Do you know when you move and have to adapt quickly? In my case I had to do this twice.
My name is Agnes, Agnes Howard, I am 15 years old and I am currently traveling to America. And am I happy? Absolutely not! Let me just find out who it was that gave my parents the idea to send me and my little sister to live with my uncle, but it's not that simple because it wouldn't be a short period of time like a visit, because apparently they sent me documents to start studying there. I'm irritated by this, unlike my sister Harriet she just turned seven and is very excited about it. I don't blame her for any of this, I just think it's unfair to do this to me ... after everything I've been through there. Saying goodbye to my friends was ... really unpleasant, I will not be able to do my favorite sport and now I will have to speak English as the main language. Harriet is fine with everything, she was lucky that English was the first language she learned, already for me ... I will miss everything ... TEN HOURS! I've been sitting on this plane for ten hours, it's torturous boredom. But until the view was cool, you can see the sun rising over clouds was really… beautiful, and obviously I took a hidden photo. Now there was so little left to get out of that can of sardines, because I gradually realized that the plane was coming down.
Agnes attention was on the warnings that were given by the audio, but a small movement caught my attention. Harriet was sleeping on my side hugging my arm, her hair was covering her face. Agnes raised her other arm and reached out and removed the messy bangs from her sister's face, revealing a beautiful little face peacefully sleeping with several freckles on her nose, With that Agnes smiled slightly. Turning to the small window, Agnes saw her reflection even though the rising sunlight was a little uncomfortable. As mesmas sardas cobriam seu rosto, and her red hair took on a fire-like glow with sunlight reflecting on her. Several things went through Agnes's mind, but it all came down to one thing … Soon the plane would arrive at the airport and, as agreed, their uncle should pick them up. It had been a long time since Agnes had met him and Harriet had never really known him a new experience for her, at least that's what Agnes expected. Finally the plane had landed, and Agnes hastily woke her sister, who rubbed her eyes and looked around until she realized what was happening and her gray green eyes were bright. Unbelievable, it didn't even seem like she had just woken up because she was really excited.
-We have arrived Aggie !!
-I see Harriet. -Come on then, I really want to go for a walk!
-Calm down one step at a time sis.
Harriet's animation was cute and funny, she jumped with excitement and pulled her older sister's hand, who purposely walked in slow motion forcing Harriet to push Agnes's legs. After picking up their luggage and getting off the plane, Agnes stretched her arms until she was satisfied to hear a snap. The two went inside the airport, going straight to the area where their other luggage would be. Harriet carried a lilac backpack full of stickers on her back, she held Agnes's hand and looked at the shops and cafes she had in the airport cafeteria. A thought came to Agnes's mind a few hours ago since they had eaten something, but she has heard food comments from places like that and she should avoid buying there. She would ask her uncle for something or if he couldn't, she would buy something in town. Now that they had all the luggage, in this case only Agnes was taking it with a little difficulty, they went to the exit where their uncle was supposed to be. It took Agnes a few minutes to spot her uncle, but she would recognize him anywhere. He was tall and thin, he had glasses over his nose, making his gray green eyes visible and his brown hair needed a new cut, he held a sign that said Howard. He seemed to notice the teenager staring at him, and slowly raised his hand with an awkward smile. Agnes caught Harriet's attention and pointed at the grown man, the little girl understood and they went towards him. He was greeted with a hug from the teenager and just behind her, Harriet was a little shy.
-Wow Agnes! I almost didn't recognize you. You look like your mother.
-I disagree with that Uncle Cole.
-Well… maybe just a little bit.
Harriet was after her older sister, a little shy to talk to her uncle she never met. He lowered himself to eye level and smiled gently.
-And you must be ... Harriet! It is a pleasure to meet you miss I am your uncle. Her mother's younger brother, Nicholas Howard third at his disposal.
He held out his hand to her, and it must have been funny for Harriet because she giggled, Agnes just shook her head remembering that her uncle was a little silly about dealing with children. Harriet squeezed her uncle's hand then jumped in a hug, almost knocking him to the floor. Agnes felt humor about it, but it didn't last long when she remembered the rest of what was going to happen. She would have crossed her arms if she wasn't carrying those bags, she signaled to her uncle for help. And immediately understanding he took some bags, and they both went out of the airport.
Now they were in the parking lot, Uncle Cole was walking in the front showing the way to his nieces. They stopped in front of a slightly dirty light blue truck, but it appeared to be functional. With all their bags in the back compartment, they were ready to leave. Sitting down again, Agnes was still irritated by the situation, but at least it would be a shorter trip, less than an hour. About ten minutes have passed, but now they were on the road. Harriet was looking confused, watching the window carefully and Agnes noticed that.
-What's wrong Harriet?
-Hm? Oh! well ... I thought we were going to stay in that city we landed on.
-Never mind.
-Hmmm…
Uncle Cole realized that Agnes was too upset to answer little Harriet, "teenagers" he thought, shaking his head in denial of Agnes' behavior. But to liven up the mood he decided to explain a little of what was planned, so maybe it would be easier for them to already know.
-Hey Harriet, do you know the name of the city I live in?
-Hm? Oh not exactly, I think I forgot.
-Okay, I live in the countryside of Arcádia oak.
-Arcadia?
-Exactly, it's a very calm place, nothing much happens there.
Quickly Agnes took off his coat and wore it and folded it, burying his face in it, murmuring something unreadable supposedly in Norwegian. Uncle Cole sighed at Agnes' actions, he had to do something about it.
-A-Agnes?
-What is!?
-I-I bet there's something you can do there, b-but you can try a little bit, a-after all you have to take care of your sister too.
Agnes listened carefully and remembered that his uncle only stutters when he gets nervous, realizing that she was letting her frustration overcome her reasoning she leaned against the bench and crossed her arms. Now Agnes was thinking deeply, but despite everything she would never like the place.
-pssst! ... Okay, but I don't like it here the heat is horrible.
Uncle Cole smiled at Agnes and then indicated Harriet to talk to his older sister, she smiled and looked at Agnes mentally preparing some questions.
At the same time in another place, we found ourselves seeing a group of teenagers walking through the forest. Everyone seemed to be looking for something, but looking more closely it was visible to see that they were walking very carefully. Until one of them seemed to be too bored and decided to take something from his back pocket, but in doing so a crumpled paper noise was very prominent and scared the other teenagers.
-Toby! It's not chocolate time.
-Which is! I haven't eaten for hours.
-You can do that when we're done.
-We finish when !? Hours have passed and there is no sign of this supposed gecko.
A girl wearing purple and barrettes in her hair approached the two teenagers, she was carrying a bag with strings and took a note from inside.
-It's called swamp basilisk, and it's rare to find one on that continent Toby.
-Ahh! of course Claire, it's a rare reptile in expensive boots, we can skip that part.
-It's actually an amphibian, Toby.
-Guys, focus on the mission! Blinky said that we need to capture this living thing.
The teenagers once again walked in silence, but the thing they were looking for was about to cause some problems. A loud ringing noise scares the trio, quickly Jim answers the phone.
-Hello?
-Ah! Master Jim, how's the mission going to recover the creature? I'm afraid his owner is starting to get restless.
-She's going to have to wait even longer, no sign of that thing.
Jim pushed his cell phone away from his ear when a stir started on the other end of the line, amid frustrated screams, complaints of a squeaky voice and metal beats.
-Master Jim, I ask you to hurry, she is not kidding!
A Locomotion in the forest catches their attention, but the thing noticed their presence and ran through the bushes. Determined they began to chase the creature.
Now the sun went down indicating the beginning of the night, just so that the things that hide in the shadows come out and have freedom. However we found ourselves in front of a gas station near the forest and soon a vehicle stopped to refuel, being a light blue truck very familiar. Agnes and Harriet's uncle came out of it, he looked a little tired after all he spent the day buying new things for his nieces, for their mother had asked for summer clothes and supplies to be purchased, including ordering school books. Before he entered the gas station store he leaned into the car through the window, he seemed to be a little nervous.
-Agnes and Harriet stay in the car, I'll pay for gas. Do you want anything from there?
Agnes had a white packaging with a fastfood mark on the front, indicating that both had previously dined. And Harriet's face was a little dirty with Italian pasta crumbs.
-You don't need Uncle Cole.
-That calzone was great! I think I'm satisfied. Thank you uncle!
Nicholas smiled and ruffled the younger niece's hair, who laughed at the gesture, then walked out to the store. Five minutes passed and Uncle Cole did not return, Agnes peeked and saw his uncle in front of a bookcase watching closely. At that moment Agnes realized, her uncle was very indecisive at times and in this case, that was one of the times. She snorted knowing it was going to take longer than she should have, she started fiddling with her cell phone. It was like that for a minute, but something caught Harriet's attention. Deep in the forest she could see strange lights through the window, and she is a child, obviously she would be curious. The lights seemed to be approaching which alarmed her a little, starting to get worried she pulled Agnes's shirt. Now Agnes looked at Harriet with a bit of a bad mood, but his attention was on her. Harriet slowly pointed to where the lights were.
-What do you want, shorty !?
-Aggie has something out there …
Harriet spoke in a whisper, which annoyed Agnes. But Harriet was right, it was unusual for someone to walk through the woods and do a light show. Agnes decided to ignore it and went back to fiddling with her cell phone, but Harriet continued to insist that her sister pay attention to her.
Until Harriet finally made up her mind, Agnes was looking for music on her cell phone when the truck door slammed, and the place her sister was supposed to be sitting was now empty. Knowing what could go wrong, she went after her sister as soon as possible.
Agnes had to admit this place is strange, she felt a shiver down her spine with the sound of dry branches breaking, she would have used her flashlight cell phone. But to avoid being seen, she preferred to use the other senses, walking for a few minutes until she was very close to the constant light and movement. But she stopped when something moved in the bushes, she avoided moving so as not to atract the attention of that thing.
And in the blink of an eye something jumped right in front of Agnes causing her to fall on her back, she quickly moved to just to see the biggest lizard that could exist. The creature looked like some kind of reptile, it would not find strange Lizards in this region. But the size and coloring were abnormal, coming back to reality Agnes saw that he was going to attack again by taking a leap to pin the girl to the ground only to be hit by a punch right in the face. It looks like it stunned him, he staggered back away from Agnes. But then he shook his head and came to himself, hissing in disgust at her. Agnes got up quickly looking for anything she could use against the creature, a branch seemed like a good option. The Lizard was running towards her spitting near her feet, but Agnes quicker managed to hit his back. When Agnes looked at the ground where the spit hit, she saw that the saliva was glowing green and started to dissolve the grass.
-Acid!?!
The Lizard attacked again with acid saliva, hitting the ground and some stones from the surroundings. Now the Lizard looked angry, a green glow came from his mouth and from the spine of the head to the tip of the tail. But he didn't know that Agnes was also out of patience, she dodged the acid shots and waited for the right moment. The Lizard jumped ready to grab her arm, but he was hit by the branch that broke with the impact. The creature fell to the ground knocked out, Agnes was standing in front of him calmly studying the being. "I hope there are no more of those things in Arcádia" she thought, but her attention turned to a loud noise of something huge running towards her. And from the dark woods a huge giant roaring louder than thunder emerged from the shadows, Agnes was shocked by this and knew that nothing good could come of it. She was ready to run away, but she was surprised by a boy wearing blue who appeared out of nowhere and stood right in front of the monster, and the creature calmed down and its black and acid green eyes were replaced with a calm and peaceful look. When the boy looked at her direction he was startled by the presence of Agnes, whatever was happening Agnes was out. She was taking steps backwards ready to escape, but the boy tried to go to her and started talking to Agnes
-Wait I can explain !!
She felt something grab her arm, and reflexively kicked and ran as fast as she could. And for them, her silhouette was disappearing in the middle of the forest. The boy in blue stood next to the red-haired boy who was lying on the floor and moaning in pain dramatically.
-Toby?!
-She knows rule three ...
Toby Domzalski spoke whining and Aaarrrgh! He approached his friend trying to help him get up. Claire went to the knocked out basilisk and tied him with the ropes, but now Jim had something to worry about because they had been discovered. But it was just one person.. right? It couldn't be that big of a problem.
Back at the gas station, little Harriet came out of the ladies' room, she cleaned her clothes and hair from leaves and burrs. When she got there she walked towards the truck, but before she could touch the door, something reflected in her eyes. She looked for the source of the light and saw it near the sidewalk, getting closer was now ahead. It looked like a clock, but something inside it emitted a blue light. Marveling at the mysterious item, Harriet took it and studied the mechanism by running her fingers through the engravings. But her attention went to her sister's screams calling to her, running she went to where her sister was. Agnes had her hands on her knees trying to recover from the run, seeing Harriet she recovered herself even though she felt her heart pounding against her chest.
-Where did you go!?
-Calm down Aggie, I didn't even leave the post.
-You have any idea what!!! grrrr!!!
Agnes was still catching his breath, Harriet looked at the floor regretting it a little.
-Look here Harriet ... just promise me never to walk away like that again. This place ... is more dangerous than I imagined.
Harriet looked at Agnes and something on her face showed it was no joke, Harriet thought she saw fear in her older sister's eyes. Feeling dazed, she ran and hugged her sister's legs feeling tears welling up in her eyes.
-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!...
Harriet spoke in a whisper, and Agnes ran a hand over her head. Both of them went back to the truck, Harriet snuggled up next to Agnes. Uncle Cole finally returned carrying a bag and saying something about his credit card. Quickly Agnes motioned for him not to make a noise, in understanding he did his best in the silence. Finally starting the truck they drove away until the forest was replaced by low houses and buildings. When he finally parked the truck, they stopped in front of a big old house. The garden really needs to be tidied up, including grass and weeds. Uncle Cole sighed when he knew that day was finally over, but when Agnes looked at Harriet she was sound asleep. Caressing her head, she prepared to take her inside. Agnes carried her sister on her lap, but she was still able to use one hand and when she opened the door she could have a look inside the house. The place had an old classic feel, but it was still simple in Agnes' eyes. But there was a big mess of books and clothes and she mentally noted that she would have to do a good cleaning, Agnes went up until he reached a brown door where the guest room would be. He looked like the only tidiest room. The room was enough for the two girls, it was spacious and had two books and a bed by the window. But on the floor next to the bed, there was another mattress indicating where Agnes was going to sleep. Gently Agnes took off her small coat and hung it on the headboard and put Harriet's pajamas on. Opening the bedroom door again, she took her suitcase and placed it on the floor next to the wall next to her sister's.
Agnes went to the bathroom in the bedroom and took a shower letting the water wash her thoughts and try to calm her soul, she felt something deep inside. When she finished her bath she made her "bed" on the floor and lay down, she looked at the ceiling letting her mind wander without borders. Deep inside she felt something, that roar still echoed in her ears. Whatever comes, she will not tremble at that. She must be strong for her own sake and that of her little sister.
After a few hours, Agnes finally managed to fall asleep, but ... something in the room was still uneasy ... inside Harriet's coat ... the amulet called its owner.

I really loved the cover design, and I say thanks to those who will read the entire chapter. I have plans for the development of this story and I intend not to change the original story of the series so much, but I believe there is some very small difference.Well I like details, and my knowledge is acceptable even I notice that I'm not a fan of Romance so don't expect this theme in this fanfic okay?Stars out
