Chapter 9
"Got some backbone, after all don't you?"
Webby was out of breath by the time she got done man handling the beast. It had turned out to be a huge snake, and it seemed to have been gaurding the portal to Soran's portal.
She should have known.
That Soran would have had something like this up her sleeve. How is it she is always one step ahead of her?
As it fell to the ground with a loud thud Webby landed on her feet beside Magica.
"Done." She growled.
"Not yet." Magica told her. Webby looked at her and watched as the smoke cleared she saw a small out line of a child.
"L,Luca?" Webby asked, surprised. Magica frowned.
Luca rushed up to her with an urgent look on his face.
"Luca, how? How'd -?" She asked.
"I'm part of the supernatural," He explained. "A clone. This is where I ended up." He looked towards Magica who smirked at him. His eyes widen. "Is that -?"
'Never mind her," Webby interupted, "why are you here?"
"I, I came to warn you." Luca told her. "I, I just got done with helping Hope out the best I could while in this state, but she'll need you the most once all this is over with." He told her.
"After what's over with?" Webby asked.
"It's F.O.W.L. I, I wanted to warn Hope about them before I, well," He paused and looked down at himself.
Webby stared at him. Luca might be dead but he hadn't lost his will power to help her daughter, it made her feel even more greatful that he and Hope had became friends. It helped that he looked and acted so much like Louie rather then having any other trait from his mother other then the vampire parts.
If Luca had lived. Webby would have been fine with that part. If it meant Hope would have finally had someone to fall back on other then her family.
"What about F.O.W.L?" She asked.
Luca explained to her how they were recuiting the supernaturals, to take down her family and take over the world. When he was done Webby looked sharply over at Magica.
"You knew about this didn't you?" She accused.
"I might have heard about it." Magica told her. "Wouldn't surprise me that F.O.W.L would be recuiting us supernaturals. Can't handle the job themselves, those -."
"Luca, thanks for telling me." Webby interupted, still glaring at Magica. "And for looking after my daughter. Now, if that's all I'd like to go save my husband and kids, again." She snarled.
"Wait!" Luca said as Webby took one foot in the portal. She looked back at him. "Please," He begged. "I, I know it's asking a lot, and I'll understand if you say no, but," He paused trying to find the right words to finish what he was about to ask. "S, She already had the baby."
Webby stared at him.
"Vampire birth comes more quickly then any other average birth." Luca told her. "About twenty-four hours after -." He stopped, then started again, "I, I know you are going to kill Mom. Just, please, do me a favor and look after my, my," He couldn't finished the sentence.
Webby smiled warmly at him and took her foot out of the portal and walked over to him. She bent down eye level to him. Luca's eyes widen when he felt a jolt of energy run through him. Hope looked so much like her.
"Sure thing, kid." Webby promised. "Because you looked after and befriended my daughter, I will raise the child as my own. For you, and Louie." She added.
She meant it. Rather she'd be able to raise the child without resentment or judgement, she'll figure that out along with way and deal with it.
Luca beamed at her.
"It will be a part of Louie after all," Webby added as she put her foot back in the portal, "just like you were."
"T,thank you." He said as he faded away.
"Hmmph." Magica scoffed. "A mortal raising a supernatural? That's a new one, not to mention it'll be the offspring of your sworn enemy."
Webby paused as she looked back at Magica.
"Knowing that, why put yourself through all that?" She asked.
"Like Lena told you before she banished you here," Webby replied to her cooly, "Because of love." Magica gave her a blank stare. "Which is something you will never understand."
With that Webby left Magica De Spell to ponder that last statement on her own.
"Do you have any idea where we're going?" Louie asked in a whisper as they walked down the hall quietly as they could.
Oddly enough there were no robots scurrying around. All was quiet.
Too quiet.
Like the calm before the storm. Louie thought and shuddered.
"Not really. I only been up here briefly and didn't have time too -." She stopped short at one door and stared at it.
"What?" Louie asked stopping short and was almost knocked down.
"N, Nothing. Come on." Hope said, she grabbed her Dad's hand and walked quietly down the hallway. They reached the top of the stairs and was about to step down when a noise from the far end of the made Louie freeze. Hope froze too and looked at her Dad's pale face.
"D, Dad?" She stammered.
"Go. Go to the plane. Now. I, I'll be along in a minute." He told her.
"No. Dad, I have to -." Hope began.
"NOW Hope." Her Dad snapped.
Hope blinked, but didn't move not until someone called out to her. She turned and saw her Uncle Dewey racing towards her. His eyes blood shot and he was bleeding.
"Dewey!" Louie rushed to him before he collapsed to the floor.
"S, She tried to, to -." Dewey choked out.
Louie stared at his brother's wounds, and noticed a bite mark on his neck. His eyes glazed over as he looked towards the room he heard the noise from.
No.
Not his brother.
"Hope, help Dewey to the plane." He growled, as Hope slowly came up beside him. She looked at him in alarm. Louie sighed and knelt down eye level to her. "I promise, I'll be right behind you." He kissed her on the top of her head, and turned to go but Hope grabbed his arm.
"Hope." He said, not looking at her, "she's not going to hurt me." He assured her.
Trying hard to convince himself more then her.
"She's done had her fill of that already, today." He told her. He jerked his arm away and started slowly towards the room. Hope watched him go with her heart pounding hard in his chest. She wanted to believe him, wanted to run after him and make sure he'd be safe.
But that noise, that noise was the reason for her Dad's sudden change in direction.
Dewey's groaning snapped Hope out of her trance. She was strong for her age, another thing she inherited from her mother. She slowly picked Dewey up and had him lean up against her and she slowly dragged him towards the plane.
Louie made his way slowly towards the door where he heard that noise come from. He stared at it before lifting a shaky hand and slowly turned the doorknob. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and opened it.
He opened his eyes as the light poured in from the nearby window. It was daybreak and Soran stood in front of it, looking out at the brilliant skyline.
"Of Course," Louie thought bitterly as he slowly entered the room. "Of course she wouldn't explode into ashes when the sun hit her." Louie started to tremble as he got closer to her. "No. That would make it way to easy..."
Soran turned around slowly and smiled at him.
Louie froze when he saw what she was holding.
"Hello, Darling." She cooed at him. Not seeming to mind that Louie had escaped his room. "Come say hello to our daughter." She told him.
Louie didn't move. The baby started to cry.
"Aww. Did Daddy make my little Lacy cry?" She asked. She blew a raspberry at her which made the baby stop and start to giggle.
"L, Lacy?" Louie asked, once he found his voice.
"Has a nice ring to it don't you think?" Soran asked him. "She's already a lot better then -."
"Don't." Louie snarled at her. Soran raised an eyebrow at him. "Don't you dare say his name." He added. "You got no right."
Soran scoffed.
"I take it you noticed the bite marks." She said, after a short pause.
Louie glared at her.
"Our little Lacy has already taken a liking to human blood. Won't be long until she takes over for me, and become more powerful then I am." She added, cooingly at Lacy who gurgled happily up at her.
"That's not gonna happen." Louie said. Soran looked back up at him. "I'm going to raise her myself, and make sure she never turns out like you."
Soran laughed.
"You? Raise Lacy? I don't think your wife would like that very much, now would she?" Soran asked.
"Think again, Soran."
Louie blinked as a burst of light erupted between them and Webby appeared.
"Ah. The woman of the hour is here, at last." Soran replied cooly.
Webby stared at her, then at the little bundle in her arms. Louie stared at the back of Webby's head, his eyes filled with tears.
She was okay.
That meant they were going to be okay.
He knew what he had to do now. He looked around and spotted Soran's knife she had laid on the dresser. He slowly backed up to it and quickly snatched it while Webby and Soran glared daggers at each other. He slowly walked back up to stand beside Webby.
"I see you've met my little pet in the Shadow Realm." Soran remarked, eyeing Webby's scratches and bruises.
"I was already planning on helping to raise the kid." Webby said, ignoring her last remark.
"That's ironic." Soran strifled a laugh. "My sworn enemy raising my daughter? What brought this on all of a sudden?"
"Luca." Webby answered.
Louie froze.
"L,Luca?" He asked. Webby glanced over at him. "Y, You talked with Luca?"
"In the Shadow Realm. He asked us to raise his sibiling." She explained.
"H, How's he doing?" Louie asked, completely forgetting about Soran for a second.
"He's," Webby heistated for the right word, then smiled at him and took his hand, "at peace." She said finally.
Louie smiled back at her then looked at Soran with determination in his eyes. He let go of her hand and slowly walked up to Soran.
"He had no right to ask such a thing." Soran snarled.
Soran narrowed her eyes at him as the baby started crying again.
"She's my daughter. I won't let you have her!" She screeched.
Louie made a quickly slash motion at her. Soran doged it but by doing so nearly dropping the baby. Louie cought her before she hit the ground.
Louie stared down at his daughter, she actually glared up at him and smirked making her resemble Soran in such a way that his blood ran cold. How was he able to care for this kid knowing she would look and possibly act so much like Soran?
"Webby, take Lacy." Louie told Webby as she came up beside him, ready to take on Soran. She blinked and looked over at him. He looked back at her and nodded encouragingly. She slowly opened her arms as Soran struggled to get up, Webby ignored her glares and looked down at the baby.
All at once the baby stopped crying and looked up at her, not in a malice way, but in the sweetest way possible, and Webby's heart melted. She looked back up at Louie.
"You knew how'd this play out this whole time, didn't you?" She asked him.
Louie nodded and smiled at her.
"Yeah, it's kinda my thing remember?" He asked her.
He then pulled her in for a kiss that lasted for just a minute before he pulled away and pushed her gently towards the door.
"Now, go. This won't take long." He said, looking back at Soran.
Webby nodded and quickly rushed out of the room with the now cooing Lacy in her arms.
"Got some backbone, after all don't you?" Soran snarled. Louie crouched down, ready with the knife held out at arms length.
"And I'm about to show you how much of it I do have." Louie snarled back. Gripping the handle of the knife more tightly.
"Darling, " She began and flicked her wrist making a green fire ball, "if you want more of me, all you have to do is ask." She retorted and came at him with fire in her dead, cold yellow eyes.
