A/N: Here with chapter four, two or three chapters to go after this. As usual I do not own Tracy Beaker Returns or the Dumping Ground belongs to CBBC, just my plot.
Chapter Four: The Truth (Tooth) Will Out
Tracy's POV
"HARRY!" The three of us hear a shout and see as Harry darts quickly into the kitchen and ducks under the table.
"Harry, what's the matter darling?" Gina crouches under the table as I see the source.
Elektra comes running in looking ready to murder and I grab her letting go once she stops and I've blocked her path. "Elektra, what's going on?" I notice something in her hair, something sticky.
"Harry got paint in my hair!"
"I don't want to paint anymore, I don't feel good, it hurts…" Harry said quietly.
"So you throw the brush at my hair?"
"It compliments the blue," I say, noticing the purple streak of washable paint. "It'll come out, you'll be fine."
"What hurts Harry?" Mike asks as he looks over at us putting up a hand before turning back to Harry. "Can you come out and show us?"
Harry nods and crawls out from under the table. I notice he's holding the side of his mouth. "It's moving…" He says softly and then he opens his mouth moving his tooth with his tongue.
Mike takes a look. "Looks to me like you've got a loose tooth there Harry…" He cups Harry's chin in his hand and tilts it up. "Really loose."
"Can you get it out?" Harry asks, again softly.
"Yeah, then we'll put it under your pillow tonight." Mike said. "Just gotta wash up first."
"Come on Harry, we'll wait for Mike in the other room." I go with Harry and Elektra back to the other room where Gus is as well practicing.
"Is that why you didn't eat the apple I cut up?" Elektra asks Harry.
He nods.
Elektra heads to the bathroom to wash.
Gus finishes his practice and then looks over to us. "What's wrong with Harry?"
"I got a loose tooth." Harry announces. He then opens his mouth and wiggles it.
"When you have a loose tooth, you don't eat?" Gus asks.
"Well, sometimes, if it hurts." I reply.
Gus grabs one of his notebooks and makes a note, studying something. "Does Liam have a loose tooth?"
I blink. I guess we won't need an official plan to get some answers. "Well, when you're older, your teeth don't really get loose."
"Liam only ate two small bites for breakfast, and Tyler ate the rest of it before Liam could put it in the sink." Gus says. "If he doesn't have a loose tooth, why wouldn't he eat?"
"I'm not sure Gus," I frown. This was making a bit more sense now.
Liam's POV
As the game progresses, I've nearly forgotten why I came here in the first place. Maybe this would work. Tee passes me the ball, and as Frank comes back over I pass it to him tagging him in.
"What did Tracy want?" Tee asks Frank.
"Just snack preference." Frank replies, passing it to Tee.
I glance over. "That all?"
He nods.
"She couldn't just ask us here?" I ask.
"Tee, open!" Carmen calls as Tyler goes to guard her and she zags passing it to Carmen as Johnny struggles to intercept and they foot back and forth.
"Dunno," Frank says. He crouches down to guard position, making it an even three on three.
"Frank,"
"I said I don't know," He insists. "For some reason she was asking about snacks privately." He turns around and attempts to move away. I grab his wrist.
"Liam!"
"Come on , what'd she want? It was about me wasn't it?" I argue.
"Liam ball!"
I hear a whooshing sound, something smacks me and then I'm sprawled on the ground. I put a hand to my mouth and it comes away sticky. Ugh fantastic.
"Tyler!" Tee shouts, but it comes as if underwater.
"Not my fault he wasn't looking out! Ugh, wicked mess," I hear another voice but I can't make it out over the pounding in my head.
"Shut up Tyler! Go with Tee and Carmen, go get Mike, make yourself useful." Johnny says.
"Come on Tyler," I hear one of the girls, Carmen I think.
"Are you okay?" Frank crouches down.
"Oh, I'm excellent…" I snap trying to sit up as I blink hard trying to bring things back into focus.
"Here Frank," Johnny hands Frank his sweater.
Frank takes the sleeve and tries to dab my mouth.
"Shove off!" I push him away.
"It's bleeding."
"I'm aware yeah," My voice cracks as I take the sleeve myself.
"Liam…"
I look over to Johnny. "What?"
"Are you alright?"
"Right now, you're winding me up right?" I blink again, but a tear escapes anyway. I move my hand to wipe it away. Well, it had been worth a try.
A/N: So, Tracy didn't need a formal plan as some chaos in the house helped her see, and she's finally realizing just what could possibly be up. And the game took a turn for the worst as Liam was injured. Next chapter, the care workers attend to the chaos as Jack shows up and answers are revealed.
