CELEBRATION-It's their 10th anniversary and he thinks of different way of celebrating it.
Every anniversary is a milestone. Any kind of anniversaries are celebrated in many different around the world find that doing something special on their anniversaries and it's a one way to reaffirm their love for each other. We? Dinner with Candle lights or travel together or watching theater plays or having a picnic under the blue sky or gazing the meteor shower around the starry night. What could be else? Maybe some kind of different.
How many weeks?
How many months
How many years?
How many years are we together? Ten years, I never realized that we're nearing a decade together. And i'm proud of it! How do we actually celebrate our Anniversary?
Tomorrow, we're already Ten years, in ten years I never remembered a great celebration. It's always simple, but it's fine for me. Sometimes, I remembered that we both forgot about our anniversary on that day, maybe because of we're both always busy that we forget to celebrate it. At least, years passed we're still together. It's so happy to think that every path, obstacles we take, our bond was so strong together.
Sometimes, I want to feel how to be in a unforgettable moment in celebrating our anniversary. How? What could be? When I will make her surprised? I want something...special. But how? Then one time, I talk to my friends, James and Zandar. I talk to them and made a favor.
"James, Zandar may I have a favor."
"Hmm? What?" James asked
It's our break time, so I decided to ask help to them for what will be a good idea to celebrate our anniversary.
"What do you think guys?" I asked
"What are the most things you do both when celebrating your anniversary?" Zandar asked
"Uhm...just simple things, we both watch theater, that's we always do but sometimes we go on a date, or we cook our specialties and eat it together." I briefly explained to them "Oh, so you do a lot of things to celebrate it anyway, then why are you asking? You can do what you always do to celebrate together with Sofia.".
"Hmm, guys it's been ten years we're together and I want something different to celebrate it." I said
"You know Hugo, if you want a memorable anniversary, then ask Sofia? You can both talk about it and make a plan to know that you both what you want to do, right? James said with his eyebrow arched up
I think about what he said. Maybe he's right, I need to talk to Sofia, if how we'll be celebrating of our tenth anniversary. After twelve hours, at last we finished our work, my hips and feet hurt a little. All day I just stand, no resting in a chair, my work? Production Operator, lot of pain in my body, but all of it are lost when I see her. Kind of silly right? She went to my workplace after her work and mostly in her day off. I'm 12 hours at work will she's just 8 hours, that's why she's early to out in her duties.
So, now we're together. Before I bring her back home, we eat together first, we eat street foods and drink soda while sitting in the park at the Broadwalk. I thought about what my friends talk about our anniversary, so I finished already my food and talk to Sofia busy eating her own food.
"Sofia"
"Hm? You want more? I'll buy for you."
She said as she stands but I caught her left arm and bring her back to sit beside me.
"What? No, that's not I want, I want to tell something to you."
"I thought you want more, what is it?"
"It's our anniversary tomorrow right?"
"Yes, so you want to ask where are we gonna go right? Or what will we gonna cook for our dinner? Or you asking what gift I'll give to you? Am I right?" playfully pointing on my nose as she said
Her questions kind of nearing to my point, she seems on a right mood.
"It's fine to me of what gift your gonna give, I want to ask of what a good idea for celebration we do tomorrow, just something different."
"Celebration? something different? what exactly do you want? She asked
"Different so our moments will be...special?"
Seconds of silence and her face, is she thinking? Maybe she don't want a different celebration. I was surprised when she starts to speak.
"It needs to be different? We're both happy when we do the same things every anniversary?" She said
Me? And then I felt a kind of little sad, she seems not interested to do different and unforgettable moment tomorrow. I just say yes. Even the truth, I frown cause I just suggest for difference. But I just let it.
Minutes come by, we're near at her home, kind of awkward because we're both quiet. Speechless! Maybe she felt how silent I am, I'm not that person to push what I want. I'm disappointed that she said we just do the same thing as always. She has her point, yet for me it's gonna be great and memorable on our tenth year anniversary. That's life! it's always like that and I don't want to push her furthermore.
"Sofia, I need to go now? Good night"
"Thank you for bringing me back home. Good night."
"Okay. I love you."
"I love you too."
I finally got home and I enter the house, as usual I'm with my brother, as always there's nothing new. I saw Axel watching TV at his favorite sports show.
"Hugo, your here? What do you have there?" He stood and see what I brought.
"What french fries and corn dogs again? Aren't you tired eating with those? It's always the same, buy something different? He said as he sat back to the sofa.
"If you don't want then don't eat it! You always complaining yet you still eat it!" I said
"Sometimes I suggest some burger instead. I'm fine with that." He added
"Then buy your own, you have money to get your burger." I said as I get the food.
"Hey, don't be mad at me"
"You don't want it anymore, right? Don't eat these." I said
I went to my room and there I ate my french fries and corn dogs that I brought, when I put it on a plate then I sit on my bed. I eat my french fries, as I chew it same that I think something. The reaction of Axel when I brought the food. I see in him how I talk to Sofia a while ago about our anniversary tomorrow. I slowly put down my plate and stare what's on it. Yes it's just a simple food on the plate, even I eat it everyday and I don't get tired to it.
It's like our relationship of Sofia. Even we have a fight, there are sometimes we became sad and mad, those things will always have in a relationship. Except if you didn't handle your relationship well. Even we have so many things block in our way, we find to get through to it. We have fights but we don't part, that's one thing that makes our bond stronger.
I thought that I don't need to expect if what we will do great or more expectation to celebrate. Sofia was right, we'll just celebrate it simple like we did every year. To be with the person I love and my heart chose to love is one of unforgettable moments in my life. Even it is a simple celebration, it's still a big thing. It doesn't need to be a great or grand one, just to prove or to see how you love that person.
I think this time I made a mistake. I should just be contented of what tomorrow brings, important is that time will pass and more happy years in our relationship with Sofia.
I'm still on that moment that suddenly my phone rung.
"It's Sofia!" Then I answer the phone. "Hello love, why did you call?" I asked
"Oh love, I just want to apologize."
"What? Why to be sorry about? Did you do something wrong?
"Love, I just want to be sorry to you." She says on the other line.
"Why are you so sorry? What did you do?" I asked her again.
"I'm so sorry that I couldn't give what you want for our Anniversary celebration tomorrow. I know you were sad a while ago."
I was stunned by what she said, so she felt that way too. I bite my lips because she didn't really have to be sorry, I should have because I was craving it when I knew she couldn't give it up right now.
"Love don't say sorry, it's not your fault, it's not your fault if you don't give me what I want, I understand. I'm sorry that I spent more than I expected. It's just a simple celebration to do tomorrow. Just like before, we would roam around, watch the movie outside, if we were on a budget then we wouldn't buy the affordable one and we would cook."
I cried. I'm just holding myself back because she doesn't need to know that. It really hurts my throat to hold back.
"Are you sure? You're not going to be upset to me?" She will.
"Yes ... no, promise!" My answer. Then, something gave me an idea for tomorrow.
"Okay, okay tomorrow? I don't have work tomorrow, will you tell me you won't be overtime? Or will we just celebrate it at night?"
"I'll tell you if I'm already finish until four o'clock. I told you earlier that our Line Leader was approved to that."
"Okay"
"Okay, there's still less cooking tomorrow, right?" I said.
"Why?"
"Just see it until tomorrow!"
"So you mean that in your house we are going to celebrate?" She asked.
"Just...? It's a secret. Tomorrow four o'clock exact.
"Okay then, you still had a surprise." She joke.
I giggled, "Go to bed now, goodnight, I love you!"
"Alright then! Goodnight too and I love you more!"
I finished the line, wiping the little tears from the side with my eyes. But I also had a smile on my lips that I continued the meal squarely and chilled. I was exhausted for a while.
After I left the bathroom to wash and changed my clothes, I went straight to my bed. I checked the time on the clock, its been already Eleven o'clock in the evening. Then I decide to close my eyes and on to go asleep already. Our Ten Years Anniversary is tomorrow. At that day, I eagerly went to work with James and another colleague, Desmond.
"Hey there! What's up?" James's intrigued tone while we were in Biometric.
"Absolutely- nothing." I answer.
"What's wrong? Didn't you talk to Sofia?" He raised his voice.
"We talked." I answer correctly.
"Oh that's it, what does she say?"
"We didn't talk about any other way to celebrate it."
"Why? You said you want to be different?" He added.
"It's not ... that I just realized that it doesn't have to be grand or to be different from the previous celebrations we were going to do today, because it's still more unforgettable than the baseless shows of love. It's not a simple one but that you do not have the same appreciation for one another? " I smile back.
"That's right dude! I agree with what you said!" Desmond said.
"Yes because I was thinking about that last night too. Should I be satisfied if that's all right?
"Hugo, Congrats! How long have you been together? For ten years? Relationship goals that's the best!" James said
"Yes, I'm kind of jealous, isn't there a buffet yet?" Desmond said.
"Damn it! If you want to, fall down you can put an apple in your mouth, you really like eating, you're going so fat!"
"Goodness! I'm not that fat and I don't care at least Vivian and I have been in lovingly together." Proudly Desmond said with his chubby cheeks.
"Of course she was tired of the thought of feeding you, but in fairness to her. She is Loyal." James said.
We then went into the Production area where our Department was assigned. A few hours too quickly, Thirty minutes before I cleaned the area again and submitted the form confirming that I was not allowed to spend time. I even passed James looking at me, he slipped and thumbs up. He meant good luck to me, before i even got out i was still waving to him.
Alright, as soon as I got out of the Building I immediately saw Sofia outside and was waiting, I stared at her as she has her newly dress with some purple floral designs. No way! I was still shaking, this silly girl truly prepare to look good but in fairness she was so beautiful in my eyes. Am I to happy? So that's it, she saw me and approached. She immediately greeted me. I felt like she was still slowly coming to me because I felt new in her outfit. So is that her surprise to me? Changing her hairdoo and her dress? Well, I liked it.
"Have you been here?"
"No, I just arrived exactly so let's go then?" She hold my left hand
"Where are we going? Is it at your house?" She said.
"No, not at our house."
"Wait, then where?" She asked again.
"Just come with me" He replied.
So that was it, She didn't even bother to ask where we were going. I already rode with my motorcycle, I didn't even have a car! Of course that's fine for her.
Sofia's PoV
As we drove down the road to our destination, I felt strange. I know where that is, but we don't always go to it, but at least I can't forget that place. He paused for a moment.
"We're here." He said I was still being helped down.
"Why here?" I said.
"In a sense, it's all because of where we have been, so far. We've been here for maybe three times now since we were. Do you remember?" He asked me.
"O-Of course I still remember."
I answered as he held my left hand and walked to the place we were going to. As we approached, I watched as we were walking through something that seemed had just settled.
And when we finally got closer, I first saw a cloth lying on the fine sand near the sea. There is a bottle of red wine and two glasses, two topper wear there but not too big, there is also a box of Cake there that is just right size, there are also three red balloons placed there still tied in the tree and some red roses.
I bring out something that caught Hugo's attention, the Pink card envelope still seemed like an invitation, I slowly put it at his palm and he took it.
Hugo's PoV
My name was written there and then I slowly I opened it and took it inside where it was written, actually I didn't know how I would feel, for the whole ten years because we used to do this as if we were just having a picnic. I'm used to it, but something changed in my letter, I opened it and started reading.
Hugo,
First of all, I want to thank you for all that you have done for me for your all sacrifices. To understand me, to care for me, to love me in truth I have nothing more to ask and most of all to accepting me for what I am, for me you are my world, my sky, my galaxy, my universe. You are so very precious to me. I want to be able to hold you forever and never let you go. And i hope to have many more anniversaries like this. I'm looking forward to the rest of our lives which I hope we spend together, but for now I'm just enjoying the time we have together. We both still have the rest of our lives ahead of us. And I'm looking forward to making more beautiful memories with you.
Happy 10th anniversary my love.

When I read it, I turned to face her, she even smiled at me. I don't know if I can cry or what.
"Happy Anniversary Hugo, do you like it? I'm sorry, as it was once again the last year celebration. Maybe I'll try to make it up to you-"
"It's okay Love even if this is what we always do." I cut off what she had to say. Then I continue
"I'm happy though, Thanks Love? It's just so simple that you already appreciate it, and where here again, where we first met. Thanks love, it's very simple but full of happiness. It's enough for me, for me you are my everything, I'm so lucky to have you in my life and I have nothing more to ask, I love you. I love you more than anything in this world! you are my better half. "
Then I hugged her and she hugged me back. We then happily shared my cooked Spaghetti and fruit salad. Not as great as the others. At least though simple is still the pure and true love. And that's our way of how to celebrate our Anniversary.
