Layken knew the boys were up to something. Every time she seen them they were whispering secretly with each other or they had their heads stuck in a book. Whatever it was they were up to Layken was determiend to find out. She knew Draco would jump at the chance to help her and when she brought it up she was plesantly surprised when he was extremely eager to help. He looked like a child on christmas day.
"So how do you want to do this?"
The pair were hauled away in Draco's dorm plotting how they were going to find out what the twins were up to.
"Well I say we follow them. It'll have to be after dinner because that's when they seem to disappear." Layken replied
"Are we going to confront them when we find out?"
"No. I want to speak to Professor Snape, he'll be able to tell us what Dumbledore has to do with it all." Layken knew that Snape would tell her whatever she wanted to know.
"Tonight?" Draco asked.
"Tonight." Layken confirmed.
The pair spent every minute at dinner watching the Potter boys. They were acting very suspicious and Draco was giddy knowing they were going to catch them in the act.
"You look like a kid in a sweet shop." Gracie laughed.
"I just can't wait!" Draco exclaimed.
Before dinner had ended the Potters took their leave and Layken and Draco followed after them, keeping to the shadows.
"Where are we?" Draco asked when the boys disappeared through a door at the bottom of the corridor.
"How do you now know where we are? This is the third floor. This is the forbidden corridor. You know, die a painful death corridor and all that?" Layken asked.
"What do you think they're doing in the forbidden corridor?" He asked.
"I don't know but I'm sure we'll find out."
The rest of the school were making their way back to their respective common rooms as the pair fought to get down the stairs. Once free of the crowded staricase they walked in silence to Snape's classroom. Layken chapped the door before slowly pushing it open.
"Good evening Miss Potter." He called gesturing for her to enter.
"And Mr Malfoy, to what do I owe the pleasure."
"What's on the third floor." Layken asked.
"Excuse me?" Snape made his way around his desk and perched on the front, glancing down at his two students.
"What's on the third floor?" She asked again.
"I don't know what you mean." Snape drawled.
"We just saw the Potters going down the corridor. We know they're up to something and we want to know what." Draco chimed in.
Snape's eyes widened as he realised what had just been said.
"You're absolutely sure you saw them in the third floor corridor?" He asked.
"Yes! They snuck down the corridor and went through the door at the bottom." Layken said. "What is going on?"
"The Philosopher's Stone is located on the third floor. I can't tell you any more just now. Come back tomorrow and I will tell you everything you want to know."
"Thank you Professor." Layken smiled, leading Draco out of the classroom.
"The Philosopher's what?"
Draco had recounted what they had seen and what Professor Snape had told them to their friends and they were just as confused.
"It must be something important if Dumbledore's trying to keep it hidden." Layken was as confused as the rest of them and was eager to hear the rest from Snape.
"I can't imagine why anyone would want to keep something of value in a school where just about anyone could stumble upon it." Gracie commented.
"The man doesn't think logically, that's answer enough." Theo retorted.
Layken lay in bed that night staring at the hangings unable to sleep. She had a bad feeling about whatever was going on in the castle at that moment. She was nervous about what all of this would mean for her, it was her luck that she would end up dragged into it.
A.N - I have gone through all the previous chapters and edited what I thought needed changed. Most of the changes in chapters 1-9 are minor, there is a big scene change in chapter 10 and chapters 11-13 have been re-written so I can only apologise to those who have previously read the unedited chapters but I feel the story flows better now. I hope you all enjoy the new and improved chapters:)
