YOU BELONG TO ME
CHAPTER 2
Weekend came quickly and the Taijima's house was busy. Servants are setting up and getting the food ready for the wedding. It was not a big wedding because Rin had asked for a small wedding and just for close families and friends. The family lawyer was also present for the wedding. Kohaku and Rin are to sign a marriage certificate at the wedding.
It was almost time for the wedding to start and Kohaku was nowhere to be found. Mr. Taijima was furious when they could not get a hold of Kohaku. Rin was waiting in the room for Kohaku so they could start the ceremony when she overheard the servants talking and she was in tears. She knows that Kohaku does not want to marry her, but she didn't expect him to humiliate her on their wedding day.
Kohaku showed up two hours late. His excuse to his father and the guests was he had something important to do. His father was very upset; he went into shock, but was able to recover and have the wedding go on. After the wedding, both Kohaku and Rin sign the marriage certificate making them officially married. After Kohaku signed the paper, he took off again. Only this time his father had a heart attack and was picked up by an ambulance.
Kohaku was unaware of his father's condition because his father had a heart attack after he had left for the States and forbidden the servants to voice it out. Kaede had tried to reach him by phone but could not get through to him.
Rin was waiting at the hospital and was still wearing her wedding outfit. After three hours gone by, Kohaku finally showed up at the hospital just in time to hear the news of his father.
"I am sorry; your father doesn't have much time. There's nothing we can do to save him." The doctor announced it to them sadly. Kohaku stumbled back in shock and in tears. Rin breaks down crying. "He asked to see both of you." Both Kohaku and Rin nodded and walked into the room.
Rin knelt down next to Mr. Taijima and Kohaku sat next to her. Rin grabbed Mr. Taijima's hand. "Don't cry, Rin." He said to her weakly. "I am happy to have seen you two married." He smiled. "Now I can die happy."
"Don't say that." She said with tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I want to talk to Kohaku alone, can you give us a few minutes?" Rin nodded and leaned over to kiss him on the cheek before leaving. Kohaku was motionless and unable to speak. "Rin is a very good person. She doesn't have anyone else. You are her husband now and I want you to take good care of her." He said, all Kohaku could do was nod.
"You will get through this, father." He said sadly.
"I have been holding on for so long to see the day you two get married and now I have." He smiled. Kohaku was fighting hard to not break down into tears. He had to show his father he was not as weak as he thought he was. "Promise me you will take good care of Rin, son."
Kohaku nodded. "I will father, and you will live to see it." He said with tears. His father smiled happily and fell into a deep sleep that he will never wake up again. Kohaku could not hold his tears anymore as he broke into tears by his father's side.
The funeral was held one week after his death. Many people came to his funeral. Rin and Kohaku were both busy with the funeral arrangements and taking care of the guests they did not have time for each other.
At the funeral, Kohaku's girlfriend showed up. He greets her and introduces her to his father's friends. Rin noticed how different Kohaku acted after his girlfriend had shown up. The way he looks at his girlfriend was very different from the way he looks at her. She felt humiliated because she was his wife. Kohaku had completely ignored her.
Kohaku's girlfriend approaches Rin before she could leave at the end of the night. Kohaku was with her.
"So this is your wife?" She said looking at Rin up and down. Rin frowned. Kohaku did not comment on her remark. He looked at Rin with annoyance. "You didn't tell me she was pretty." She said smiling sweetly at Kohaku.
"Compared to you, she's nothing close to beautiful." He said, returning her smile. He glared at Rin and noticed the hurt look in her eyes.
"Aren't you going to introduce me?"
Kohaku rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Kanna, this is Rin. Rin, this is Kanna, my girlfriend."
Rin masked her hurt feeling and forced out a smile. "Nice to meet you. Thank you for coming."
"Of course, I came. I love Mr. Taijima like my very own father." She said with a note of hint.
"Let's go, Kanna. I will take you home." Said Kohaku.
"You don't have to. You have guests to take care of."
"Rin can handle it. After all, it's a wife's job to take care of things when her husband is not around." He said coldly to Rin.
"In that case, let's go." She said and turned to Rin. "I hope you don't mind me borrowing your husband for the night." She said and they walked to Kohaku's car.
"Young Master oi." Said Kaede, shaking her head while standing next to Rin. "How can he do this to you, Miss?"
"It's all right, Headmaster Kaede. Beside I am his wife in name only." She said dryly.
"Miss Rin, you can't let him do this." She said with a frown. "If Master Taijima was still alive, he would not allow this to happen." Rin let out a deep breath and glared over to Kohaku's car.
After the funeral was done, Kohaku and Rin met up with Mr. Taijima's lawyer regarding his will. He had left the company to Kohaku on one condition. He had to stay married to Rin unless she chose to divorce him.
"This is absurd!" Kohaku said angrily.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Kohaku, but this is your father's wish." Said the lawyer.
Kohaku turned to Rin. "This is your fault!" He snapped at her. "Then we will get divorce today!" Rin did not answer, but rolled her eyes.
"You can't do that, Mr. Kohaku." Said the lawyer.
"And why not?"
"It said right here, you have to stay married to Miss Rin for at least three months."
"Like hell I will!"
"If you choose to not obey your father's wishes, the company and the house will belong to Miss Rin."
Kohaku turned to Rin with rage. He turned back to the lawyer and asked, "And the company?"
"As of now you are the owner of the company and Miss Rin is the co-owner. Unless Miss Rin chooses to get a divorce after the three months period is up, the company will be yours and yours only." He said looking up. Kohaku sent a dirty look at Rin.
"Anything else I should know about?"
"No, that will be all. And if you will excuse me I have a meeting to attend to." He said and stood up. "If you have any questions, feel free to contact me." He handed Kohaku his card.
"Thank you." Kohaku said.
After the lawyer leaves, Kohaku turns to Rin, "I hope you are happy." He said charging toward her. Rin quickly backed up.
"I will gladly divorce you after the three months is up." She quickly said.
"Damn well you will." He said coldly. He trapped Rin against the wall. "In these three months, stay the hell away from me!" He said through clenched teeth and stormed off.
Rin watched him leave with tears in her eyes. How can he hate her so much? All she did was obey his father's wishes. She quickly wiped her tears away and walked out.
