CHAPTER 1

"Father, you called me back to Japan just for this?" He said in frustration, pacing around the room. His father had just told him what he did not want to hear. "You can't be serious, father."

"Yes, I am and I expect you to not argue." His father said calmly. "You will marry her and that's final."

He snapped his head up with his face flaming with anger. "I will not agree to this, father." He said, raising his hands. "I don't love her and I have a girlfriend." He yelled out in frustration. "What am I supposed to tell my girlfriend?"

His father stood up from his chair. "You are my son and you will do as I said. Rin is a very nice girl and you two grew up together. How can you not like her?" He asked, walking to his son.

"I don't know her. I haven't seen her in years." He protested. "And what have she got to say about this arrangement?" He questioned.

"She agreed to it, unlike you."

"Of course, she would." He said bitterly. "Who wouldn't agree to marry into a wealthy family?"

"Stop that." His father said in displeasure with his son's comments. "She is a very nice and smart young girl. If you get to know her, you will like her, too."

"I won't and never will, father." He felt more frustrated. "I will not marry her and I will not change my mind." He said and turned to leave.

"Kohaku Taijima!" His father yelled out. Kohaku stopped at his track. He knows when his father called him by his full name, he means business. His father walked to him and stood in front of him. "You will marry her." Kohaku opens his mouth to protest. "If you do not, I will sign over the company to her." His father threatened before he could say anything.

Kohaku's face reddens with anger. "What?!"

"If you disagree with this arrangement, I will sign the company over to Rin." His father simply said and walked over to his chair and sat down.

Kohaku's eyes widened and swirled around facing his father. "You can't do that, father."

"Yes, I can and I will." He said leaning forward. "So what will it be?" Kohaku was silent and unable to speak. But Mr. Taijima could tell that his son was feeling frustrated with the situation. He loves his son dearly and wants what is best for him, but he also knows that Kohaku is very stubborn.

"All right, I will marry her." Kohaku finally said slowly, feeling defeated.

"Great!" His father stood up happily. "The wedding is this weekend."

"What?" He snapped. "I've just agreed to this and now you are telling me it's this weekend?" His father nodded with a smile. Kohaku's face flamed with rage. His blood was boiling with anger. His fists tighten as if trying to hold his anger in. "Fine." He said through clenched teeth. "Anything else I should know about?"

His father thought for a moment. "No, that'll be all." He simply said.

Kohaku stormed off not waiting for his father to finish. His father frowned in disappointment, but was smiling after.

Kohaku stormed out of the house and went looking for his bride to be. He went to look for her, but she was nowhere to be found. He then decided to go to the kitchen and asked the maids there. "Where is Rin?"

"Miss Rin is still at school, Young Master." One of the maids answered.

"What? She's still in school?" He said in anger. He stood there for a moment and stormed off.

One of the younger maids rushed over to the other and said, "Headmaster Kaede, I don't think Young Master takes the news very well."

"I know this would happen when Master Taijima announced the engagement for Young Master Kohaku and Miss Rin." Kaede said. "Poor Miss" She said with a frown. "Now she has to deal with Young Master Kohaku."

"It's a good thing she's in school. At least this will give Young Master Kohaku times to cool down before he confronts Miss Rin." She said and Kaede nodded in agreement. She walks back to do what she was working on. "How do you think Miss Rin feels about this whole arrangement?"

"Knowing her, I think she did not want to disappoint Master Taijima so she goes along with it. Especially now that Master Taijima is not feeling well and the doctor said he does not have much time." She said sadly.

When Rin got home later that day, she missed Kohaku. Kohaku took off after finding out that she was still at school. They both had not seen each other for many years. His father had sent him to study in America when he was only fifteen years of age. His mother passed away when he was only five. His father was a very good friend of the Suzuki's. When Rin's parents died in a car accident, his father took her in because she does not have any relatives around. He loves her like his very own daughter.

Kohaku came home late that night drunk. His friend dropped him off and it took three servants to carry him inside and up to his room. His father was very disappointed in him, but understands what his son was going through.

The next morning, Rin came down for breakfast and got ready to leave for school. She was having breakfast at the table when Kohaku came down. He approached her from behind at the same time she stood up and turned to leave. She stopped and gazed in his eyes. They stood there in silence with their eyes locked.

For a moment, he had forgotten why he was there. He could not believe that his wife-to-be was not what he had expected. The last time he remembered, she was a whining and ugly little girl. His face darkened at the thought of her ruining his life.

"You are not that bad looking." He said and circled around her, checking at her up and down. Rin frowned in confusion. "I'm sure you can find a nice guy who will take good care of you." He stopped in front of her. "Why does it have to be me?" He snapped. Rin stood there in silence, unable to speak. He suddenly grabbed her upper arms and squeezed it hard. "Because you just ruined my life, I will make your life a living hell." He said bitterly, shaking her. "I will have no love for you, but hate."

"Kohaku! Stop this instant." His father cried from behind. Kohaku's jaw tightens and he lets go of Rin. Rin rubbed her arms in pain. She was fighting to not show any sign of pain in front of Kohaku. "What are you doing to her?" His father asked.

"Nothing, father." He said innocently. "I was just trying to get to know my bride to be." He said smiling wickedly at Rin.

"Good. I hope that's the only thing you were doing." His father replied with his eyes narrowed.

Kohaku sighed in annoyance and rolled his eyes. "I wouldn't dare do anything to your precious daughter-in-law, father." He said bitterly. "If you don't need anything, I am going."

"Wait. I want you to take Rin to school." Rin looked at him in surprise.

Kohaku was about to protest, but Rin beat him to it. "No!" Kohaku and his father raised their eyes in surprise. "I mean, Young Master Kohaku is probably busy. I don't want to bother him." She said, looking at Kohaku and hoping he would agree with her.

"I don't mind, father." Kohaku suddenly said. "I'll take her." He said and looked at Rin with evil eyes. Rin looked at him suspiciously.

"Great." His father said with a bright smile and turned to Rin. "And Rin how many times have I told you to not be so formal? We are now one family and this will give you two a chance to get to know each other."

"But…" She started to protest.

"Come along." Kohaku grabbed her hand and pulled her with him. "We don't want you to be late for class." Rin looked back at Master Taijima for help but all he did was smile. Kohaku dragged Rin to his car and shoved her inside. Rin scowled at him, but he ignored her.

Kohaku was speeding and was driving like a madman. He kept his eyes straight and Rin could see he was raged with anger. Kohaku was cutting lanes and speeding even more. Rin holds on to the seat for her dear life. She was pale with fears. Kohaku glanced at her with a wickedly smile. He knows she was scared. He suddenly stopped just an inch away from the car in front of them and Rin screamed with fear.

"Young Master Kohaku, are you trying to kill us both?" She yelled at him after her heart had calmed down a little. He did not answer her. "If you didn't want to take me, you could have dropped me off somewhere so I can take a taxi." She said dryly.

"And miss a chance for this?" He said with evil eyes. He suddenly sprung forward. Rin grabbed the seat and screamed. All Kohaku did was laugh.

He dropped her off in front of the entrance. Rin stumbled out and slammed the door angrily. Kohaku took off with a streak. Rin sighed in frustration and walked to her class.

A/N: So what do you guys think of this? BTW, this is a Sesshoumaru x Rin fanfiction so you will probably know who our main lead is. And Sesshoumaru will have his chance to show up later. Update will be slow as I am still stuck on how I want this story to develop.
