A horrid place called Jakku

Her name is pronounced (Ah-Rii-uh)

Sanskrit meaning: Of nobility and honor; great; truthful

Indian meaning: Goddess, Durga

Persian meaning: noble.

Two pairs of boots landed in the sand. One slim figure pulled off her goggles and face mask to try and gulp down what little water she had left. The other more curved figure passed over her own flask. She had no goggles, her ember eyes caught the light of the sun and almost seemed to glow, she pulled her hood down leaving the scarf covering her mouth and nose.

"You need it more than me." The slimmer girl panted. The thicker one laughed.

"No ReyBae I think you need it more." her voice was hoarse she was obviously tired. Her chest heaved as she took deeper breaths. She laid a hand on the small of her sister's back. The thinner one shuttered jerking away from her sister's touch.

"Uhg! I hate that! Do you ever get chills down your spine, Arya?"

"I'm not sure. What do they feel like?" they trudged through the sand, Rey less dehydrated Arya more weary.

"Like I've been shocked on the back by a faulty droid." both brunettes laughed. They returned to a bulky old red speeder and loaded up their finds. Rey jumped onto the seat and Arya grabbed onto a metal handle they had fixed onto the speeder. She placed her booted feet into the netting which held their supplies. "Ready?" She smiled back to her sister pulling her hood over her head and the red scarf over her mouth and nose. They reached their destination and quickly pulled their finds over to a covered area from the sun to scrub everything clean. Some assholes walked up startling Rey, muttering something in their native tongue, and the one fell face first into the ground. His buddy pulled him up as he began coughing and choking on sand. Looking wide eyed behind him. Rey got up to see what the parts were worth.

"A half portion."

"Please my sister needs to eat too, a full portion please." Rey felt guilty, she wanted to believe her sister was healthy but she had seen the last time they had enough water to bathe, Arya was sunken in, starved. Not only could Rey count her ribs, she could see the slight crack to one of Arya's upper ribs where they had been sledding in the sand when they were children and Arya had wreaked into an abandoned one pilot ship.

"Sell me the girl for the night and I"ll give you two full portions."

"She is definitely not for sale." Rey fiercely snatched up the half portion and dragged her sister away before that filth could say any more.

Rey stepped out of their make do shelter.

"Ari?" She didn't see her anywhere, it was her job to protect her. Arya was weak and defenseless on her own. She saw her coming over one of the dunes, something small and round chased after her. "You've got to be kidding me." Rey mummbled.

The little droid was trapped in a net.

"Hey let him go!" I snatched the net off of him. Throwing it at Teedo and sending him on his way. The droid chirped at me, "I don't understand droid but I'm guessing youre thankful. Here let me fix your intena." I straightened it. "My sister is going to be livid, she'd want me to send you to town, but I like you so you can come with me if you like." it chirped happily, "Rey will be able to understand you. She's the smart one."

It was late, much later. Rey had been pissed. She and BB spoke, he's doing some classified business for the Resistance. I wandered outside where he was sitting.

"Hey BB." I said softly sitting next to him. He chirped back a happy sound, I didn't really understand him but I could sort of understand his emotions. "Rey doesn't like that we could be in trouble for helping you." he made a sad chirpy noise. "It's alright though. I won't let her send you away until your master returns." inquisitive noise. "I'm sure he will be able to find you. What is all this about anyways?" he made more chirpy noises then began rolling away. He turned back at a few yards and chirped for me. "I'm to follow you?" I asked. He chirped and I rose to run after him. I swerved and followed him through mazes of dunes and sand until we were hidden in some wreckage. He projected something in front of me. It was oddly shaped and looked like consolations to me. "Is this a map?" he chirped affirmative, "Your carrying a map to something important? I'll make sure you get back to your master and this doesn't fall into the wrong hands."

"I can't believe you went chasing after a droid."

"He needed help!" We trudged through the sand, "Teedo would've chopped little BB up for spare parts."

"It's a droid. It's not alive, Don't name it."

"It's kind of alive!"

"Maybe we should chop it up for spare parts." Rey grumbled.

I whispered to BB as Rey and I drug the parts toward Unkar's little hut, "Don't listen to her."

Unkar inspected the pieces and shrugged. "I'll give you a full portion for these five."

"Last week parts that were worse than those were a half portion each. Two portions and a half." Rey demanded. Unkar Plutt tsked.

"What about the droid." Rey looked back to where her sister was cleaning more parts, the BB unit chirping inquisitively next to her and she said something to it.

"What about it."

"I'll pay for it." He slammed portions onto the counter. "sixty portions." Rey looked wide eyed and went to collect the food before stopping. Her sister was happy, she was never happy.

"Actually BB's not for sale." she walked away.

"Follow them. I want that droid." Unkar muttered into a transmitter.

They run about muttering in their native tongue. I felt my shaw be ripped from my shoulders. They slung it around BB.

"Hey!" Rey kicked him before being snatched up. She took them out as I uncovered BB.

"Unkar wants him." Rey told me pulling me to my feet. I was disoriented, "You know we can't protect it."

"Rey have some compassion."

"Arya have some sense! You have to be practical. You are already involving us in something way bigger than ourselves. You are not his mast-" BB made a noise, "What?" Rey looked up at someone, "That man there?" she went chasing after him with me and BB in tow. She cut him off and smacked the shit out of him with her staff. "What's your hurry thief?" Oh no, Rey really did not like thieves. Which was funny considering our line of work.

"What? Thief? I'm not a thief!" I tried to pry Rey's staff away from his face.

"Alright we can talk like reasonable adults." BB zapped him in the leg, "And droids." He zapped him again and I let go of Rey for a second to pick BB up and move him away from the poor man.

"Uhhh nice lady, she's pointing the stick at me again!"

"Snitch." I heard Rey bark at him.

"Rey what has he stolen?!" I asked once again trying to pry away the staff.

"BB says that's his master's jacket."

"I've had a pretty messed up day, alright? So i'd appreciate it if you'd stop accusing me and get that stick-" ZzZzAp! "OW!"

"BB!" I threw my hands up in the air. "Sir where did you honestly get the jacket?" Rey pointed her stick back at him and I knocked it away again. BB was waddling back and forth getting ready to go all Zappy-Happy again.

"It belong to Poe Dameron, right?" He asked BB, who looked up at us "He was captured by the First Order." BB chirped mournfully. "I helped him escape but our ship crashed. I don't think he made it." BB rolled away.

"I'm going after him to keep him out of trouble." I had to run to keep up with him. "BB! BB-8 slow-" the world around me stilled. I could see a man standing in the sand. My surroundings were hazy like I was underwater. "Why are you doing this?" I asked him. He stood straighter and moved to turn before disappearing.

There were stormtroopers firing at them. Rey watched in horror as BB suddenly chirped her sister's nickname and turned back. Arya fell into the sand.

"ARYA!" she turned back, picking her sister up under her shoulders.

"I've got her." he snatched her out of Rey's arms carrying her toward the hunk of junk ship.

A girl wakes, screaming, in an eternal night.

"Ari? Are you alright?!" when she said nothing the girl crawled down off of her cot to wrap the other terrified girl in her arms. "Hey I'm right here."

"Something very bad has happened." she rocked in her sister's arms eyes widened.

"It was just a nightmare, nothing has happened. We are safe and any moment mom and dad are going to come back through that door."

"YOU INBRED LITTLE BRAT, YOU BETTER GET TO WORK!" Unkar yelled from somewhere outside.

"Come on Rey." The images of stormtroopers and bodies circulated in her mind, she stood moving around like any normal person.

"Wait, don't forget your goggles." the shorter girl passed a pair of glasses to the taller, "You can't let Plutt see your eyes." she wrapped her arms around her sister's waist
