!" He yelled in frustration when the pipe wouldn't budge. Hearing two gunshots in the warehouse, he hoped his men had managed to get rid of Danny. "Hey! HEY!" When his calls went unanswered, he got even more infuriated. He pulled at the handcuff harder, kicking his leg onto the wall repeatedly. He heard a click and kicked with more force this time. The handcuff broke and Emilio lost his balance, landing on the ground. He picked himself up and entered the warehouse, finding his two fallen men. "Idiots," he whispered under his breath. He picked up the gun strewn on the floor and ran towards Grace's room. He was pleased to find that Danny hadn't gotten to her yet. He carefully shut the door again.
"Hey! Wake up, stand up!" He whispered to Grace.
Grace's eyes opened for a moment and then shut again. Emilio dragged her up to her feet and held her close to him, wrapping his hand around her neck and pointed the gun on her head. He waited for Danny to come.
...
Lou glanced at Steve's face which was stiff with worry. Lou could barely hide his anxiety either. Grace had always had a special place in his heart, especially so after her relationship with Will was out in the open. He loved that kid and couldn't bear to imagine anything happening to her. "They'll be okay Steve. You know Danny is as tough as they come and when it comes to Grace, theres nothing he wouldn't do for her." Lou reasoned.
That's what I'm afraid of. Steve didn't answer. The warehouse came into view and Steve stepped harder on the accelerator, his heart racing.
...
The distant sound of sirens filled the air.
"Reyes. Let go of her," Danny begged. "I'm.. sorry. I'm sorry I killed your father. Please. You can do anything you want to me. Kill me. Do anything. It's my fault. My fault," Danny was at his wits' end.
"Where did all your attitude go, huh? Now you're sorry? Aren't you 5 years too late?"
"Please Emilio, just let her go. It's me you have a beef with. Not her. Take me." Danny pleaded, taking a step forward.
"Stop right there! Stop or I'm going to put a bullet in her head," Emilio threatened. "Throw down your gun." He demanded. "NOW!" He yelled, pressing the gun into Grace's head to drive his point across.
"Okay, okay. Don't hurt her!" Danny repeated. He did as he was told, and placed the gun on the ground.
Emilio let go of Grace and she fell onto the ground like a ragdoll.
"Grace! Grace!" Danny shouted as he looked at his daughter's lifeless form.
"Say goodbye to your daughter." A shot rang out.
...
A/N: Sorry for another cliffhanger. Who do you think pulled the trigger? And who got shot? Danny, Grace, Reyes, no one? You'll find out soon.
