Chapter One: Bitten
It was a breezy night in Dublin. The birds make their way to their nests to feed their chirping chicks, the geese are preparing to fly south, and the moon shined the brightest. Away from the noisy city was an estate which was a hotspot of magic. At least, to fairies.
The estate was called 'Fowl Manor,' home to the Fowl family, who is a family line that has been through many events, which in the past could have involved magic. But there is one family member in particular who has been through the most in his life. His name is Artemis Fowl the second, a child prodigy and the son of Angeline and Artemis Fowl Sr, and he has had underworld contact for a very long time.
At the age of 12, ( he's 16 now) he kidnaps a fairy and holds it for ransom, which in secret was to gain enough gold to start an expedition in search of his father (which he never admitted because he knew people would only pity him). But the fairy he kidnapped was a female whose name is Captain Holly Short of the LEP, who was not a fairy (or in this case, elf) to mess with for she was the first female captain in recon. But after this incident, Holly and Artemis have grown to respect each other throughout the years and perhaps small affection for each other as well.
Fowl Manor, 9:00 pm
Artemis walked casually across the hill of fresh grass, enjoying the fresh air. Ever since he'd gotten his memory back he has missed the fresh air and reading something besides his journals. He looked up at the moon, he was slightly surprised by how big it looked tonight since he was usually busy plotting new schemes. But for once he decided to take a little break.
It is breezy out here, perhaps I should have made the wise decision to put on my jacket. He thought, his expression turning slightly annoyed. Snap! Artemis immediately spun his head around to the trees eyes wide with caution, stay calm! If I do not keep my composure my guard could go down! The first thing he saw was two amber eyes, glowing in the dark, but as it appeared more, the figure was more clear. It was a wolf, but the size was not normal, it was halfway tall as Artemis. The wolf had white and grey fur, and fangs white as snow.
Artemis slowly backed away near the manor, if there is one thing he learned about wild animals is to never turn your back on them, if this method is true he should give Butler a raise. But the more Artemis backed away the more the wolf growled, and soon, it leaped in the air, leaving dirt flying behind its paws and landed on top of Artemis.
Artemis winced, the huge paws hurt his chest and the impact when he hit the ground almost made him dizzy. He tried to push the wolf off but due to his lack of strength, he couldn't do anything. "BUTLER!" He screamed but by the time the word escaped from his mouth the wolf bit down into Artemis' chest, leaving a huge bite mark on his chest, his suit ripped.
Artemis let out a gasp of pain and screamed, blood splattered on his chest and slightly on his face. The wolf ripped its fangs out of him with a sickening blood splattering sound, licking the blood from its fangs and giving the human a crazed grin before running off. The last thing Artemis saw was the sickening smile before his sight blacked out.
