Katsuki Bakugou was about to marry a woman.
But, he was the boyfriend of the number one hero.
The dreaded ceremony day of the Hero Billboard Chart JP had arrived, being a warm and beautiful day, with a shining sun illuminating the streets of Tokyo, the dry leaves of autumn zigzagged until they reached the sidewalk, people were wearing comfortable clothes and according to the season of the year. Everything was in tune, except for Katsuki, who feared what would happen at the event.
He arrived at the event with Uraraka, seeing the large number of people gathered in the place, he felt bulging in the head. Uraraka tried to take him by the hand, but he immediately refused and went behind the scenes, trying to keep his composure instead of being taken over by the feeling of guilt.
Some of the top ten heroes were chatting behind the scenes, including Deku. He chatted animatedly with his best friend: Shouto Todoroki. It was a miracle that he didn't catch a glimpse of him collapsing before the ceremony took place. Katsuki stepped up to hear what they were talking about, and upon learning the topic of the conversation, he broke into a small smile. Deku told Todoroki what had fascinated him with the quality of the hand soap in the bathroom of the ceremony venue and showed Todoroki the strawberry smell that emanated from his hands.
"It's fantastic, don't you think Todoroki?" Deku commented in fascination. "I will ask the receptionist where I can get that soap, Mom will love it"
He saw Todoroki nod, giving the impression that he was already used to the hobbies of his best friend, who despite having the most coveted position in the world of heroes, had the personality of a child who still loved things more simple.
"Ah, Kacchan!" Katsuki tensed, a blush crackling on his face. Deku had just seen him, and without hesitation, he ran towards him with a huge dazzling smile, being followed by Todoroki. "How are you?"
Katsuki pretended to smile at him but looked awkward because his fiancée was just entering the behind-the-scenes classroom in the company of his best friend and other heroes. Most likely, they were looking for him.
"Deku" He muttered.
Deku immediately noticed his reaction, and raised his eyebrows.
"Is everything alright?" He reached out to put a hand on his shoulder, which Katsuki pulled away, lowering his head. This caused Deku to become more concerned. "Kacchan?"
"Everything is fine!" He exclaimed, forcing himself to look better.
"You look uncomfortable" He agreed, Todoroki's gaze viewed him with some disinterest. "Are you sure everything is okay?"
"Yes, Deku, everything is fine!" He snorted, surprising Deku with his attitude, who looked at him in confusion.
At that time, they were sent to call all of the top 10 heroes to take up their positions on stage for the ceremony to take place.
"Let's go Midoriya" Todoroki spoke, putting a hand on his shoulder as a sign of leaving for the ceremony.
"Sure" He nodded slowly, giving Katsuki a worried look, making him feel guilty for his actions.
The ceremony gave rise, naming each of the heroes among them there were several who attended the UA, some not from the same generation of Katsuki, such as Nejire who ranked number eight, and Amajiki Tamaki at number five, likewise the only ones in Shiketsu were Deku and Todoroki who monopolized the excess places.
Katsuki knew that Deku was very proud to represent Shiketsu, although he always wanted to be a student at U.A. And he never could be, but he did not regret everything he learned in said school, because all that served him well and just looking at the type of man he became, did nothing but kindle Katsuki's heart.
As he named them, he glanced at Deku, who hesitated with his hands, it seemed that he was nervous. To top it all, Uraraka gave a motivational voice speech, which made Katsuki's liver twist just listening to her; Todoroki, on the other hand, only thanked him by being very serious, although he received a great day of applause and shouting from the girls.
He, like Ground Zero, simply thanked very proudly, and cursing insults at the villains.
When he passed the microphone to Deku, he grabbed it with trembling hands, salivating.
"Th-thank you very much for giving me this position" He said in a tremulous voice, forming a smile on his lips. "I hope I don't disappoint you this year and those to come"
The audience began to applaud and shout enthusiastically at him, raising Deku's smile, who bowed formally in thanks, greeting the rest of the audience with pleasure.
Finishing the ceremony, Katsuki decided that it was better to escape from that place as soon as possible, in case of running into Uraraka or worse still, Deku. Everything would go to hell if those two ran into each other or if they ran into himself.
However, fate had different plans than he wanted, because just when he left, Deku approached him again, only this time, he came alone, not in the company of Todoroki. Katsuki, as much as he tried to be evasive, couldn't do it with eyes as sincere as Deku's, who couldn't bear to resist his questions about his mood and if they could introduce themselves to his best friends, but when Deku was leaving in searching for Todoroki to formally introduce him, the least suitable person to appear appeared: Uraraka.
Katsuki wanted to disappear in the blink of an eye, but no, he was still prostrate in the place where his boyfriend and his fiancee met.
"Here you were, Katsuki" Said Uraraka, taking him by the arm.
Deku looked at them shocked, seeing the two separately.
"Oh! you were talking to hero Deku! "Uraraka said excitedly. "I am Uraraka Ochako, nice to meet you "
Deku reacted quickly, introducing himself formally and politely.
"Ah, I am Izuku Midoriya, very pleased" He held out his hand as part of his presentation, his fiancée accepted the gesture, while Katsuki was dying of anguish.
"Congratulations on being named hero number one another year" Uraraka smiled congratulating him, which Deku smiled gratefully with the congratulation.
"Thank you very much, Uravity" He replied, still not stopping watching Uraraka take him by the arm. "Did you already know each other?" He asked Katsuki, but he didn't have the courage to answer him.
"Know each other? Since we were in U.A." Uraraka spoke with utmost pride, tightening Katsuki's arm with happiness. "Ground Zero and I are engaged!"
No! Katsuki yelled in utter devastation.
Deku's face fell apart, losing the color of his complexion, his eyes revealing the disaster that was happening inside him. Katsuki hated every second that passed in that instant, not knowing how to stop him.
"Engaged?" Deku repeated reluctantly.
"Yes, we've been engaged for almost a year" She said proudly. "Katsuki and I have been together since high school, and this week we are finally getting married! It was about time, because Katsuki let a lot of time pass to decide the wedding date, he even postponed it"
At that information bomb, Deku's eyes grew moist, hinting that it didn't take long for him to start crying, but his jaw trembled, holding back from crying in front of them.
"I see ..." He was able to articulate, lowering his gaze to the floor.
"We would invite you but we don't know if you will have a lot of work, the symbol of peace has a lot of responsibility" Uraraka said quickly. "Well, I'm not interrupting you anymore, keep talking, Katsuki, I'll go talk to my friends, I'll see you at the exit" And with that said, Uraraka left them alone without suspecting the type of reactions Deku had to the conversation.
Katsuki didn't know how to speak to Deku, because he trembled, breathing hard, his chest rising and falling with difficulty, his breath emanating tremulously.
"So you were engaged" He blurted out inconsolably, clenching his trembling knuckles.
Katsuki looked up, suddenly panicking to see him about to cry, several people being in the same room.
"I can explain it, Deku" He replied agitated, trying to get closer to him, but Deku didn't give in, but took two steps back from him.
"I" His lower lip trembled, a tear fell from one of his eyes; the cruel reality was settling in Deku's head, since as soon as Katsuki approached again, he ran to the stairs, covering his face with his forearm. Katsuki went after him, feeling worse than guilt for what he had done for being such a liar.
When he caught up with him on the stairs, Deku was already crying bitterly, unable to contain his falling and falling tears, his cheekbones red with tears.
It was a devastating image for him to witness, knowing better than anyone, that he caused that himself.
"Let me explain it, Deku" He asked impatiently. Being five steps from him. "There's a reason I did this."
Deku looked up, sobbing.
"Why?" He cried in a broken voice, his hands trembling, trying to shake the tears from his eyes, without success.
"I'm sorry." It was one of those rare occasions when he would apologize, because Katsuki didn't apologize, but rather pleased people, but in this case, it would not work to please, since he had ruined the only beautiful thing he had had in his life, for being a damn liar.
Deku looked at him resentfully, breaking in front of him.
The tears increased in intensity, also his sobs.
He actually hurt Deku, unjustly hurt him and broke his heart.
"You-fooled me" Deku cried, his eyes narrowing, hugging himself in utter devastation.
"No!" Katsuki yelled. "No! Listen to me Deku, there is an explanation, I swear, there is a reason why I did all of this!"
Deku leaned against the wall, cutting in the air he could inhale.
"It's true that I am engaged" He admitted regretfully. That said, Deku gave a bitter, broken sob. "But I don't love her, I don't love Uraraka, really, it was a mistake to have gotten engaged without being in love, Deku!"
"Why?"
"I don't know, Deku! Maybe so everyone would stop screwing me around so much"He guessed, coming down a step toward him, who, noticing, backed away in panic and resentment. That hurt him. "I did this because I wanted to know you, and it's your fault too!"
"Me? why?" He sobbed incredulously.
"You are the one who spoke to me first" He pointed out. "You are the one who had an interest in me, you asked me out, so you are also to blame for things having happened this way"
What the hell did he just say to him? Katsuki wanted to disappear because of the lousy explanation he gave Deku. To further ruin things, he blamed those who had the least to do with it.
"If it's my fault" Deku calmed his cry a bit, taking a deep breath. "Then, then, we're done" He said with all the pain in his heart, noting that it was difficult for him to conjure that statement.
Done? Katsuki went into devastation.
"I will disappear from your life, if that is what you want." His voice was broken, passing saliva roughly.
I don't want that, he choked on those words.
"Wait, Deku!" He said when he saw him start to leave, heading for the stairs, to go down another floor. He stopped when he heard him, turning his gaze to him in pain. "Don't go, Deku, I'm sorry!" He held his hand, but he released it in fear of being touched by him. "Wait, please" Did he pleaded? It was necessary to do it, but none of that served to retain Deku.
"No" He said, his eyes watering and filled with bitterness, it could seem that they were lifeless. "One more thing." He took something out of his hero suit pocket and handed it to him. It was a small purple bag, wrapped in an elegant and fine red bow. "This I was going to give you today after the ceremony." He smiled weakly, looking sadly at the bag. "You said you didn't like flowers, so I bought you something different, I hope you like it"
Katsuki took the bag, but didn't want to open it, since Deku was more important than the bag at the time.
"Deku, don't do this to me!" He yelled desperately. "Let me explain it well!"
But, Deku left without looking back, without listening to him and without seeing how he too was disarmed in sadness by breaking his heart.
Deku's broad back was the only thing he caught a glimpse of in the distance from the crowd surrounding the place, a back that made him feel protected, his unmistakable green hair shining in the distance. It was all over because of his lie.
Katsuki Bakugou was about to marry a woman.
But, he had broken the heart of the number one hero.
Katsuki had messed things up and maybe they were far from being fixed, but he couldn't keep it up, he just couldn't keep lying to himself any longer.
The universe could be destroyed and even so, Katsuki didn't conjure living without Deku, he could no longer do so.
Being without Deku was like being lifeless.
In the same way, that same night he opened the purple bag that Deku gave him when he broke up with him, seeing that it was an All Might figurine, which he had told him several times that he would have like having it in his childhood and never had it. That night, Katsuki cried at the memory of his big lie.
The last days he had before his wedding, he spent at the agency, blaming himself and being miserable. For nothing in the world did he dare to see his fiancée, as much as he dialed his cell phone and wanted to see it, he closed the doors of his world and allowed himself to suffer in silence.
However, one night before the day most feared by Katsuki, someone who didn't t believe he had conversations in his life, appeared on the outskirts of the agency, when his shift was over. It was Todoroki. He told her that Deku was leaving for Los Angeles with the intention of overcoming the pain of her broken heart and getting a new opportunity, because she had been offered a job there.
"He leaves at noon tomorrow" Was what Todoroki said, drily. "I just came to tell you, in case you are interested in Midoriya"
Katsuki stood motionless, speechless. Deku wanted to forget about him. He planned to leave.
"You really broke his heart," he argued a little resentfully. "I thought you didn't care about Midoriya, but from your reaction right now, I can see that you do care"
"Of course I care" Katsuki put in defensively.
Todoroki was pleased, and without saying more, he left his sight.
Did Deku's best friend imply that he still had a chance to get back with Deku?
He would try, would make Deku see that he really was in love with him and that he loved him, he would demonstrate his feelings through words if necessary, as long as Deku listened to him, because he couldn't let him go without telling him what he felt, for if it were, it would be the end of his days.
Katsuki Bakugou was about to marry a woman.
But, he would try to get back the man he loved.
The day of his wedding came with a beautiful shining sun, but that day he would enjoy it if things had been different.
He wore his white suit and a crimson red bow, the same color as his eyes. It was true that he looked handsome, but he was not happy with that fact, other than continuing to feel miserable.
His mother spoke to him while he was in church, still half an hour before the ceremony began.
"You don't look happy" She said scoldingly, which pissed him off.
"I'm not in the mood for your comments, old hag"
"Hey!" She punched him in the head with her clenched fist, Katsuki was annoyed with his mother's gesture, but didn't react violently to tell her not to do it, although he deserved it. His mother was instantly aware of his attitude, missing his lack of reaction. "Katsuki, is there something that has you like that?"
Katsuki sighed disconsolately, wincing.
"I haven't seen you happy when you're with Ochako" She emphasized, staring at him, a gleam of concern in her eyes. "Have you been with someone else?"
There was no point in hiding it, even though it would probably be counterproductive to reveal his crush on a man. Overall, he deserved more than just scolding from his mother.
Katsuki nodded resignedly.
"Is it possible to know why you didn't tell your father and me anything?" She said exalted. He knew that would happen.
"I don't know!" He said as exalted as his mother. "It just happened, okay?"
"Why the hell did you wait until the end?" She slapped him with an open hand on the shoulder. "Do you know you're playing with two people?"
"I know, I know!" He mumbled, frustrated. "I know I made a mistake, I know I hurt other people, and I don't know if he can accept me back anymore."
"Everything okay here?" His father appeared with an anxious expression. His mother huffed, crossing her arms in annoyance.
"No! Nothing is right here!" His mother growled.
"What's wrong?" He wanted to know.
"What happens is that our son has made a mistake" His mother argued, pointing at Katsuki with a scolding hand. "And just on his wedding day he decides to open his mouth"
His father looked at him puzzled, taken by surprise. However, he recovered after a few seconds when his mother left the small room where they were, growling in anger.
"Katsuki, is that true?" His father questioned cautiously.
"Yes" He replied reluctantly, crouching down between his shoulders, feeling the worst.
"Why didn't you tell us?" He said a little offended, but he didn't feel shocked at the subject.
"I didn't want to have trouble with you" Katsuki winced, lowering his head, fixing his gaze on his shoes. "Besides I, I fell in love with someone else"
His father invited him to sit down, which he accepted, and suddenly he began to tell what he lived with Deku, his big lie, and how he had hurt Deku, but that he had also been hurt, because he loved Deku, and he wanted to get him back.
To all this, his father listened attentively, nodding with a very quiet air, but at the same time thoughtful. Unlike his mother, his father was very calm and he didn't make scandals, nor did he scold him. So it was easy for him to tell his story with Deku.
"You love hero Deku?" His mother entered in disbelief. Had she heard all his talk? Katsuki was pissed off, but restrained himself from screaming, for the door was open and he was in no mood to be heard. "This is unexpected"
"Don't listen to other people's talks!" Katsuki hissed, growling showing his front teeth.
His mother suddenly burst out laughing, as she closed the door with a safety lock, going to the exit. His father gave Katsuki a look that he didn't understand the reason why his mother was laughing, to which Katsuki replied in the same way, neither did he understood that.
"I always thought you had other likes, Katsuki, but you never dared to tell us for various reasons" His mother argued with pleasure. "Maybe you thought I would never notice, but now I understand everything"
"What?" Katsuki snapped, not knowing how to feel about that.
"Mitsuki, did you know?" Asked his father, puzzled.
"Know it?" Of course" She said teasingly. "Katsuki can never hide anything from me, as much as I think he can; Of course, I didn't know who he felt that way and now that I know, it makes me laugh!"
"Don't laugh!" Katsuki grumbled, offended. His face red with embarrassment.
"You are an idiot son" His mother said mockingly.
"Hey!"
Before saying more, his father put a hand on his shoulder, holding him back.
"What?" He faced roughly.
"Go, Katsuki" He said certainly.
"What?" He repeated, but this time dumbfounded.
"Go with him, Katsuki" Advised his kind and calm father. "Tell him everything you feel and don't worry about the wedding, we will take care of everything"
"But"
"Listen to your father, Katsuki!" His mother ordered with authority.
"Go, Katsuki" His father said again, pointing at the back door of the drawing room. "What matters most to us is your happiness, son, and if that happiness is outside, go for it"
Katsuki felt a lump in his throat, not with sadness, but with appreciation that his parents accepted and supported his happiness.
He didn't think it twice, and he ran out the door in a hurry, not without saying a quick one, but clear: "Thank you."
Katsuki Bakugou was about to marry a woman.
But, he run away from his wedding.
He had just arrived at the airport, using all his energy to get there and run in search of the flight to Los Angeles that would depart that noon.
He needed to tell Deku his feelings, even if it was too late, but it didn't matter. With everything and his white suit he would go, with the sweat surrounding his whole body, the aspect of being suffering in his own flesh, were details that he didn't take into account in that arduous task of looking for him.
Katsuki could do it, he could do it, far above the large crowd that encompassed the Tokyo airport.
Just as he turned his head at one of the exit doors, there was the unmistakable green hair, going to the door he had written on a screen, saying destiny to "Los Angeles"
Katsuki was very far from him, but he didn't take off the target from his sight. Without much thought, he used his Quirk to propel himself into the air and catch up with him faster.
"Deku!" He yelled desperately.
He turned in the direction of his scream, becoming surprised to see him flying toward him at full speed. His huge green eyes saw only him.
"K-Kacchan?!" He was able to articulate with difficulty.
Katsuki crashed into Deku, knocking him backwards, with himself being caught by Deku's strong arms. He trembled hearing Deku's racing heartbeat.
He just hoped he hadn't been too late.
"Kacchan, what are you doing here?" He asked, after recovering from the blow and lifting Katsuki.
"You can't go" Katsuki pleaded, bowing his red eyes to him pleadingly. Deku's stunned silence was a sign that he could continue. "Listen to me, I have been pleasing everyone all my life to save myself from problems, as much as I didn't like doing things, I had to do them without complaining, and I grew up with that, I became the number two hero living a life of pleasing my parents and my friends, and I forced myself to have a life that everyone could envy, but since I saw you the first time, I knew that my life was a lie" He stopped to take a breath, and continue.
"But, you said it was my fault" Deku articulated, lost in the subject.
"No, you are not to blame for anything, Deku, you never did anything wrong" He stated, showing himself vulnerable to the person he loved. "I was wrong to tell you that you were to blame, because I didn't know how to tell you things, but now I don't I need to think twice to know how I feel about you, Deku, I only want you, I don't want my fiancée, and I know that I have hurt her in my game of pleasing people, but with you I cannot be a lie" In an act of bravery, he put his hands on Deku's arms, clinging to him because his legs were failing him. "I'm sorry, Deku, I'm so sorry, I never wanted to hurt you" Damn, his tears appeared and he couldn't stop them, feeling Deku's serious look.
Deku removed his hands from his arms and turned, turning his back on him, grabbed his suitcase.
He was leaving, he was leaving.
Katsuki grabbed him by the shirt from behind, staggering with his legs.
"No! Deku, please, no!" He asked pleadingly. Deku stopped, without uttering a word. Could it be that he was giving him another chance to continue talking about his feelings? Katsuki would take that opportunity. "The truth is that I have only fallen in love with you, only with you, not with anyone else, I swear! Please, Deku, forgive me for what I did, I don't want you to go" He took a deep breath, a choked sob escaping him. In truth, he was trembling, as he clung to Deku with all his strength. "I love you, Deku, I only love you, that's the truth"
When he finished saying that, they announced that it was the third call for the flight to Los Angeles. Katsuki clung to Deku's shirt desperately.
"No, Deku! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" He screamed disconsolately, feeling that Deku was leaving without turning to see him. "Forgive me, Deku, please forgive me! I love you!" His phrases weren't even consistent anymore, but Katsuki didn't want him to leave.
Deku stopped again, though he still didn't look at him.
"I'm sorry, Kacchan" Deku said forcefully, and with that said, Katsuki burst into tears, seeing that Deku was heading towards the exit door without looking back, just like the time he broke up with him.
"I'm sorry, Deku, please don't go." He staggered on his legs, ending up kneeling in defeat. He was blinded by tears, not bothering to wipe them away, knowing the bitter taste of defeat deeply rooted in his palate, in his heart, in his entire being.
He was leaving, and finally disappeared from sight.
Deku was gone.
Katsuki took a seat on the benches at the airports, feeling so miserable that the earth could fully absorb him and he would not feel the difference of environments.
He regretted everything that happened, being aware that Deku gave him two opportunities and they weren't enough to convince him that what he did was a mistake that he seriously regretted. Katsuki recognized that you cannot always please people, much less yourself if you lived a life based on lies.
He had just lost the only good thing he'd ever had in his life, and all because of a lie, a damn lie.
And of course he had learned the lesson and in what way. Losing the person he loved.
After a few minutes, a person sat next to him, distracting him from his misery. He groaned, followed by a half-hearted sigh, noting that the person who had sat down gave off a scent that was very familiar to him. Katsuki cocked to one side, looking up, surprised to see who it was.
It was Deku.
"W-what are you doing here?!" Katsuki exclaimed in surprise.
Deku had another suitcase, other than the one he was carrying when he boarded the plain.
"I came back" He muttered simply.
"But, I saw you left" He replied without believing it. Deku sighed, rocking his head slightly.
"I went to retrieve my other suitcase, which was in the part where they keep the suitcases on the plane" He informed.
Katsuki was stunned, looking most closely at Deku, who was sitting on the bench with a certain thoughtful air. It seemed lovely to see him that way, well, when Katsuki came to see him thoughtfully, he loved it.
"It didn't take me long to think about what you told me" Deku confessed. "And that's why I went for my things, because I can't be without you." A blush appeared on Deku's cheeks, and he finally heard the doubt in his voice, the nervousness, the substantial emotion that only came out of his mouth.
Katsuki felt his heart pound in reaction to Deku's voice.
"But, you said you were sorry" Katsuki claimed. However, he didn't want to be deluded, although he perceived a small glimmer of hope within that dark tunnel that was his person.
"Yes, I said I was sorry" Deku recalled, nodding. "But, I meant that I was sorry because I wanted to think for myself, and go for my suitcase"
"Idiot" He mumbled at that detail.
"The truth is that I love you too, Kacchan." Saying that, Deku reached for his hand, taking it as a precious object. Katsuki swore that his heart would explode at that revelation. "I know what you did was wrong, but I don't hate you for that, I never would" He said gently. "Listening to you a while ago, I knew that you were not lying to me, that everything you said was true, so I won't leave" He assured, and in that, his beautiful and resplendent smile arose, dazzling Katsuki. "I forgive you, Kacchan, I forgive you because I love you, despite everything"
Katsuki couldn't help but throw himself into his arms, wrapping his arms around his neck, clinging to his essence.
"Thank you" He sighed gratefully.
"Oh Kacchan" Deku breathed longingly, hugging him warmly around the waist.
"I love you, Deku" He muttered anxiously. "I love you!" He hugged him tighter, accommodating his face between the curve of his neck, smelling the fresh scent that emanated from Deku.
Deku laughed softly.
"Me too, Kacchan" He said gently.
"Thanks for giving me this opportunity" He thanked, which he never did with anyone, but with Deku it was okay to do it.
"Sure." He broke away from the hug, laying his hands on his waist. Deku's green eyes gleamed bright, his lips formed a smile.
Katsuki leaned in to kiss him, longing to feel him close, longing for the essence of his lips to remain on his, because he didn't intend to part from him again. He wouldn't bear take it a second time.
Katsuki Bakugou was about to marry a woman.
But, he was in love with a man.
