"Demon blood!?"

He wasn't sure who shouted louder, his mom or Bobby. It would almost be impressive if their tone of voice wasn't terrifying.

Dean had mercifully been the one to tell the rest of them about the whole thing and about Ruby as well as what Sam had done. Once he had gotten to the demon blood part he had gotten up and went to the other room. Thankfully he didn't leave the house but even going to the other room set Bobby off.

"Boy! Get back here!" Bobby shouted at him once Dean had finished talking. It took a moment but Sam came back into the room, leaning in the doorframe with his hands in his pockets as he stared down at the ground.

"Don't yell at him like that." John told him, his voice tense. He looked at Sam and took a deep breath. "Sam, just for the sake of everything. Can you confirm that everything Dean said is true?"

Sam didn't say anything or look up, he just nodded.

John shook his head, running his hand down his face. "Alright, okay. So...this is...something." he said. "So demon blood...is like a drug?"

Sam just nodded again, head bowed.

"Okay, so, drugs means addiction. Addiction means dependence which means withdrawal." John said. "Sam have you gone through withdrawal before?"

"Yeah." Sam said, his voice low and breaking. "Seizures, hallucinations, being thrown around the room. Literally."

"Did you mean to go through withdrawal or was it just because you didn't have access to demon blood?" John asked him.

"Didn't realize what was happening until it happened." Sam said quietly. "When it did...I called her."

"Ruby." Mary said, anger coloring her tone. "And what did she say? Did she come running over to give you more?"

"Took her a bit but she did." Sam said. "And ever since then...I didn't want to go through that again."

"Most people don't, hence why they don't stop doing drugs." John said, shaking his head. "Sam. You gotta understand that...this needs to stop. No more demon blood."

Sam stared at the ground. "No more demon blood potentially means no more powers." he told them. "Without the demon blood acting as a catalyst, I lose a lot of my control over them."

"And what exactly are you using those powers for other than not having to pick up your ass to grab a book?" Bobby demanded.

John shot him a warning look. "Sam, what are you using your powers for?"

"Sometimes my premonitions can help me find hunts before people get hurt. I use my telekinesis to exorcize people that are possessed by demons, it gets the demons out without hurting them." he told them. "On a hunt I can't get to my weapons my telekinesis helps, either by pushing the monster away or being able to pretty much summon a weapon. It all helps."

"And on hunts you need all the help you can get." Mary said, burying her face in her hands.

"Are you that bad of a hunter that you need that help?" Bobby half demanded. "I thought I trained you better than that."

"Stop it." John half snapped at him. Dean glanced at him, stepping back when he saw the look on his dad's face. He'd never seen it before, he had never seen his dad so close to losing his temper.

"I don't want to go through that again." Sam said quietly, barely audible. "The withdrawal...I thought that I was going to die."

"I've seen guys go through withdrawal, it's not pretty and it's hard." John said gently. "But Sammy...you gotta. This isn't good for you son, you have to understand that."

Sam shifted from foot to foot and looked away. "I don't know if I'm ready." he admitted in a small voice. "I just...I'm not ready."

"You choosing to do it is half the battle." John told him. "We can't force that."

"The hell we can't." Mary and Bobby said in unison. John glanced at them, chewing on the inside of his cheek.

"Mary, I've seen guys go through this by force. It's not pretty." John said. "He has to choose to give the drug up and go through withdrawal."

"Or I can put him downstairs in the dungeon where we wait for the blood to leave his system." Bobby said with a snort. "That's an option."

"No, that's not an option." John snapped at him. His voice softened when he turned back to Sam. "Sam, last night you...used demon blood, right?"

"Drank it." Sam corrected him quietly. "Yeah, I did."

"Alright, how long do you have until you need more?" John asked him.

Sam took a deep breath. "About...five or six days." he said, his voice still soft.

"Then you have five days to decide." John told him. "You have to be the one to decide to get off of this." he stared at his son for a moment before his voice softened. "Sammy, you do realize that you can't depend on this demon blood, right?"

"Yeah I do."

"Good." John said with a nod before he crossed over and wrapped his arms around Sam. Sam tensed up but slowly relaxed, bringing his own arms up to hug him back. He murmured something to Sam that Dean couldn't hear and then pulled away, Sam nodded and looked away, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Gonna get some air." Sam mumbled without waiting for anyone else to say anything, he left the room and the front door open and close.
