Jasper releases a breath she didn't know she was holding the moment she stepped outside and the fresh air hit her face. Jasper sighs as she leans back against the brick of the diner.
"Damn it!" Jasper hears, coupled with a loud bang, as if something hit the ground.
Jasper furrowed her brows, pushed off the wall and rounded the corner. On the side of the diner sits an alleyway and at the far end of the alley is Rai, the waitress, bending down to clean up a spilled crate, with two more stacked neck to her.
"Need help?" Jasper steps forward, into the alley.
Rai jumps at Jasper's voice before turning around. "You scared me." Rai glances down at the spilled crate and the two next to her before bringing her eyes back up to meet Jasper's, who is closer than she was before. "I do but-."
In an instant, Jasper moved and picked up the two crates on the floor. "I'll just put them by the back door."
Rai nods, almost dazed at Jasper's quickness.
Jasper shifts the crates in her arms before stepping through the diner's back door. She turns and places the crates on the side of the door before exiting back out. Jasper smiles at Rai, who blushes.
"T-Thank you." Rai smiles before she leans down to continue refilling the spilled crate.
Jasper frowns. She honestly doesn't know why she's helping. By all means Rai is pretty; light coffee skinned, curly black and blonde shoulder length hair and blazing green eyes, but compared to Garnet... Jasper shakes her head. Garnet, she's just been spending too much time with Garnet. Garnet's rubbing off on her.
Before Jasper can reply, Garnet's voice calls out to her at the mouth of the alley. "Jasper, we're leaving."
Jasper glances back at Garnet and nods. She turns back to Rai, watching the waitress struggle to lift the crate. Without a word, Jasper grabs the crate from Rai and quickly brings it inside. When Jasper emerges, Garnet is just a few paces away from Rai, who looks dazed.
Jasper smiles at Rai. "I'll see you around." Rai barely has time to nod as Jasper walks past her and side by side with Garnet.
"She's cute," Garnet lowly says as they reach the mouth of the alley.
"Yeah." Jasper doesn't glance back at Rai as she bumps her shoulder with Garnet's. "Please tell me we aren't going dancing."
Garnet lowly chuckles. "Yeah, we are, but not 'til later. It's a Mexican club, so everyone wants to change."
Jasper raises a brow. "Everyone as in you too?"
Garnet shoots Jasper a look. "Mmm, though I have no idea what to wear."
Jasper smiles Garnet. "I do."
Their conversation is cut short as the rest of the group emerges from the diner, in their own conversation.
..
When the group reached Garnet's house, they all stopped just outside of it.
"Two hours?" Bismuth directs towards Garnet.
Garnet smiles. "Two hours." Garnet glances at Jasper and frowns slightly. "We'll meet you at the club."
Bismuth nods and she, Amethyst and Pearl continue on. Garnet sighs and unlocks her door, she and Jasper stepping through before shutting and locking it behind them.
"Come on." Jasper grabs Garnet's hand and leads her upstairs. "Your dresses still in the same place?" Jasper glances back at Garnet.
"Moved them. They're in the hallway closet."
Jasper smacked her teeth. "You never did like dresses."
Garnet rolls her eyes. "Neither did you. I can't move as fast as I want in them."
Jasper shakes her head but releases Garnet's hand as she stops in front of the hallway closet. Opening it, Jasper flicks through the dresses until she settles on one she likes: it's red opened back dress that flares out and stops at the knees, Jasper's personal favorite.
Garnet raises a brow and looks between Jasper and the dress. "Really?"
"I'm half Mexican Garnet." Jasper reminds her.
"Mmm, and what about you?"
Jasper smiles brilliantly. "Same thing I wore last time."
…
The two quickly get dressed before they meet up with the others at the club.
"Damn Garn.," Bismuth exclaims.
Garnet blushes, Bismuth always had that effect on her. "Thanks Bis. Y'all look nice too."
"A round of drinks and then, let's go dancing!" Bismuth smiles excitedly.
Jasper and Garnet sit down at the table with the others, taking their time to drink.
"Nice outfit Jasper," Amethyst compliments.
"Thanks Ame. You look nice too." Jasper smiles.
Amethyst laughs. "We better, especially since we're both Mexican." Jasper joins in with her own laughter, the mood relaxing slightly.
Looking over the club, Jasper notices a familiar face, Rai's, and their eyes meet briefly. She's been everywhere lately.
"We ready to go dancing?" Bismuth questions after their pitcher is empty. There's a chorus of agreement before the group gets up and heads into the dance floor.
Bismuth asks Garnet to dance, to which the latter accepted, with a side glance at Jasper. Amethyst and Pearl were already dancing. Jasper frowns, she's going to need another drink.
Separating from the group, Jasper makes her way to the bar. "Vodka please."
There's a presence next to Jasper, but she pays it no mind until her shot arrives.
"I'll have what she's having," Rai's voice rings out.
Jasper downs her shot before turning to look at Rai. Rai smiles at Jasper but says nothing until her own shot has arrived.
"We keep running into each other." Rai knocks back her shot.
"Small city," Jasper offers offhandedly.
Rai smiles again, her smile lighting up her face and eyes. "Want to dance?"
Jasper looks out across the dancefloor and spots Garnet and Bismuth swaying with their bodies close together. "Yeah." Jasper offers her hand to Rai, who gladly takes it and leads them onto the dancefloor.
By the time the two reach the dancefloor, a new song is playing.
"Oh, I love this song!" Rai gushes, her small frame moving to the beat of the music.
Jasper smiles at her before joining in, the music melting the stress in her bones away.
Rai presses her body up against Jasper's, who wraps a hand around her waist, pulling her closer. Rai smiles up at Jasper before grinding her hips against Jasper's.
Jasper smiles down at Rai, but she can feel a set of eyes intently on her. Jasper risks a glance at Garnet, who was watching her until Bismuth spun her.
Jasper looks back down at Rai, a brief flash of sorrow in her eyes before it's gone.
"You still like her." Rai softly states more than asks.
"Yeah, I do."
"Then why are y'all not back together?"
Jasper looked away from Rai's eyes. "Her choice, not mine."
Rai glances over at Garnet, who is staring at them. "Seems to me like she's regretting the choice." Rai frowns as a thought crosses her mind.
"Hey." Jasper waits until Rai's eyes lock back with hers. "I'm sorry."
Rai smiles slightly and shakes her head. "The fault is mine. As much as I would love to make you mine," Rai licks her lips. "I can tell your heart belongs to another."
Jasper frowns at the statement. Is it that obvious? "It's complicated."
"Aren't most things." Rai smiles before frowning as she notices both Bismuth and Garnet look over at them. "I think you should keep fighting for her. Y'all seemed perfect for each other."
Jasper half frowns, half smiles at Rai. "Thank you."
"No problem." Rai glances over a Garnet and Bismuth before turning back to Jasper. "I think I'll help you out and distract your colorful friend over there from her."
Jasper growls. "Yeah, she ain't my friend."
Rai's face fills with surprise before a mischievous smirk stretches across it. "Well in that case."
Rai's sentence is interrupted as Garnet and Bismuth approach the two. "Can I steal Jasper away from you?"
Rai smiles at Garnet. "As long as I get to steal your colorful friend right there."
Bismuth laughs. "Sure thing doll." Bismuth offers her hand to which Rai smiles at.
Rai turns back to Jasper, standing on her tiptoes and placing her hands on Jasper's shoulders, whispers into her ear. "Tell her how you truly feel." Rai places a kiss on Jasper's cheek before grabbing Bismuth's hand and allowing her to lead her further into the dance floor, away from Jasper and Garnet.
Garnet raises an eyebrow the moment Jasper looks at her. "What was that about?"
"Nothing, we were just talking." Jasper glances over at Rai dancing with Bismuth. If I wasn't in love . Jasper's thoughts were interrupted as she feels Garnet step closer, placing Jasper's hands on her hips as she wraps hers around Jasper's neck.
"We haven't danced like this in years."
Jasper snaps her gaze to Garnet's and frowns. They haven't, then again, they only came dancing a few times when they were dating. "Yeah, feels nice."
Garnet smiles at Jasper but glances over at Rai and Bismuth. "She's very cute. Y'all would make a very cute couple."
Jasper shakes her head. "She says the same about me and you."
Garnet snaps her gaze back up to Jasper's. "What are we doing?"
"We're dancing." Jasper pulls Garnet flush against her.
"Obviously. I mean this cat and mouse game between us."
"I'm not trying to play this game. You're the one that wants to keep playing. I've told you what I want."
Garnet drops her head against Jasper's shoulder, her arms coming to wrap around Jasper's torso. "I'm scared."
Jasper freezes, their bodies pressed still together. "I won't hurt you Garnet, not again." Jasper squeezes Garnet tighter against her.
Garnet shivers at Jasper's words. "I'm still scared."
Jasper frowns and pulls back to tip Garnet's face up to hers, their eyes locking. "Do you love me?"
"You know I do."
"Are you in love with me?"
"Yes."
"Do you trust me?"
At the question, Garnet hesitates, her eyes darting away from Jasper's. "I want to."
Jasper frowns. "What do you need from me, to make that happen?"
Garnet squeezes Jasper's sides. "This."
Jasper nods and envelops Garnet in her arms. She places a kiss on top of Garnet's head, causing the latter to let out a sigh.
They stay like that until the song ends.
"Let's go home. We can finish this conversation there." Jasper doesn't release Garnet until she feels the latter nod against her shoulder, then she releases her to grab hold of her hand.
They quickly say bye to Pearl and Amethyst, who were in a full fledged makeout session, then Bismuth and Rai who were doing the same.
"Seems like they hit it off." Jasper laughs.
"Mmm, I hope they have fun," Garnet joins as the two exited the club.
Jasper smiles mischievously. "I mean, if you wanted to have fun too, all you had to do was ask."
Before Garnet can reply, Jasper has her pressed up against the wall of the club, her own lips being devoured by Jasper's.
Jasper swallows Garnet's moans as she presses her body closer to Garnet's. Garnet's hands push at Jasper's shoulders and Jasper's sucks on Garnet's bottom lip before pulling away.
"Audience," Garnet says breathlessly.
Jasper turns around to see a small crowd, filled with both men and women, watching them. Jasper growls at them and majority of them turn away.
Garnet laughs and grabs Jasper's hand. "Let's go home." Garnet pulls Jasper away from the club and the crowd and towards herself and her home.
