It's been a week since Harry had been turned into a vampire. He was seeing Professor Snape in secret so he could help the boy control himself.
Meanwhile, Ron was heading down to Hagrid's hut with Hermione. The two of them knocked on the door.
"Comin'," A rough and husk voice called from inside.
The half giant opened the door, letting the two of them inside the hut. Hagrid shut the door and turned to face the two young wizards who were sitting at the small table.
"Wha' brings ye two here?" Hagrid asked, "An' where's 'Arry?"
"He's been with Professer Snape," Hermione explained, "We came here to visit for a bit. We need some time away from the castle."
Hagrid nodded, looking at the two.
"Now, you lot better not get into any trouble," Hagrid warned, "There been a werewolf sighting in that forest."
They both nodded. After a delightful evening with Hagrid the two friends decided to head back up to the castle. It was quite dark out, so the two couldn't see well.
"Lumos," Hermione casted the spell and a light emerged from the tip of her wand.
"Bloody hell, we can see," Ron remarked, making Hermione laugh.
A sudden shrill howl rang through the air as the full moon peaked out from behind the clouds.
"C'mon Ron," Hermione nagged, "We got to get out of here!"
Hermione grabbed Ron's hand and they ran towards the castle. The werewolf had taken account of this and ran after them. Hermione and Ron ran as fast as they could, going up the steep hill.
The werewolf ran up quickly and attempted to pounce as Ron had tripped. Hermione pulled Ron towards the top of the hill.
"Blimey," Ron muttered under his breath.
Hermione drew out her wand and so did Ron after he scrambled to his feet.
"Immobulis!" Ron shouted and the jet of red light had hit the werewolf, but it wasn't powerful enough to stop it.
Ron swore under his breath and screamed out as he felt a tearing pain in his shoulder. He fell to the ground, holding his shoulder in pain after dropping his wand. Hermione grabbed the nearest object she could get her hands on and threw it at the werewolf. The werewolf had whimpered and ran off.
Hermione helped Ron to his feet, grabbing his wand off the ground. She helped Ron to the Hospital Wing. As they went inside, Madam Pomfrey looked shocked to see two well behaved students out of bed.
"Dear heavens, what happened!?" She asked shocked, helping Hermione put Ron into a hospital bed.
"Well, we were heading back to the castle when a werewolf attacked us," Hermione explained.
"I'm afraid I'll have to tell Dumbledore," She spoke warily, helping Ron to take his shirt off to see the fresh wound on his shoulder.
There were deep scratches across Ron's shoulder. Blood dripped down his shoulder from the wound. Madam Pomfrey took out her wand and spoke the incantation Vulnera Sanentur three times before the wound on Ron's shoulder began to heal. The wound seemed to be knitting itself back together as well. She grabbed a small bottle of dittany and placed a few drops over the wound to stop any scarring from occuring.
Hermione and Ron were allowed to leave, and they head back to the Griffindor common room. Both of them went to their seperate dormitories and went to bed.
The next morning Ron got up to Harry watching him with a bitter look on his face. This made Ron confused. Even Harry was confused why he was looking at Ron with a distasteful look. Ron confusedly glared back. Both boys went into the common room, glaring at each other from across the room.
Hermione walked into the room and told both boys to stop, bringing them outside.
"Both of you need to stop," Hermione warned, "Or people are going to notice."
"We're confused to this," Ron implied, and Harry agreed.
"Werewolves and vampires are naturally born enemies," Hermione explained, "That's why you two are acting like this. You know they won't allow this."
"I realized that," Harry implied, sighing softly.
"So what?" Ron muttered.
"What was that!?"
"Whoa, calm down!"
"What you say to me!"
"Nothing. I said I agree."
Hermione sighed, pulling both boys down to the Forbidden Forest.
"Both of you are going to learn to control yourselves," Hermione implied, "Snape has beem teaching you stuff Harry! Weren't you listening to him?!"
"Yes Hermione, I was," Harry spoke with a burst of sudden anger.
"Harry, calm down," Ron warned, "Control yourself!"
Harry let out a small hiss towards Ron. Ron let out a low growl in return. Hermione stood in between the two boys who were now glaring at eachother.
"Enough, both of you!" Hermione shouted, looking between Harry and Ron.
Harry and Ron both sighed. Hermione was right again. They can't be fighting or the other students would get suspicious. Both of them were taught by Hermione to get through their arguments and species rivalry. It had taken them awhile for Harry and Ron to get along properly again, but they did it.
The night of the full moon was coming tonight. Ron couldn't eat food normally like the other students had today. Harry and Hermione helped him of course. Ron was sitting in the dormitory when his owl Pigwidgeon had flew into the window. He perched atop the bed post. Ron retrieved the letter from the owl's beak, opening it up slowly. His eyes widened when he saw who it was from.
Dear Ron,
This does seem like quite a shock as I am writing to you. I was informed by your headmaster that you were attacked by a werewolf.
I am very sorry to hear that. Meet me in the Forbidden Forest at dusk and make sure to take a wolfsbane potion from Severus before coming.
Not to worry, I have taken a wolfsbane potion myself before I wrote this letter to send off to you.
I will see you soon Ron. I hope this will enlighten your experience for you.
Sincerely,
Remus Lupin
Ron placed the letter under his pillow, heading to Professor Snape's office. As he went inside the Potions class he could hear a loud hissing noise coming from Snape's office. He then heard something. He decided to sit in a desk near the office door.
"Control yourself Potter," Snape demanded of him, "I am here to teach you to control your temptation for attacking at the sight of blood. It has come to my attention you are failing."
Harry felt his fangs poke from his gums, but he knew he had to control the urge. He grabbed his own wrist and gripped it hard, feeling his fangs retract as the pain in his wrist was more bearable than what he was feeling at the moment.
"Better, Potter," Snape implied, before sending Harry out of the room.
"Oh, Ron, what are you doing here?" Harry asked, looking at his best friend with a curious look, his eyes turning back to their blue colour.
Professor Snape came out of the office and took note of why Ron was in his classroom, heading to the back of the room to retrieve the wolfsbane potion for Ron.
He swiftly turned around and put the potion beside Ron, before going back into his office, locking the door.
Ron drank the potion and a terrible look crossed his face.
"Ah that's bloody disgusting," Ron complained.
"At least you won't be killing anyone," Harry remarked, helping Ron out of the castle.
"Thank you Harry," Ron added.
"No problem," Harry implied, "I better get back before the sun sets."
Ron nodded and headed down into the Forbidden Forest to find Lupin sitting on a log near the lake. He sat beside Lupin, and remained in an awkward silence.
"Hello there Ron," Lupin greeted, "I see you've gotten my letter."
Ron had nodded.
"It was only after I went to come here," Ron implied.
"Did you take the wolfsbane potion like I asked you too?"
"Yes, I did Professor."
"Call me Remus. It's better that way."
Ron nodded. He knew Remus didn't like being a werewolf, but he found it pretty interesting. He liked being able to have heightened senses and strength and other things a regular human couldn't possibly have.
He then realized the thing he was most dreading. The transformation. Hermione told him the first shift was excurciatingly painful. He knew Remus wasn't all that ready either. As the full moon beamed down on both of them, the transformation had started. For Remus, the transformation came easy for him as he's transformed many times before. But for Ron, it was horribly dreadful.
Ron fell on all fours from the pain he felt spread through his body. It felt like fire was burning him from inside. He felt his bones shift as his legs and arms grew taller, his face elongating into a snout, ginger fur growing all over his body. He let out horrible cries of pain as this happened. The cries were so bad that Hermione and Harry could hear them. Hermione couldn't sleep that night either as she was worried about Ron.
Ron's white fur stood out compared to Remus's greyish fur tone. Remus looked at Ron and bowed with respect as Ron was an Alpha compared to him. Ron gave a grin and he ran off into the woods with Remus.
