Chapter 6 : The Mysterious Healer

I arrived in the Brockton Bay General Hospital at the Downtown

While coming here, people doesn't look at me while I was passing through them. It doesn't really tell me much if it was because of my enchantments or if the people here doesn't care much about their surroundings. Still, it increases my belief that no one would recognize me when I am wearing my costume.

So I don't want to be seen by anyone there. They would surely call for the authorities if they find an unknown Parahuman roaming the hospital halls.

I walk to the entrance and then walk sideways just before the entrance.

I want to do this secretly and it seems like no one is looking at me so I am still not seen by anyone. I want to do this as fast as possible.

I quickly walk to the side of the building, looking for any windows that was open. When I saw one on the second floor, I used one of my magic.

Once again, while I was experimenting with my powers, I found out what I can do with my different forms. For Sicily, she have the ability to fly.

It's called flight magic really and it seems like I just need to imagine reversing gravity which somehow makes perfect sense to me.

Of course I am horrified at how wrong this principle is. Just simply reversing the gravity won't make people float. They will go straight out of the orbit.

Still, I can somehow fly just by imagining like that. My power is weird like that.

I floated towards the open window on the second floor and peek at it first. It seems like there is a nurse there taking care of one patient in the bed. Her back is turned back against me.

I quickly sneak around the window and I was thankful that they didn't notice me. With that, I quickly rushed out of this room to get to the hallway.

When I got out of that room, I saw that only few people are there. I almost flinched when one of them is very near at me. They just walk passed through me without even glancing at me.

... Is this because of the Stranger effect on my scarf?

Well, it was convenient for me.

Still, I must not go to any crowded areas. It would be bad if I became overconfident with my enchantments and they saw me.

So I carefully walk on the hallways while trying to stay low on them. I look like an idiot doing this but I don't want to be seen!

Thanks to one of my enchantments, I can easily move faster on the hallways. No one managed to notice me while I was walking through the hallways.

I visited every room I encountered while looking for the guys at the Union. It was a good thing that there are fewer people in this time because I am sure I can't hide if a lot of people are walking on the hallways.

After going through many rooms, I finally found them in a single room. They are currently sleeping comfortably on their bed and their wounds are now bandaged properly.

Though, I wanted to heal them so they won't need to stay in this place any longer.

So I stand besides them and use my healing magic on them. First is scanning their body with my magic. After seeing the parts of their body that needs healing, I next imagined of clpsing their wound, restructuring their loss cells, and then refilling the blood they loss.

If there is some crack bones or wrong alignments in their afflicted parts, I imagined realigning it or repairing those bones with my magic. If I saw some sort of disease inside of them, I used poison removing or disease removal magic. It's just imagining of taking out the bad bacterias inside them or any fixing the complications in their body. Even concussion can be easily healed.

I think I just healed something incredible but I don't know much about diseases and injuries. My scanning magic is convenient because it already tells what is the part I need to fix by using the intensity of the colors. If the color of their body in my scan is as close to the blue as possible, it means it was fine. If it's color was a strong red or maybe closer to it, it means it was a serious part that needs to be fix immediately.

How I know it? Somehow I have this instinctual feeling that tells me "This is how it's done"

"Phew... now that I was done healing them, I need to get back to my hideout now" I muttered to no one as I walked forward to the window to float back to the ground.

Before I did that though, I remembered the other rooms I visited.

There are a lot of people I encountered who looks hopeless and are in a critical condition. I don't care about them really because they are complete strangers to me, unlike those from the Union who are coworkers and acquiantances of my Dad.

Still, like it was something very against to the reason of my existence, I don't want to leave them alone. I want to save them too!

I don't know why I thought of that. I am just here to heal these guys just to make sure that they are really fine. I am not here to play saint on every patient in this hospital.

I am sure there are some patients here who are part of the three gangs like the ABB, the Empire, and also the Merchant.

Still, I somehow can't move my body. I want to go back to those rooms and also save those people, regardless of who are they.

... Damn it!

Amy Dallon was having a short break in one of the break room in this hospital, having a canned coffee while sitting on a chair besides the vending machine.

She was the well-known healer on the whole North America. Her Cape name being Panacea.

The cure-all to any disease. The answer to healing every illness that came to every people.

"Hah... as if" Panacea spat derisively as she thought of those propaganda for her Cape identity.

Even though she was the only known Cape that have the most versatile and potent healing power known to the Cape Community, she can't touch the brains.

It's not like she can't use her power on brains, it was because she was scared she forever changed a person, effectively killing their identity.

Her true ability is not really fixing human body, it was total biokinesis. The ability to absolutely control and manipulate every living organism. All she need is to touch it and she can control it.

It was a terrifying ability that constantly haunts her. She was scared that with just one wrong move or even just one bad day, she will do something bad with her powers.

And she knew she will do something bad because she was even having thoughts of doing it to her patients. Not because her patients are being jerks or something, it's just because their thanks felt very hollow to her ears and she was becoming fed up on hearing the same phrase to her everytime she healed someone.

And she hated herself for just thinking like that. She was becoming horrified of herself because she even got a thought like that.

This happened almost on a daily basis. And not liking the thought that she was a bad person, she always works overtime in this hospital for free. Always telling herself that she was the good guy.

Of course there are other issues why she was always spending her time on the hospital but she won't ever admit of it being a problem.

"Okay, time go back" She said before standing up and then throwing the canned coffee on the trash bin.

It didn't got inside and seeing it, Panacea just grumbled before picking up the canned coffee and then putting it on the trash bin properly.

After she does that, she saw a shadow passed through her vision making her jump back in a startle. She immediately stands up and look around her, only to see no one.

"... Ugh, I am just hallucinating things... there are not much people coming to this hospital at this time" Get a grip of yourself, Panacea added in her thoughts as she shook her head before going back to the emergency ward to continue healing the people in there.

When she got there though, she was surprised at what she sees.

This is the ward where the more critically injured people are put. This is also the place where Panacea mostly hangs out because only injured people can be cured by her. She can't do anything to the people at the psychiatric ward.

So it became obvious to her when she saw these people who were supposed to be bleeding somewhere or have some of their limbs or bones visibly broken, now resting on their bed completely healed.

Panacea called the nurses and told them about what happened. She was surprised when the other people who are in the night shift also told her about the rooms they are in charge of.

They told about how the people were suddenly completely recovered when they came back. Some even said that they swear they saw a shadow on the corner of their vision before they notice the one they are in charge of becoming completely healed.

Taking the permission to look if these patients are really alright, Pancea touches one of the cured patients and was baffled how clean and healthy their body became. It was like nothing is wrong with the body she is scanning.

Then she continued touching the other patients and saw that like the earlier one, they are also very healthy now.

"Panacea, can you also look at the people on the psychiatric wards. I think the others from there also saw some shadows moving in their periphery before those patients were healed"

Panacea was absolutely certain that some sort of Cape was doing this as she walks towards the psychiatric ward.

Then she scanned each people there and was completely amazed because those who are afflicted by disease are completely healed. There are some people who are still not healed though.

But Panacea felt that the person doing this is amazing. The only one they didn't heal are those people who are mentally disabled since birth, amnesiac people, and even those who are very old.

Besides those people, these mystery healer cured those who have schizophrenia, brain tumor, and other brain complication and diseases. Even cancer was somehow healed by this mystery healer.

She also came to the other wards and find the other patients who were healed. Also, they are healed until they were healthy.

It was unlike her who still needs biomass to heal someone and those she healed still needs to eat more and rest to recover the fats that she used on them. This person outright denies it and just made new mass for their body, turning them into healthy in an instant.

It was like magic.

Of course they also didn't manage to heal some people. These are people who have clear mutations since birth like those who have extra fingers, a conjoined twin, and even those who have a weird physiology since birth.

It seems like whoever is this Cape, they have a versatile healing power. Also, they can heal brains. Their only hard limit is that they can't heal something that was already natural to that person since birth or they can't reverse something natural like old age.

"Hey Panacea, we called the PRT. They just got here and was now asking questions below. They are also looking for you"

And of course someone will call the PRT, Panacea thought and mentally rolled her eyes as she nodded to the guy who told her that and then walk down the stairs to the first floor to meet with the PRT people.

She doesn't know who did it but in her mind, she was thankful that a new healer came in this city and helped her on those patients.

It took me a long while but I finally got out of the hospital after healing everyone I can.

It was pretty frustrating for me when I can't put some of them to normal. I can't return memories. I can only cure insanity it seems.

Cancer was also considered a disease and imagining it being destroyed was simple so I managed to cure cancer. Tumors are just complications inside their body so curing them will easily take it out.

Yeah... my powers are convenient and also weird...

Still, I can't take out certain mutations. I can't also fix someone who are borned weird like it was natural. In short, I can't fix what is considered natural.

... So I can only heal major wounds and cure diseases huh... body mutations is not part of that...

Well, I don't need to be so down by it. I helped a lot of people so I should be satisfied with that!

But I can't seem to take off the bitterness that I was feeling whenever I think of those people who I can't heal. It's like I am feeling somewhat incapable and was betraying those people by abandoning them.

I wonder why I felt like that? I didn't even know them!

I go back to my hideout with a mixed feeling of happiness and bitterness.

Yeah... she just acquired a lot of EXP by just healing a bunch of people. Yeah, those people are at the hundreds...

Of course she can't spam it... unless she finds another place where she can heal a lot of people again.

Because she basically healed 90% of the patients in that hospital, there will be not much if she returns there again and healed whoever are there again.

So about the OPness of healing magic. I remembered that was how it works on Kenja no Mago. They scanned for their injuries first before healing whatever is the afflicted part with their magic. I think the protagonist was the one who taught that to his classmates (including Sicily). Sicily was already very good at healing magic and give her modern knowledge, she can easily make those miracles just like what I wrote.

Of course she can't revive the dead. She can't also heal amnesia or even fix natural causes like age or complications of their birth.

But hey, I am sure the others will say "But Sizilien doesn't have enough Mana to pull all of this off!"

Did you remember what I wrote on the previous chapter? Yeah, it have something to do with Taylor and something else and that would be too much of a spoiler if I say anything more... so just wait for it!

Now then, while I think that is how healing magic works on Kenja no Mago, I might be also wrong and was remembering a very different series. If that was the case, I might delete this chapter and fully rewrite this... I don't know because I put a lot of time to write this chapter so forgive me if I am wrong...

Anyway, next chapter will have the obligatory PHO scene along with some other people... hope you like that!
