The car ride home was bathed in heavy silence. The couple was lost in their thoughts. None of them had forgotten about their fight earlier. They remained silent as they made their way into the house, discarded their things, moved a few boxes around and finally settled down on the couch. They looked awkwardly at each other, daring the other to start talking.

"I…" They started at the same time.

"You go ahead." Sullivan told her.

"I…I'm sorry." She started. "I've been doing a lot of thinking since you left, you know after the fight." He nodded, silently telling her to go on. "I'm a mess, Robert. You made me dive into those boxes and it actually made things worse. It's just, I always thought my dad was that great man, you know? He was my hero." She smiled at that, as Robert covered her hands with his own.

"He was a hero, Andy."

"Yeah, maybe he was. But he was also my dad. Why can't no one see that?"

"Hey, hey, hey," He calmed her in a gentle voice. She was gripping his hand tightly and he could clearly hear in her voice that she was getting worked up again. "I know that. I mean, we have the man's stuff lying all over our house. And I can see how it breaks you not to have him, and it breaks me to not be able to help you."

"What? Robert…" Andy calmed down immediately at his words. She looked into his eyes and was hurt to see so much pain in those. "Talk to me."

"It's just…Andy, you're falling apart. I'm trying to break the fall, but I can't because you're pushing me away."

"I…"

"No, I get it." He interrupted her. "I know we all deal differently, but I can't watch you fall apart, honey. You have to let me in."

"I'm trying, Robert. I'm really trying. But it feels like I'm doing it all wrong. Earlier, right before…You know…Right before we got into that huge fight, I was trying to show you that everything was wrong. I was trying to show you the proofs that my dad has been lying to me my whole life! And you just asked me to step down. You actually told me to get a sedative and relax."

"I'm sorry about that."

"I'm sorry too." She said bending her head. "I shouldn't have compared myself to your drug addiction, that was low."

"It's ok." He started.

"Except it's not!" She almost yelled. "You have to stop doing that! I know it doesn't seem like it, but I see you and what you're doing for me, but you have to stop protecting me like that! It's suffocating."

"I'm sorry, that was never my intention. I just want to help you process the grief. As you said, we're all we have, and I don't want you to think that I would leave at the first rough patch we have to cross. I'm your husband, Andy, I want to act like it. I don't regret us rushing into this marriage."

"I don't regret it either, except I need a supportive husband, and you are. You've been perfect through this all, and I'm sorry if I made you feel like you were doing a terrible job. But I don't need a supportive husband who suffocates me. I'm sorry I compared you to my dad earlier, but he was my hero and I thought he was a perfect dad and a perfect husband, except I'm discovering that he's not and it was starting to get to me. Uncle Snuffy said something earlier that made me think about all of this, about how I reacted to you being overprotective. He said marriage is hard, and I'm discovering that too… But it also made me realize that no matter what everyone says, you are not my father. You are my husband, and I need you. It shook me when you left earlier. I can't do all of this without you, so please stop acting like a father figure or whatever. I don't need protection, I need a supportive husband who helps me work through this mess, a husband who listens and understands."

"I get it. I'm sorry. I didn't know you were feeling like that. I should've listened more, I'm so sorry."

"I'm sorry I hurt you." She replied.

"I'm sorry I couldn't figure out what you needed on my own, and I'm sorry I made you feel like your feelings weren't important. I didn't want to suffocate you, I just wanted to make your pain go away."

They sat there in silence, holding hands, processing all they had just talked about. After a few minutes, Andy got up and started moving some boxes around. Robert sat watching her as she found the one she was looking for.

"What are you doing?" he asked her, frowning a little as she dived into the box. She did not answer so he got up to stand next to her, trying to get a look of what was inside the box. A minute later, she stood up, holding what he supposed was a picture frame.

"This is some of my stuff." She explained, looking up at him. "I…Remember our wedding day?"

"Of course, I remember," he said with a soft smile.

"Remember after the ceremony? That…" She turned the frame so he could see what it was holding. "That's the picture we took after the ceremony. Our first one as a married couple."

Robert smiled softly as he took a hold of the frame. They were standing close together, his arm around her, holding her close to him, their smile bright and their eyes shining, full of love and happiness. On her other side was her father, an arm wrapped around her, smiling proudly at the camera. He smiled at the memory, a few tears creeping at the corner of his eyes. It was one of the best days of his life. He never thought he could be so happy again, not after Claire's death. Actually, he was not sure he could love someone as much as he had loved Claire, until he met Andy and realized that, in fact, he could fall even more in love.

"I love you." He said, locking his eyes on Andy's teary ones.

"I love you too." She said, taking a step towards him.

He smiled at her and sat the frame on the shelf. It was the first step to making this house theirs. She had been slowly moving in, but there was no proof of their love, heck they did not even had rings yet. But he thought that exposing their wedding picture was a very good start, well that and the fact that she always came home to him.

Once the picture was safely placed on the shelf, he turned back to face her. Since she was focusing on the frame, he brought a hand to her chin, gently forcing her to look at him. Their eyes locked, he read hers quickly, making sure that they were good, and when he saw her nodding lightly, he bent down and kissed her.

They quickly deepened the kiss, letting go of the frustration and anger of the day, giving into the love they felt for each other. In only a matter of seconds, Robert had her pinned against the boxes on the table. Andy tried to grab at the table, trying to balance herself, but she only managed to send some papers flying to the floor. Knowing what she was trying to do, Sullivan picked her up, and she instantly wrapped her legs around his waist.

Robert blindly navigated them to the stairs, stumbling against the chairs, which made her laugh. He stopped at the bottom of the stairs, and looked at her smiling face, wishing he could have her laugh like that every day. Her arms and legs still wrapped tightly around him, he somehow managed to climb up the stairs. They had some trouble making their way to the bedroom since he often had to pin her to the wall to keep them upright. Indeed, he was finding out that it was not an easy task to walk and make out, and when he did break the kisses, his wife did not help make things easier because she was peppering kisses all over his face and neck. So, when they finally made it to the bedroom, he gently laid her on the bed, covering her body with his own. It had been a while, between her dad's death and everything, so they took their time rediscovering each other's body.

Later in the night, they were cuddling each other, Andy half lying on his chest, their arms wrapped around each other. She had her head laying half on his chest, half on his shoulder, while he was nuzzling her hair, dropping a few kisses there every now and then. They were both sated, bathing in the love they felt for each other.

"Are we ok?" Andy asked quietly, her fingers drawing circles on his chest.

"Of course, we are." He answered, kissing her head.

"I really am sorry."

"It's ok, honey. We'll get through this together."

"Really?" she asked looking up at him, eyes full of doubt and hope.

"Yes." He brought a hand to her cheek, caressing it softly. "I'm never leaving you, Andy. We're married, which means we're stuck together forever."

"Ok," she smiled, pushing herself up to peck his lips before laying her head back down on his chest.

"I love you." He said.

"I love you too."

They remained silent a few more minutes, before Sullivan broke the silence.

"I…After Claire, I never thought I would love someone as much as I loved her. And when she died, it broke me. I was a mess, you know that." Andy nodded against his chest, not wanting to interrupt. She knew that he loved his late wife, she respected that, and it also reassured her to know that he was faithful. However, it still hurt a little to hear him talking about her, especially in those moments.

"I really thought that my love life was over. But then you came along," he continued, gently rubbing her arm. "You came along, and you turned my whole world upside down. You made me realize that I was still able to love, that it was ok to love someone else. But you didn't stop there. You didn't stop at just barging into my life and reintroducing me to love. You…" he took a deep breath. "You actually made me realize that I loved you more. And I do love you more, honey. I didn't think that it was possible, but I actually love you even more than I loved Claire. When she died I thought I could never find love again, but if I lost you…I would never survive losing you Andy. I've never felt that way for anyone before. What we have, it's something else. I can't explain it, but it's something rare and beautiful and I just…I just love you. More than anything, more than anyone ever before. And you're never getting rid of me." He kissed her lips softly to seal that promise. It was a kiss full of love and hope, and it melted Andy's heart. She broke the kiss and, noses touching, eyes staring deep into his soul, she said, "Good, because I'm never leaving you. You're all I have, you're my safest place." She declared. She sealed her promise with a kiss of her own before pulling back. They stared dreamily at each other, eyes shining bright, love pouring out of them.

Life could throw them as many difficulties as it wanted, they would always be good.
