Summer vacation had just ended, Akko and her friends were returning to Luna Nova for another year of studying.
"You think Akko made it through the portal, she wasn't waiting on us," said Lotte as she walked with Sucy.
"She barely managed to get off the ground before school let out, I bet that she's lost somewhere in the forest," said Sucy.
"That's just mean, Sucy," said Akko who was standing under a tree to their right.
"Akko, how long have you been there?" asked Lotte.
"I arrived an hour ago, and for the record, I have been practicing the entire summer," said Akko as she walked up.
"Oh really?" asked Diana as she approached them with Hannah and Barbara right behind her.
"Diana!" said Akko as she quickly hugged the platinum blond, which took her by surprise for a second.
"I challenge you to a broom race," said Akko as she let go and backed up, pointing a finger at Diana.
"I'll accept your challenge, rival, but we have to get Headmistress Hoibrooke's permission first," said Diana who was blushing a little while flicking hair off her shoulder.
"Already have it," said Akko as she pulled a paper out.
"Did she really think that far ahead?" asked Barbara as everyone looked at her with stunned expressions.
"Professor Nelson will be the referee, we'll meet up in an hour," said Akko as she walked away with a big grin.
"What just happened?" asked Diana as everyone looked on with stunned expressions.
