AN: Never going to leave those cowboys alone, am I? Somewhat related to #92 and #105. Also, weirdly obsessed with this song.
"Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road,
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more...
Hat is matte black
Got the boots that's black to match...
Can't nobody tell me nothin'
You can't tell me nothin.'"
Old Town Road, Lil Nas
Of all the decisions and discussions which have gone into their arrival on the blue planet, Venus didn't feel an ounce of concern when she saddled up a white horse she felt a kindred spirit to (a creature she still found quite quaint, both reliable and with a unique personality). The blonde senshi snuck off into the night - her home star rising on the horizon. Although she knew her sisters were more than capable of tracking her, she thought they might depart for missions of their own. The way of the gun was a mysterious thing. Venus had listened, had looked to the stars, and felt something akin to a magnet pulling her.
And, for her training — for the blood of her ancestors — she was not scared to answer.
From their camp, she urged her horse towards the great desert, skirting the edges of the looming dunes and strange winds. Feeling the call of something she could not name, Venus prayed to the gunslingers who had come before her, those who knew what her path might reveal, that they might light the way. That the lives she might take would be for a greater purpose. That the protection she provided in the name of the princess would stand up against whatever evil who might cross her path.
Checking the gun and golden lasso at her side, she wondered what might be at the end of this particular road. She and her sisters at arms had grown in power and strength since finding each other. Together, they practiced. While Mercury might opt towards blending in, Venus never strayed from the look she'd been wearing since she took up the gun - black boots, tight trousers - hat black to match. The only acknowledgment of her home planet was the ring of gold around the brim, matched with gold spurs and her glowing lasso. Vanity, perhaps, but she did not care much.
She would be marked as a stranger, an outsider - but in the long run that would be her fastest path towards the kingdom. Whether they knew it or not, let them come for her, let them think they have captured her. They needed her protection. She would provide it — willing or not.
She spots the outpost before they see her, but allows the soldiers to believe they have taken her into custody.
It is a day's ride to the capital, and while they have her guns, Venus rests assured knowing they will work for no one but herself. Much as they marvel of the craftsmanship, she remains quiet.
The roads become busier, and Venus allows herself to take in the Lunar kingdom. While they are missing many of the technologies she's used to, there is an easy camaraderie amongst the people. Soon enough, she's brought forward to a great hall. As she walks in, a silver-haired man spars with a blonde youth. Neither wears a crown or any other sort of marking which would designate them as leaders, but like recognizes like. A frisson of awareness enters Venus's consciousness and she pauses.
She will not bend, nor bow to either of these men.
Before the soldiers have the ability to speak, she steps forward, her hands bound in front of her, and says, "You will listen." The silver-haired man looks at her, notes the lasso and her guns - shining on the hip of someone who they do not belong to, and nods slightly. "There is an evil coming. Perhaps it is already upon you. I have the means to protect you, but only if you hear me."
"We will hear what you have to say." The deep tone of his voice rolls over her, resonating in some strange way.
Listen... The guns seem to whisper.
