My muse hasn't been agreeing with me and I am struggling to find it in me to update my other fics, so here's a new 1 to hopefully get me more motivated and to help get the creative juices flowing.
Four year old Izuku Midoriya looked at Katuski Bakugo before turning to another kid that Bakugo was bullying.
"Why are you always picking on people Kacchan? If you won't quit, I'll have to stop you myself."
Bakugo gave Izuku a sadistic grin before moving closer. Izuku shook in fright, but managed to hold his ground.
"Want to play hero fine. We will see how long you last," Bakugo cackled as he and his lackeys moved closer and began to use their quirks on Izuku. After the attack, Izuku moaned in pain as he lied on the ground, before forming a fist.
'No, I can't let this continue. I will show Bakugo that I can make it as a hero. Starting now I am going to start training my body and become much stronger. I will prove a quirkless person can become a hero' Izuku thought with complete determination.
Fourteen year old Izuku awoken and took a deep breath. He sighed at the fact he dreamt about that day again. After that day he started his exercise routine to prepare for becoming a hero one-day. He looked at his alarm clock and groaned when he discovered he woke up a couple minutes before the alarm sets off. He got out of bed and made his way to the bathroom.
Izuku looked at his reflection in the bathroom mirror and sighed. Appearance wise he didn't stand out, with messy green hair and eyes with an admittedly pain looking face. Ironically, he did stood out to his peers in middle school by being quirkless. Not having any special ability is no longer the ordinary, but sadly it didn't make him stand out in a good way. He looked away from the mirror before taking off his shirt, revealing a body that is more muscular than the average 14 year old. He then slowly removed the rest of his clothing and turned on the shower, to start his day.
Izuku entered the kitchen, wearing a short sleeve shirt, exposing his muscular arms. His mother gave him a smile, as he took a seat at the table.
"Good morning."
"Morning mom."
Inko placed a plate filled with steak and eggs in front of him.
"You know I am amazed you are still committed to your training after all these years."
"Of course I am mom. I have to work extra hard if I am going to be on the same level as everyone else."
"Well, the results have been good," Inko simply said before examining her son's arm, "I mean the girls are going to be all over you."
"M-Mom," Izuku stuttered in annoyance.
"Seriously, you do need to work on making friends."
Izuku sighed, "I know, but it's hard when everyone looks down on me, especially Bakugo."
"I know," Inko sighed, "Maybe soon you will have a fresh start and will be able to make some friends in the future."
"Yeah," Izuku agreed, "Until then I just have to put up with my school life."
"Promise me you won't get into more fights."
"You are asking for the impossible. I can't help it I can into confrontations when I stand up for myself."
"I know. Just try."
"Yeah, I will."
Along the way to school, Izuku stumbled upon a crowd of people.
"Looks like heroes are in action. I have time to take a few notes," Izuku mumbled before making his way through the crowd. Izuku managed to find a decent spot to watch the action.
"This should be good," Izuku mumbled as he spotted Kamui Woods about to fight a giant villain that looks like a shark.
Kamui Wood grappled away from the villain, avoiding his attack.
"It's Kamui Woods. He's new, but has already made a name for himself," Izuku said excitedly as he watched the battle.
"I can tell you are a fanboy," The man next to Izuku said amused.
"Yeah, I guess," Izuku admitted awkwardly.
Kamui Woods grappled onto the villain and managed to maneuverer close to him.
"Assault, robbery, and illegal use of powers during rush hour traffic. You are the incarnation of evil," Kamui Wood announced preparing his attack.
"Here comes his special move," Izuku said in complete anticipation.
"Binding," Kamui Woods began as branches rushed from his arms towards the villain, "Lacquered Chains Prison ."
"Canyon Cannon."
The villain received a power kick, knocking him back, before Kamui Woods could capture him. The person who kicked the villain turned around, revealing themselves to be female. The crowd began to take pictures of the new hero.
"It was a piece of cake for the world's new hottest hero. Hi everyone I'm Mt. Lady and you don't have to worry about this guy anymore."
Izuku took out his notebook and began to write.
"Gigantification, huh. She does have the looks and attitude to be a crowd favorite and her quirk is impressive, but it will be hard for her to get around the city without doing any damage. She might not be very useful."
"Are you taking notes fanboy? Want to be a hero too?"
"Yes, more than anything," Izuku admitted.
Izuku entered his classroom and quietly took his seat. He watched his fellow classmates entered the room in indifference. He sighed as he watched Bakugo enter the room, as he owned the placed and sat down with his feet on the desk. Their teacher entered the room not so long later and settled down the class.
"As third years it's time to plan out your careers," The teacher began, "Oh who am I kidding? You all want to be heroes don't you?"
"Don't lump me in with all these losers teach." Bakugo announced pissing off the class except for Izuku, who merely rolled his eyes.
The insulted classmates tried to defend themselves only for the explosive quirk user to scoff.
"Oh you are planning on going to UA Bakugo," The teacher announced.
"What they only accept the best."
"They only have a 0.2% acceptance rate."
"Face it I am the only one here worthy of going there and it's the only place worth my time."
"Oh and Izuku Midoria is also planning on going."
Izuku pinched the ridge of his nose as his classmates turned to look and laugh at him.
"You can't. You are quirkless."
"Do you really think they would let someone like you in?"
"Don't forget this quirkless kid manages to beat all of your scores at the fitness test every year and could best most of you in a fight."
Everyone promptly shut their mouths, before Bakugo scoffed.
"How many times do I have to tell you to give up, Deku?"
"And how many times do I have to tell you to leave me alone?" Izuku responded before Bakugo reached his seat and knocked him back with an explosion.
"Just give up already!" Bakugo shouted angrily as he glared down at Izuku.
"Enough!" The teacher announced, "No using quirks in the classrooms."
Izuku took a quick breath and nodded while Bakugo grumbled an agreement.
At the end of the school day, Izuku quickly scrolled through his phone.
"As expected the fight from this morning is all over social media. Must remember to get some notes down," Izuku mumbled to himself.
Izuku picked up his hero analysis for the future notebook and was about to leave the classroom when Bakugo appeared and took it.
"Seriously, Bakugo? When are you going to give up?"
"That's my line Deku," Bakugo snarled before burning the notebook and tossing it out the window.
"You always were a dick Bakugo, but you just hit a new low," Izuku said with a glare.
"Let me give you some advice nerd," Bakugo said in a creepy calm voice, as he placed his hand on Izuku's shoulder and heated it up, "Without Quirks you can't go far in the hero business, so just give up."
"You seem to forget this quirkness nobody can hold his own against you in a fight, so that doesn't speak much about you, huh buddy."
Bakugo growled and was about to set off an explosion when he changed his mind.
"You know what I am not in the mood. Consider it your lucky day Deku," Bakugo growled out before making his way out of the classroom with his two lackeys.
Izuku blinked as he had forgotten that they were here.
"Now that I think about it. If you want to be a hero so bad, just jump from the roof of the building and hope for a quirk in the next life." Bakugo said as he left the room.
"You know that is actually tempting Bakugo. That way I don't have to put out with you!" Izuku responded.
Bakugo flinched and turned around with a glare, before shaking his head.
"Don't test your luck Deku!" He shouted before leaving.
Izuku left the school and managed to spot his notebook in water, being eaten by fishes.
"It still seems to be in one-piece. Might as well get home and do my exercise for the day," Izuku mumbled as he picked up his notebook.
Izuku sighed as he recalled the day he learned he wouldn't be getting a quirk.
"Sorry kid it's not gonna happen," The doctor told the four year old Izuku
Izuku was completely stunned and dropped his All Might action figure.
"Are you sure there is something wrong? Most of the kids in his kindergarten class, has shown signs of developing quirks already." Ino asked the doctor.
"My records shows you are a fourth generation quirk user. What can you and your husband do?"
"Nothing too special. I can pull small objects towards me and my husband breathes fire. They have their uses I guess."
"Izuku should have already developed one of these quirks or a combination of both, but after looking at his x-rays, I am afraid he isn't going to. When quirks first developed there were many studies done and a link was discovered between the likelihood of getting a quirk with the number of bones in a person's foot. People with quirks only have one joint in their pinky toe, but Izuku here has two. I am sorry to say your son isn't going to develop a quirk."
Later that night young Izuku was once again watching All Might in action. Ino slowly approached her son.
"See mom. No matter how bad things get he always has a smile on his face. He never gives up, no matter how impossible things seem to be. Do you think I can be a hero like him?" Izuku managed to ask with eyes filled with tears.
Ino rushed to her son and gave him a huge hug.
"I'm sorry Izuku. I wish things were different."
Izuku shook his head and tried to clear his mind of that painful memory, as he reached a tunnel. He entered the tunnel, determined to accomplish his dream, no matter what Bakugo, or anyone else thinks. Along the way he encountered a giant slime monster. Izuku froze and took a relaxing breath.
"Well, you'll make a good vessel kid." The slime monster said before surrounding Izuku and tried entering his body.
Izuku struggled and managed to move a little.
"You're a fighter huh. Your will may be strong but it will soon fade."
"No, this can't be the end. Not now." Izuku thought as he continued to struggle.
Suddenly, a manhole cover shot up, revealing All Might.
"Have no fear! You are safe now that I'm here that is!"
Izuku froze when he realized his idol was here to save him, while the slime monster tried attacking All Might. All Might effortlessly dodged the strikes
"Texas Smash!" All Might exclaimed as he punched the slime monster with extreme force.
"Damn All Might. If only that kid wasn't able to surprisingly resist me." The Slime monster screeched before breaking apart.
Izuku managed to see All Might as he was being knocked backed from the force of the attack.
'I can't believe I am actually seeing him live in person, let alone being rescued by him,' Izuku thought before reaching the ground.
Izuku rubbed his head and managed to get back up. All Might smiled at the young teen.
"Nice to see you are in one-piece. Sorry about getting you involved in that, but thanks to your help, I managed to catch the monster," All Might told Izuku while holding a bottle, containing the slime monster.
"N-No problem All Might. Though I didn't do much. Could you sign my notebook?" Izuku managed to say to his idol before taking a deep breath.
"Check you notebook!"
Izuku opened his notebook and was pleased to find All Might's signature was already on it.
"He already signed it!'
"Also you were great help. You managed to hold him long enough for me to capture him and from what I've seen you were doing a good job at resisting him. Now I must take him into police custody. Stay safe."
"Wait, you are leaving already?" Izuku asked
"Pro heroes are always racing against the clock to fight enemies," All might said before getting ready to jump.
'No, he can't leave when I still have things to ask him,' Izuku thought in panic.
Before All might could launch himself into the air, Izuku managed to grab onto his leg.
"Get off kid," All might said before trying to knock Izuku off, "I love my fans but not like this."
"No I can't fall off or I'll die."
"Right. Good Point."
"Sorry. I just have something important to ask you. You are my all time favorite hero!"
"Ok. I get it. Just keep your eyes and mouth shut," All Might responded with a sigh.
All might landed on top of a building. Izuku was winded from the landing.
"That wasn't smart at all. Knock and someone will let you in. See You."
"No, Not yet."
"I don't have time."
"I just have to know, if you think it's possible for someone to become a hero when they don't have a quirk. I am a normal kid with dreams of becoming a hero. Could I hope to be like you one day, All Might?"
All Might turned towards Izuku, who managed to keep his eye on his idol.
"I spent since the age of four to improve my body for this. I started out small and moved my way to more intense workouts. I even studied and took notes on how pros do their jobs. I just to be able to save everyone with a fearless smile and be the kind of hero they can look up to!" Izuku finished explaining before gasping at the figure in front of him.
In front of him from was a man that looked too uncomfortably skinny
"W-Who are you? Where did All Might go? Impostor!" Izuku exclaimed freaking out a bit.
"I assure you I am All…" The figure tried to say before blood flowed from his mouth.
"No, this can't be," Izuku denied, "All might is too much of a giant of a man to be like this."
"I am trusting you to keep quiet about this," The figure said with a sigh, "Don't go talking about this to anyone."
The figure pulled up his shirt, revealing a nasty injury, that made Izuku cringed.
"Nasty. I know. I got this from a huge fight five years ago. I've tried fixing it with surgeries to no avail. I can only be the All Might everyone knows and loves for about three hours a day now."
"Five years ago. Your fight with toxic chainsaw"
"You know your stuff, but no it wasn't him. He couldn't damage me to this extent. I did everything I could to cover up this fight. The world needs a symbol of peace, but sadly behind that fearless smile is fear I hide from everyone. This job isn't easy. While I commend you working hard to improve yourself and I can see the truth to your statements, the fact remains some villains can't be beaten without powers. I am sorry to say I don't think you can become a hero without a quirk." All might explained to the teen.
"I- I see," Izuku simply said.
"There are plenty of other ways to help people. You could become a police officer. They barely get any respect or recognition, but it's a fine career," All might said as he walked to a door leading into the building, "It's fine to have dreams kid, but make sure they are realistic."
Izuku sighed as he watched his idol leave. He stood there thinking over the conversation for before noticing smoke from a distance.
"Another villain? Wonder what hero will show up this time," He mumbled while preparing to go check it out, before he stopped and remembered All Might's answer.
Izuku shook his head before leaving.
Izuku was looking through his notebook while walking through the city. He froze when he stumbled upon All Might's signature.
'Maybe I am wasting my time. If All might doesn't think I can than maybe…' Izuku thought as he wiped a single tear, 'Maybe I should consider being an officer. At least then my years of hard work won't go down the drain.'
Izuku stumbled upon the fight he spotted while on the building.
'Why am I here? Did I come here subconsciously just to check it out?' Izuku thought before joining the crowd, 'I shouldn't stay. I am not really in the mood.'
Izuku froze when he saw the slime monster that attack him earlier.
"Why is he here? All Might captured him. Oh no! I made him drop the bottle. This is all my fault!' Izuku thought with guilt.
"A slime monster is attacking. Why aren't the pro heroes doing anything?"
"The monster has a kid."
'The monster captured someone' Izuku thought with his guilt increasing.
"Wasn't All might after this monster?"
"Yeah, where is he?"
'I caused All Might to use up the rest of his time and the others are unable to do anything. This is my fault. All we can do is hope for someone who can help.' Izuku thought while he closed his eyes.
Suddenly, before he knew it Izuku was rushing towards the slime monster.
"Kid stop! you'll get yourselves killed!"
'Why can't I stop?'
"You again," The slime monster said in annoyance.
"Deku," Bakugo managed to say.
"You're toast kid."
'What can I do? What would a hero do?' Izuku asked himself before coming up with an idea.
Izuku took off his backpack and sung it at the slime monster as hard as he could. Junk flew out of it managing to faze the monster enough to give Bakugo some air.
"Bakugo!" Izuku shouted while rushing towards him and tried to completely free him, by scrapping the slime monster off.
"Why are you here?" Bakugo asked.
"You may be the biggest dick I know, but even you don't deserve this Bakugo," Izuku answered.
Izuku continued trying to free Bakugo, but the slime monster prevented him from making progress. On the plus side Izuku was able to prevent the slime monster from trapping Bakugo further. Izuku began to go through every painful memory of everyone saying he couldn't become a hero.
"I just couldn't stand there and watch you die," Izuku told him as he continued trying to rescue him.
"That's it boy. I am done playing with you," The slime monster roared as it formed a hand and prepared to attack Izuku.
"Save the boy!" The pro heroes shouted before rushing towards the monster, only to be stopped.
Izuku instinctually held his arm in front of his face to try and defend himself
"I really am pathetic."
Izuku removed his arm and was stunned to find All Might in all of his muscular glory blocking the hit for him.
"All Might."
"I told you the traits that make a great hero, but it turns out I wasn't living out my own ideals. Heroes are always risking their lives of others." All might announced.
"Damn you All Might!" The slime monster shouted before preparing another attack.
"Detroit Smash!" All Might shouted while hitting the slime monster with a powerful punch, breaking him completely apart.
The punched also created a twister, that created strong winds throughout the area. Not long after the twister faded it started to rain. Izuku managed to get up and rubbed his head, before looking down at Bakugo.
'As I told you before, despite everything you did to me Bakugo, I am glad you are safe. I am so going to get chewed out for this, but I regret nothing.' Izuku thought.
"How could you put yourself in danger like that?"
"Sorry, but I couldn't help it!"
"There was no reason for to."
"Yes there was!" Izuku answered with anger, stunning the pro heroes scolding him, "I just couldn't stand there and let Bakugo stay in danger. I know what I did was stupid, but I don't regret it. While I couldn't save him, I managed to buy some time for All Might, while you didn't try to do anything until it was about to attack me."
"Kid our quirks couldn't have helped out in that battle."
"Yet, you couldn't bother to try while this quirkless kid did and managed to do what you couldn't do," Izuku responded shocking himself.
'Normally, I have no problems talking back or defending myself, but I can't believe I am doing it to pro heroes.'
"You're quirkless?"
Izuku sighed but nodded, "Heroes are supposed to risk their lives to help other no matter what. What does it say about a bunch of pro heroes when a quirkless boy did what you couldn't and tried to help?" Izuku asked before walking away.
The pro heroes were too flabbergasted to say anything in response as they watched Izuku leave
Izuku was walking home, ready to finally relax after this long stressful day.
"Deku!"
Izuku turned around and saw Bakugo walked up to him.
"I want to say that today doesn't change anything. I would never ask for your worthless help. You will always be worthless little Deku and you didn't save me. So, stop looking down on me!" Bakugo told him before leaving.
"Yeah, up yours too buddy!" Izuku shouted back at him.
Bakugo turned around and raised his fist before continuing on his way. Izuku decided to continue on his way.
"I am here!"
"All might? What are you doing here?"
"I have some things to discuss with you!" All Might answered before reverting back to his skinny form.
Izuku cringed as he watched his idol coughed and spew out blood.
"Young man I came to thank you and to discuss the question you asked me. If you haven't intervene with the fight I wouldn't have gotten involved, so thanks."
"No, It's all my fault he was there. I wasted time that could have been better spent," Izuku argued.
"I'm not done. When I saw you a quirkless kid tried to save someone, it inspired me to act. There are stories about every great hero and most have 1 thing in common. Their bodies moved into action almost on their own and today that's what happened to you. Young man you too can become a hero."
Izuku felt tears form in his eyes as he finally heard the words he so wanted to hear for years now.
Hope you enjoyed and are staying safe and healthy.
