Thank you everyone who has showed support for this piece by favoriting and following. I truly appreciate it! I'd love to hear more feedback, and recommendation if you have any. Maybe inspiration will hit.
I began writing this bored in quarantine due to COVID-19. However, I am in the process of moving and also have a family member in the hospital. So I plan on temporarily taking a break from writing.
I'd love to return to finishing this story but currently don't know what direction to go in. I hope to bring every aspect from humor, romance, and seriousness of the Ouran universe into my fan-fiction. While also creating an original story line that does not follow the canon directly. I hope you'll all stick with me and be a bit patient if this doesn't update as quickly as it has been.
But I don't want to disappoint so here is the last chapter I have written so far! Hopefully you enjoy it
The host club stood perched on the pink marble staircase, hovering over Haruhi adoringly. The twins nuzzled her affectionately tears brimming their eyes, as they whined about her being poor. Tamaki somersaulted over a railing, before landing perfectly, frantically hollering orders to Kyoya. Who quickly whipped out his cell-phone. The cousins watched over the group silently with affection, Honey peering over his cousin's shoulder. The group began to settle, turning their attention to the ladies below. Women stood chattering eagerly. A crystal chandelier dangled over the ballroom. Created a bright halo affect over the room. Tall glass window's we're framed by red silk curtains.
The Host Club descended down the stairs and began to dance with the excited young women, a gentle hum of classical music filling the room. Excited chatter and eager giggles filled the air, creating a joyful atmosphere. The perfect cover for their mission. The Host Club had spent the past week not only planning and preparing for the party, but also creating an elaborate plan to bring two heart's together as Tamaki had called it.
Honey scanned the room in delight, as he spun his partner around wildly. His eyes landing on a girl with crystal flowers adorning dark curly hair. She was walking leisurely along the edge of the party, a soft smile on her face. A mischievous smile taking over Honey, glanced over at his stoic cousin. Bowing to his partner he headed over, climbing his way onto Mori's shoulders.
"Look Takashi!" Honey yelled excitedly, pointing to the girl in the shimmering blue dress. Mori followed his cousins' small hand, before looking out over the crowd.
Oh… His heart began to flutter anxiously. She came. Panic began to set in. She was so scared of him. He thought gloomily. How was he supposed to apologize? Dejected he sighed to himself. Mori reached up patting his cousin's head in comfort, Honey giggled in acknowledgment before shimmying back down on to the dance floor. Honey scampered off, eagerly finding his next dancing partner.
Turning to the crowd of squealing girls, a shy guest of Honey's emerged from the group, before politely asking to dance, silently he complied. His duty was to the Host Club right now, he could worry about personal matters later.
A young woman began to walk out onto the center of the ballroom hand in hand with Haruhi. Speaking pleasantly to each other.
"Kasuga-chan is here!" Honey whispered excitedly, leaning away from his dance partner.
Collecting himself, Mori acknowledged he didn't have time for all these confusing thoughts about the little archer, they had a mission to complete. Upon his cousin's announcement he also leaned back, watching the pair dance, awaiting Tamaki's signal. Face set with determination, and eyes glowing bright Honey and Mori zoomed past quickly captured Haruhi. They left nothing but a trail of smoke and a very confused young woman behind.
Running in a giant loop around the ballroom, the pair barged into a side room, Mori gently placing Haruhi down.
Honey jumped around eagerly.
Haruhi began to chide the room for the abrupt behavior, before suddenly being handed a dress. Honey shoved Haruhi behind the curtain with enthusiasm, releasing a happy cheer. Everyone eager to see her dressed up as a girl. They group waited outside diligently. Tamaki suddenly barged in berating the Hosts for leaving the ladies unattended. What was a host club without Host's after all? A soft blush covering their faces, as Haruhi emerged. Tamaki's hand came to rest over his mouth, face turning red from the bottom up, he chattered about his darling daughter. Wishing her luck, she disappeared with their fake love letter. After all there was nothing that brought a couple together more than a few challenges. This began the beginning of the final stage of their mission.
As Mori and Honey began to return to the ballroom. Mori scanned the room, eyes landing on the young woman in the blue dress standing with her friend in the corner. Hina spoke eagerly to her, a soft smile covering the young woman's face in return. They laughed together in amusement. He released another sigh. How was he supposed to do this?
A small hand landed on his wrist. Honey smiled up encouragingly before spinning around in a circle cheerfully. Eventually smacking Mori on the back hard. The sudden impact forcing him to stumble forward towards the young women. His cousin always was mischievous. Taking a deep breath, he walked towards her, closing the last of the space between them. He could do this!
The two-women quieted upon his approached, Asami's paused staring at him nervously.
She looks like a scared animal. Like a little sparrow that had been cornered. Maybe he couldn't do this. But determination won over his insecurities.
He paused before her unsure of how to continue.
He was there in front of her, now all he had to do was apologize.
But how? The awkward tension became heavier as the pair continued to stare at each other unsure. He glanced around the room attempting to find a solution. His eyes landed on his cousin out of habit. He was enthusiastically spinning a girl around on the dance floor. Inspiration struck him. Bowing deeply, he extended his hand in invitation. Pausing he waited for her to react.
Hina nudge her towards him with her elbow, breaking her obvious stare. A shy blush covering her face as she curtsied. Timidly taking his hand.
The pair walked onto the dance floor rigidly. Asami's hand wrapped around his arm cordially. The awkward tension only following them. Mori looked down sadly at her, as she glanced at him through thick eyelashes. She posed him a questioning look, as they turned towards each other. His hand coming to rest at her waist, while the other cupped her hand. She gently placed her hand on his shoulder, her touch soft as a feather.
A sparrow indeed.
The high-pitched hum of violins and soft lull of a bass was accompanied by the light float of a flute, and chime of a triangle echoing throughout the room. Creating a steady four count rhythm.
Mori led her gently through the waltz, glancing down at her. Asami's ear's glowed red from embarrassment. Her eyes stayed glued in between his eyebrows, but it was only a facade. A trick used to maintain the allusion of meeting someone's eyes as was mandated by their social protocol.
It didn't fool him, however.
Squeezing her hand gently, she shifted her eyes towards his. Their eye's locked. Time seemed to pause in that moment, music falling into a dull lull.
In that moment something seemed to click for the girl before him. A gentle smile took over her face before she let out a serene chuckle.
"I'm sorry for running off the other day. Thank you for helping me…" She spoke softly before diverting her gaze.
He noticed. Spinning her suddenly, Asami's eye's we're forced to return to his. Surprised she released a small squeak, tightening her grip momentarily.
Maybe a mouse?
Glancing down at her playfully. She returned his look with a knowing smirk, before laughing.
In that moment, everything seemed to change. Music filling his ears and her laughter seemed to light up the room. Their dance was no longer stiff but comfortable and elegant as they swayed softly across the ballroom. Asami smiled gently at him.
The music ended all too soon for the pair. Thanking each other for the dance, they returned to their awaiting companions.
Honey shimmied his way onto Mori's shoulders.
"That was fun, ne Takashi?" Honey chimed affectionately.
"Ah…" Mori returned faintly. The playful smile hadn't left his face.
