"Worried about your girlfriend, DiNozzo?"
Set around 13x23-13x24. Ziva is in danger. Kort, Sahar who is her biggest enemy? The team is ready to do whatever it takes to find her and protect her. What does it mean for Tony and his lost love? Tiva centric (as always)
…..
Chapter 1:
Security at the airport caught Kort before he could flee the country. Maybe he was not as invisible as he thought he was. His destination: Israel.
They were all glad that he didn't get to Ziva. Yet, they didn't know how to prove him guilty.
"Talk, Kort. We have you. We know. And we gonna get those files. So you better talk. Now. "
Gibbs' ice cold look pointing at Trent in the interrogation room. He wanted to punch that smug face. He wanted to shoot him right there.
"I'm not telling you anything. You know nothing." He laughed into his face.
"You are not getting to Ziva. She has the files. You are going down. "
"Funny. How we care about people who are no longer in our lives."
That got Gibbs' attention. He tensed. As well as Tony behind the glass.
Monroe, Bishop, Tim, the British guy, director. They were all there, watching that narcissistic CIA face.
"What's your deal, Kort?" Gibbs asked. He was very aware of the possibility of Ziva being still in danger, even though this man was under the lock.
"You know... You care. About her. You all care about her. And yet, she does not give a shit."
Tony could feel their eyes on him. Maybe the new guys did not know what Ziva meant to him, but his team knew that very well.
"She's David. She can pretend to leave the scene, but she will always be David. CIA won't let her go just that easily." He smiled, with evil painted all over his face.
"What. Do. You Mean."
"You would do anything for her, right? Because I am very sure DiNozzo would." His eyes went straight to the glass. He was aware of Tony's presence there. And he knew how to hit on his nerves.
"You enjoyed her well, DiNozzo, didn't you?" he raised his voice. „She shagged you good, just the way she did it with many, many others, huh?" he chuckled.
Without thinking, without anyone stopping him, he rushed out.
The door opened and slammed back.
"You son of a bitch. If anything happens to her, if anyone touches her I will kill you." said Tony, kicking the chair. Kort landed on the floor. He hissed in pain, but it was not painful enough to stop his smirk.
"You lovesick fool. You should have never left her." He paused, now looking at Tony seriously. "She never loved you. If she did, she would have told you the truth."
With one swing move, Tony kicked him, aiming for his stomach.
"DiNozzo stop!" Gibbs held him back as he tried to reach that devil's minion again and again with his shoe. He felt more strength, more people pulling him back. His knees weakened as he lost his power.
He resigned, as he got pulled back by Vance.
"CIA followed Ziva?" Gibbs continued.
"More like follows."
Gibbs looked at Tony. If CIA knew, Kort knew. And she was still in danger.
"We have to find her." Tony pleaded. He was too weak to fight his feelings. Let them know. He needed her to be safe.
"You have no idea. If you knew everything she has done, you wouldn't care. Not about her per se."
"What the hell are you talking about?!"
Kort slowly got up, his abdomen aching, but that has never stopped the man form laughing.
"Find her. You always do that anyway. Find her and see yourself. And now, I want my lawyer. I won't tell you anything."
With that, the interrogation ended.
"McGee, update.
"I was searching through Ziva's old contacts. Everyone I could think of. No hits yet. Bishop's doing her NSA magic. MI6 have some people in Israel, they are looking around but no one knows anything. I checked her credit cards, but she withdrew lots of cash a couple of months ago."
"Keep looking, McGee."
"Boss," Tim looked desperate, "I don't know where to look anymore. "
Gibbs was worried, he knew yelling at his agent would not help right now. "DiNozzo, got something new?"
"I think Eshel lied when he told me he hasn't spoken to her in over a year."
Gibbs looked up at his senior agent. "You think, DiNozzo?"
"I never trusted the guy. I should have never trusted him."
"Then why did you?"
"Because she trusts him, boss. But now I don't think I can even trust her."
"Hey!" Gibbs walked to his desk, "Don't let Kort into your head. You know her better than anyone."
"I'm not so sure anymore." Tony looked drained. Exhausted.
"Boss?" Tim's got their attention.
"There has been an attack. In Israel outside of Tel Aviv. A farmhouse."
They all looked at the screen, worrying, imagining the worst.
…..
Calls. Dozens of calls and nothing. Leon was not successful either. They were not given any proper information of her whereabouts. No one said it out loud but they all thought of it, worrying she was in that house. But hoping, praying, that she wasn't.
Time flew fast and the darkness outside was spreading. Vance forbade other agents to leave until someone got something. Gibbs was quiet. Unusually quiet. Tony was just… Not okay. His head was not straight, his mind telling him to not trust Kort and to believe, but still, he had doubts.
Tony got up; he needed to clear his mind a little. Men's bathroom was empty. He stood in front of a mirror, looking at his reflection, seeing worried face and tired eyes.
Someone walked in. Gibbs.
"You okay?" asked, standing next to him, their eyes meeting in reflection.
"Want the truth or the sweet lie?"
"Ah DiNozzo. We will find her."
"I need to know what was Kort talking about. I need to know what happened. I…" He covered his face with his palms, emotions overlapping surface, he was losing his strength. Losing his religion. "I got over her, you know? I moved on. Lived a life without her. A thing I thought I was unable to do. She is not even here for hell's sake and I can't breathe. I can't breathe until I know she is safe and sound."
"She was more than an agent to you. More than a colleague."
Tony looked at him, unsure what to tell.
"You are talking about what Kort said."
Gibbs just smiled. His smile was tricky though.
"She is special. She made me laugh like no one else. She made me feel things no one else did. Back in Israel, we spent some time together. Not enough time. I tried her to get her to come back. I really tried. She wanted to start there without me. Maybe she didn't feel the same way."
Gibbs patted his agent on his back. He wanted to show him his support. Tony deserved that.
"We will find her. Get back to the office, call some more people. Someone has to know."
…..
Tony did as Gibbs told him. Called and called. He bothered people all around the globe. No one knew anything. Bishop was tracking Ziva's possible last moved, McGee was hacking someone, the rest of temporary team was in Mtac, contacting embassies. All of them, with no luck. They had a long night ahead of them.
Until.
It was past 11, some agents left, but the office was still pretty busy.
Until.
Clocks were ticking. Voices were raising and the nervousness surrounded them.
Until.
A ding. A classic NCIS bullpen elevator ding.
And she walked in, like the world was not ending.
"I believe you are looking for me."
