The days passed fast, faster than any of them really expected them to.

On the fifth day Sam started to get a bit jumpy, a bit twitchy and snapping at anyone that spoke to him. They hadn't even realized it before until the whole secret was out that he had been the same before.

At the end of the day Sam just stalked outside and worked on target practice and knife throwing. Dean watched from the window to see that his brother was shaking so hard that he was missing most of his marks.

He stayed outside all day, refusing to come inside even to eat anything and ignoring everyone that tried to make conversation with him. Especially about what was happening.

He also saw Sam try to move things with his mind again, this time he was barely able to lift the knife off of the table, let alone whatever he had been able to do before.

He could see just how much it was affecting his brother, not just the withdrawal but the whole loss of control. At one point Bobby stalked out there to yell at him and the look Sam had shot him would make even the strongest man turn away and leave him.

Dean couldn't get their conversation out of his head, he knew better than to go up to Sam right now and talk about it, most likely he'd end up getting his head ripped off or something, but he also refused to let it go.

Sam considered himself a lost cause. There had to be more to that, not just because of demon blood. There were more pieces to this puzzle that Sam wasn't giving him and Dean desperately wanted to figure it out.

He didn't give a damn what Sam thought, had done, or anything in between. Sam would never be a lost cause to him and he didn't care what he had to do, he'd make sure that Sam knew and believed it.

After they got through this whole demon blood and whether or not Sam was going to stop using it.

On the sixth day, Dean saw Sam's phone that Ruby was trying to call him.

Mercilessly, Sam didn't answer the phone. Just tucked it into his pocket and avoided them all the more.

On the seventh day, Sam was in the bathroom most of the day, door firmly locked and blocked. They could hear him throwing up, even through the door it sounded more like liquid than food.

At some point their parents tried to break the door down but weren't able to, constantly being pushed away from the door. Apparently his powers came out in full force during withdrawal but he didn't have any control over it. It just came out in response to what he was feeling.

They tried to get him to eat but he refused to open the door, they left the food outside of the bathroom and it remained untouched.

Dean sat outside of the bathroom, listening to how Sam moaned in pain and the sound of his dry heaving. He hadn't eaten anything in two days at this point and refused all food. At some point Dean heard the sink running and water being splashed and just hoped that Sam would drink some of it as well.

When the things in the hallway started to levitate into the air, Dean tried to talk to his brother. He wasn't sure if Sam heard him but the things fell back to the ground so...point for trying?

Sam didn't talk back to him, or their parents when they came up to try to coax him from the bathroom. At some point Bobby suggested breaking in and just dragging him down to his manmade dungeon and let him go through the rest of withdrawal there.

The worst part was that Mary looked like she considered it for a moment before shaking her head. John looked like he was a second away from punching Bobby in the face for the suggestion.

Dean had a feeling that it wasn't going to take long for John to snap and actually attack Bobby at some point. He's been getting more and more aggravated as well as short with the other man and it was only a matter of time before blood was shed one way or another.

At some point during the night Dean fell asleep, uncomfortable and still outside the bathroom in the hallway where he hadn't heard his brother for a while other than the occasional shuffle.

On the eight day, when they woke up, Sam was gone, his phone was on the kitchen table, and his car was missing.
