Shatter Point
Chapter 1
Kotone wiped the sweat from her forehead trying to catch her breathe. She glanced at the clock hanging in the far right. She cursed under her breathe realizing the time. It read 8:00 PM on the dote. She quickly changed back into her black and white sailor fuku in the girls locker room. She left Azabu-Juban Academia for Heros. She tightened her thick winter coat around herself for warmth beginning her trek home. She took out her cellphone checking the time 8:15 PM. Kotone smiled, realizing she'd still beat her parents by 15 minutes. It was enough time to play off that she'd been home all afternoon.
Her parents worried constantly, about her safety even now; that she's training to be a hero. Kotone always thought they were being ridiculous. She could handle herself just fine. Kotone turned onto the next corner speed walking. The side street was poorly lit with shadows everywhere. She stiffened up with a bad feeling forming in the pit of her stomach. She continued walking ignoring the feeling entirely chalking it up to the poorly lit side street . Kotone saw a man wearing a dark green hoodie, dark jeans, and blade boot the opposite way as her. They passed not acknowledging each other when her body froze.
The man caught Kotone dragging her into a dark allyway. She was slammed against a wall feeling pain shooting up her back. Kotone caught a strong whiff of alcohol on his breathe. She was alone and afraid realizing what this man was about to do. She felt his warm breathe against her neck.
"I'm gonna make you feel god sweetheart, " he whispered in her ear. He forcibly ripped off her underwear. She wanted her use her quick or her martial arts training to get him off of her. Yet, she couldn't her whole body was frozen stiff. Kotone realized it must have been his quirk. She wanted to scream for help but her throat was frozen. He finally finished throwing her on the cold hard ground kicking her.
Kotone heard him insulting her while kicking he continue kicking her. The pain and humiliation was over whelping she wanted to cry but couldn't. She saw him brandish a knife and the realization kicked in. She was going to die in a cold dark allyway alone. She heard a woman yell and darkness over came her.
She woke up to a dimly lit room smelling of chemicals. She saw a heart monitor tracking her heart beats and a drip connected to her right arm. Her surroundings instantly remind her of the man, the pain, the fear, and the humiliation. She bundled herself up crying silently screaming into her knees. Hours had passed with nurses checking up on throughout the day. A kind older female doctor with a sweet smile took several tests and then leaving her alone. Kotone looked out the window enjoying the sight of snow on a roof of another shorter building connected to the hospital. The weather had been strange for the last two weeks extreme lows in temperature and the snow fall had gone over the yearly average.
Kotone wanted to move on, to forget everything; that had happened. Yet, it haunted her whenever she closed her eyes. The darkness, the warm breath, the pain, and being a prisoner in her own body. It was and is terrifying. She clenched her fists until her fingernails broke skin. The pain reminded Kotone that she was alive. She cried until her eyes stung. Kotone didn't even realize that a nurse had come until she was by her side.
"Oh dear, it'll be okay," the nurse said trying to comfort her. "I'm going to get you water. I'll be right back." The nurse left her side to fetch her some water. Kotone must have looked like a mess. Yet, she honestly couldn't care. Moments later the nurse came back with a plastic cup full of water.
"Can I see your hands, Miss?" the nurse asked setting down the cup of water. Subconsciously, she laid out her hands without thought letting the nurse disinfect the cuts and wrapping her hands in gauze. The nurse held the plastic cup to her lips assisting Kotone. She greedily drank the water letting the cool fluid drip down the corners of her mouth. The nurse took the empty plastic cup away smiling kindly at Kotone.
"How are you feeling?" the nurse inquired trying to comfort her. Kotone analyzed her bandaged hands biting her lip.
"I feel like shit," she mumbled unable to recognize her own voice. It was hoarse and scratchy it scared her.
"I'm sorry for intruding," the young nurse in maroon scrubs apologize checking her vitals. "It's not your fault." Kotone turned her head away preventing eye contact.
"I don't want to talk about it," she replied coldly trying to keep her distance. The nurse didn't say anything else and left her alone. Kotone didn't like being alone it scared her everything scared her now. The door was aggressively pushed open causing Kotone to jump in fright. Her mother and father rushed in wrapping her in a tight hug. She started crying instantly in her parents embrace. She could feel her mother petting her hair.
"It'll be okay, our precious Song Bird," her mother mumbled into her greasy hair rubbing her back in comfort. The time passed without any of the three occupants keeping track of time.
"I want to transfer school," she stated still being held by her mother.
"We'll do that for you," her father agreed without thought. "We're do you want to go?" her father inquired still rubbing her back.
"UA because that was my second choice and I was accepted. I just went with AJHA because it was closer," she explained feeling lost, confused, and cold. "I want a new start."
