A/N Hi! A few things:
1. Kouyou sees herself as an unofficial grandma to Dazai and Chuuya's kids (her relationship with the kids is more like an involved Aunty than a traditional grandma - see's them often but sooo happy not to have to deal with ill etc kids) other members of the Port Mafia and ADA basically end up as unofficial aunties and uncles too
2. I'm not really sure how Golden Demon is supposed to be - in my mind it can either be ghost like, but most of the time has a more solid form, in this Golden Demon also seems to have the personality of a little old lady whose seen and done everything and helps Kouyou where needed
3. Cwtch/Cwtched/Cwtching - It's a Welsh word, here it's meaning a cuddle or hug (but like nicer, cosier and more personal thana hug if that makes any sense?) The word can also mean a small cupboard/cubbyhole
Kouyou hadn't planned on going to visit Dazai and Chuuya tonight, but here she was parking in their drive. She knew they had to be tired after Dazai's long labour and the excitement of bringing their little one's home, but when Mori had cancelled all her meetings for the evening, she'd had little choice. She couldn't argue with his logic – they were the only two who knew about Dazai and Chuuya's babies, who else would they be able to share their happiness with? And of the two of them, she was probably more welcome than Mori.
She had her own key to their house, so she quietly let herself in, Golden Demon would protect her if either of them tried to attack the "intruder." She slipped her shoes off, and followed the quiet murmuring of Dazai and Chuuya's voices to the living room. She paused in the open doorway, neither of them had noticed her. They were sat on the settee, Dazai was feeding both babies with Chuuya's help, they looked exhausted but were glowing with happiness. Both of them were looking at their babies like they were the only thing in the world, she had never seen either of them look so…content. She pulled her phone out and snapped a few pictures, she almost didn't want to disturb their happy little bubble. Without looking up from his babies Dazai spoke
"Are you going to stay in the doorway all night Ane-san?"
"Oh! Ahem, sorry." She made her way into the room, not bothering to ask how Dazai knew she was there, taking the chair next to the settee. "My apologies for dropping in unexpectedly but I wanted to meet your little ones, and see how you were doing."
"We're fine, they should be done feeding soon if you want to hold them?" Dazai asked, attention still on the babies. "We'll make a pillow surround for you so you can feel safe," Dazai added
"I'd like that," she paused taking in the empty glasses next to both of them. "Can I get you two a drink or something to eat?" she asked, standing up to make her way to the kitchen,
"No, no it's fine, Eulalia and Fabian should be done soon," Dazai replied.
"I'll go and grab myself a drink then"
She filled and set the kettle to boil, grabbing three mugs, and setting up tea for each of them. She knew they had a teapot but didn't want to give them unnecessary dishes to do. She rifled through their fridge and made a chicken sandwich for both of them. She knew feeding the babies had to take a lot of out Dazai.
"You don't need to do that," Chuuya's voice from the doorway startled her,
"It's fine Chuuya, go back to your husband"
"Oh, Dazai's fine, they fell asleep feeding so they're cwtched into him now" Chuuya smiled, walking over to help Ane-san, but found himself pulled into a cwtch.
"Congratulations, who'd have thought my little boys would be parents already," she smiled, "You're both doing so well." She pulled away and took in the sight of Chuuya's forearms, still red and bruised, "What on earth happened to your arms Chuuya?"
"Dazai," he grumbled, "the painkiller drugs they give them for labour didn't work on him, so he took it out on my poor arms. I don't know where he gets the strength from. He would've broken my wrists when his water broke if I didn't have an ability." He inspected his arms, "I think one of them might scar, so I guess I'll always have something to remember this day by," he laughed, then yawned.
Kouyou smiled, she guessed her lessons on being proud of scars or seeing them as an opportunity to learn rather than something to be disheartened by had worked well on Chuuya,
"Come on, the drinks are done, lets get you two fed and off to bed, I won't stay too long"
When they returned to the living room Dazai was dozing, Chuuya nudged him awake,
"Ane-san made you a sandwich, hand them over and eat."
"I'm not hungry, Chibi can have it," Dazai murmured.
"Dazai, you threw up everything you ate before you went into labour, ate nothing for the twenty-six hours you were in labour and had one sandwich after it. How the hell are you going to feed the babies you worked so hard to grow if you don't feed yourself."
"Fine" Dazai sighed, "Sit and I'll hand them over"
Chuuya plonked next to Dazai and sat still whilst Dazai placed the babies in his arms. He took the sandwich from Kouyou and devoured it and Chuuya's sandwich (At that point Ane-san went and made another sandwich for Chuuya)
"That was the best sandwich ever, thank you" Dazai smiled, as Kouyou returned to the living room,
"Sorry Chibi" Dazai added
Chuuya laughed, "I'm just happy you ate something Dazai"
"Do you want to hold them now Ane-san?" Dazai asked,
"Oh, they're sleeping so peacefully, I don't want to disturb them"
"This is the best time!" Chuuya replied, "no little wiggling bodies trying to escape"
"Okay then" she started to get up unsure of where she needed to be. Dazai was behind her grabbing some extra pillows from the other settee.
"Have you washed your hands?" Chuuya asked
"Yes, I did it before I came back out. I don't think I have germs, but I'd hate to make your little ones ill"
Dazai motioned for her to sit next to Chuuya on the settee, placing a pillow either side of her and one on her lap.
"As you've never held a baby before I'll give you one and then see if you feel brave enough to hold both of them?"
"Whatever you think is best," she smiled
"Do you mind summoning Golden Demon as well?" Dazai asked
"Why?
"I… I want them to get used to abilities and as it doesn't take as much energy for you, I thought it would help?" Dazai sounded unsure of his own request
"That's fine" Ane-san smiled and Golden Demon appeared behind her
It didn't take long for both babies to be in Kouyou's arms, Golden Demon helping to make sure they were secure.
She couldn't believe how tiny they were, she never thought she'd hold something so new. The babies were barely sixteen hours old, so fragile and Dazai trusted her enough to let her hold them. She smiled to herself, she didn't think she'd like holding their babies this much. It was all a bit strange.
"They're a perfect mix of both of you. I know I'm biased but they're the most beautiful babies I've ever seen."
Then the babies started crying, and Kouyou froze. Dazai and Chuuya swooped in taking a baby each, Dazai telling Chuuya what do as they cwtched and fussed them until they shushed.
"What did I do wrong?"
"Nothing, I think they just missed us" Dazai reassured her.
"Actually, I think they need new nappies," Chuuya made a face as the smell hit him.
"Hmm you may be right Chibi" Dazai replied, yawning. Moving to place the baby he was holding onto the table. He nearly had the onesie undone when Chuuya stopped him
"The changing stuff's all upstairs Dazai."
"Oh yeah" Dazai voice was quiet, he looked on the verge of crying
"Come here," Chuuya pulled him and the babies in for an awkward cwtch, "you're overtired and the todays been overwhelming, of course you're gonna make silly mistakes. Our babies aren't even a day old yet and look at how much we've done today"
"You two go up to bed, I'll see myself out"
"Thank you for coming to visit us" Chuuya smiled
"Yeah, it was nice to introduce them to someone," Dazai smiled.
They paused at the bottom of the stairs, as Ane-san put her shoes on. She pulled them in for a cwtch, smiling.
"I am so, so proud of the both of you. Even if you feel overwhelmed or tired now, remember that it will be fleeting and they'll love you no matter what you do. Well, until they're teenagers and given what you two have been like, good luck" she laughed
"Surely we weren't that bad…" Chuuya trailed off.
"You'll be fine, you're going to be such good parents. Just remember I'm always here if you need to talk or a helping hand. I can't wait to see what lovely little children these two are going to grow into."
"Thank you. That…that means a lot to us Ane-san" Dazai had happy tears in his eyes, the emotions of the day finally finding a release.
"Please come and visit us whenever you want" Chuuya told her, Dazai nodding in agreeance.
"You won't be able to keep me away, they're too cute not to." She smiled, as they took the babies upstairs to change and put to bed, she let herself out and locked the door behind her.
It had been a strange visit, her little boys were all grown up. Dazai and Chuuya with babies was something she had never expected to see, nor had she ever seen them so happy.
She may not want kids of her own but she was looking forward to spoiling Eulalia, Fabian and any other kids Dazai and Chuuya had.
End Note
So the next fic is going to be part 10! of this little series, and as I've never written anything this long or interconnected before I wanted to make fic number 10 a celebration - We're going to see the first birthdays of each set of children and Dazai and Chuuya going out to celebrate their 30th (as that idea has been in my head since the very first fic) as well as an extra chapter which will basically be a set of deleted scenes (not connected as such, but scenes/idea's I like or want to write but they aren't enough to fill their own chapter or fit with anything else)
This celebration fic will be posted next Monday (18th) evening (UK time) as that will be five months since part 1 was posted (in theory I really want it to be the whole thing, in reality who knows?)
