Chapter 4: First Day
Leonhard's P.O.V.
Haha, I can't wait to see Heine's face when he check my assignments and praise me as I get high scores. What am I saying? I don't want his praises, I want to see him defeated by me. It's been an hour since I got to my room and wait for Heine's lesson. Is he trying to test on my patience? That fiendish tea-
*knock knock*
"Come in!" I replied. Heine and his scary looking sister entered.
"I apologize for being late, Leonhard Ouji." Heine said with a bow.
"What took you so long?" I asked and his sister step closer to me.
"Heine Sensei forgot to eat his breakfast." She answered and glare at me. She's so scary.
"Now that I've eaten my breakfast and I'm here. Let's start." Heine said and I give him my assignments with a smug. He check it and hand it to me. "Atleast you made a little progress."
15? 23? 19? 30? Yehey, I made a progress. I can't wait to tell dearest brother Bruno later.
Heine started his lessons and I open the textbooks and try my best to concentrate. I can't concentrate at all with that Heine's sister always glaring at me.
"What's the matter, Leonhard Ouji?" Heine asked.
"Your sister." I said and he gave me a question face. "She's so scary..." as I rub my shoulders when I left the chills from his sister's glare.
"Don't misunderstand her. That's her way of saying 'Let's be friends' or 'Nice to meet you'." Heine said and I doubt that. It feels like the opposite.
"I'm not very nice, Heine Sensei." She speak and walk closer to me. "The reason why I'm always glaring is that..." she gave me the scariest glare. "I despise royals more than anything."
Heine looked at his pocket watch and put it back in his coat. "It's time for my lessons with Bruno Ouji. I will dismiss myself and please don't forget to do your homework, your highness." He bow and walk out then his sister followed.
"HOW DARE SHE GLARE AT A PRINCE?!" I yelled. "She has no manners! What can possibly the royals did for her to despise us?."
"She should be honored in meeting us because it's the royals who tried everything for the citizens satisfaction..."
What am I talking right now? She can despise us as much as I despise her too. Yeah, I should dislike someone who dislike me. Now, I want to finish my homework so that I can do whatever I want. Wait a minute, Heine forgot to give me the homework. That forgetful tutor... I should follow him and tell him.
I stand up and ready my body to run. When I reach the door I almost fall face first. Someone managed to caught me in split seconds. It seems like a female, she caught me with her right arm.
"Are you okay, your highness?" She asked and I felt her arm struggling that's when I decided to stand up and see the face of my savior. It's Heine's other sister and she's holding a silver plate.
"I'm quite fine and I thank you for saving me. Can I ask what that is?" I said.
"I was asked to bring your highness' dessert. They said you've forgot to eat it." She answered and remove the cover revealing the mouthwatering slice of sachertorte. My eyes sparkled. "Your highness has a cute personality." She giggle and I blush, I didn't notice I was drooling.
"May I ask why are you running, Ouji?" She said and I broke my sight to the torte when I remember I was planning to run after Heine.
"Your brother, Heine forgot to give my homework." I answered.
"Shouldn't you be glad? That means you have no homework." She said and she has a point.
"You're right that means today is my free day." I exclaimed happily and snatch the torte which I immediately stuff inside my mouth. "TORTE~" She laughed.
"That's cute but I'm sorry to break your happiness, your highness." She said and pull out a few papers. "I've met Onii-chan on the way here and asked me to give your homework."
"Eeehhh???" I react and she just smile. "Too late, I won't accept it anymore. I just declared my free day." As I refuse.
"If you really hate studying that much then don't worry." She said and I rise my eyebrow at her. "I customized it, Leonhard Ouji." She said with a wink.
I took the papers and notice something on it. She's too kind and her sister is the exact opposite. I can't even believe they're siblings.
Bruno's P.O.V.
"I'll introduce myself." I speak up in front of Lannie. "I am Bruno von Granzreich, the 3rd prince. 17 years of age. A pleasure to meet you."
[A/N: Remember his birthday? He's not forever 16. :P]
"The honor is mine, Prince Bruno von Granzreich. My name is Lannie Wittgenstein. 17 years of age." She introduce herself and Sishou seems to be observing her carefully.
"I'll look forward for the both of you to be friends." Sishou speak up and pull out his lesson materials. Sishou started his lesson. I listen and take notes with full determination.
I didn't notice that time has passed and Sishou's lesson is finish for the day. Before he bow at me dismissing himself, I get my thesis and asked Sishou for a review.
"This is very good, your highness." He comment and my eyes sparkled. "You wrote everything related and yet it's still focus on the topic."
"You really think so, Sishou?" I asked to be sure because his words are too good to be true.
"Yes, this is a splendid work. Although it still has a few misspellings and you might want to redo this paragraph here. I marked it for you. Still, all in all it is excellent." He said and give back my thesis. My lips curved into a smile and my heart beats so excitedly.
"This is one of the happiest moments of my life." I didn't realize that I spoke my thoughts out loud. I was so flattered by his words that I want to thank and hug him out of joy. My arms can almost reach Sishou when a certain maid drag him away. "Of course, I spoke too soon." I muttered under my breath.
"Marie, why are you here?" Sishou asked.
"Licht Ouji is wondering why you're late and asked me to find you." She answered straightly with a blank face. Sishou nodded and called his assistant. They both bow before leaving. This maid stayed in her place.
"Entering a prince's room without a permission. Are you even minding your position? You're just a servant here, even my siblings are supposed to knock three times." I criticize her for suddenly appearing in my room.
"Why would I ask a permission from a prince like you who doesn't deserve respect?" She said back to me rudely.
"First off you rudely interrupted a conversation, next is entering without notice and now talking to a prince like that. You've gone too far, you peasant." I warn her angrily.
"You also have gone too far. Calling me a peasant means you're also calling Heine Sensei a peasant and I don't like that." She said angrier.
"I'm not referring anything I've said to Sishou. He's great among all people and you even don't have manners. Why would I call Sishou a peasant if I respect him so much. I think you should know the meaning of respect."
"Oh, you want respect? Fine, YOUR HIGHNESS." She said with a most sarcastic tone.
"What's with that tone of voice?"
"It's-" she got interrupted by a few knocks.
"Come in!" I response and Leine entered. "You can learn from your cousin here." I said to the maid.
"If you really think so then why won't you be a role model by doing so?" She said and Leine gave her a confused look which she noticed. "Is there anything I can help?"
"There isn't really but I think so by answering my question." Leine said and Marie stayed quite waiting for the question. "I thought you're emotionless but seeing you today arguing with his highness made me confused, are you finally healed?" Emotionless? That peasant? Healed? What are they talking about?
"No, I'm not and I believe it's not a good time and place to talk about it." The peasant answered and Leine nodded. "Why are you here?"
"Oh, yeah. I believe the maids are all busy of something so maybe you can go and help them. I have something to ask his highness." Leine answered her.
"I'm not leaving you with that prince." She said and gave me a death glare which I just ignore.
"Oh my, where's my manners?" Leine said and bow at me. She's the exact opposite of her cousin here. "I'm sorry for intruding to your room, your highness."
"It's fine because I'm not in the middle of something important anyway." I said and she straight her back.
"I believe Onii-chan was just here with Lannie. I was just with Leonhard Ouji and he told me that my sister did something horrible. I was afraid she did it to you too, your highness." She said responsibly.
"She didn't do anything horrible if Leonhard is gonna call it. She just stayed quiet in the corner the whole time." I said to her and she sigh in relief but her face still in confuse.
[Reality: Lannie was glaring at Bruno the whole time but didn't notice it because he's so focus on Heine.]
"Thank you for giving me some of your time, your highness." She said and bow. "I will dismiss myself with Marie." She said and get out with her cousin.
Licht's P.O.V.
"I believe we've been through this before, your highness. This is not a group lesson so kindly tell your friends to come back later." Heine sensei said.
"You heard him ladies." I said to my lady friends and they all seem disappointed.
"Heine-chan is so rude. He brought a girl here and we're not allowed to stay by prince's side in lessons?" One of them whine.
"Heine-chan?" Lannie asked softly.
"She's a sister of mine and an assistant. I need her presence here and if you're all here, I believe his highness cannot focus." Sensei said and the ladies pout while exiting obediently.
"I thought you have two little sisters, Sensei." I asked wondering where's Leine.
"Leine doesn't like you." He replied. That was too direct. "Now let's begin."
Just like what Sensei said, he started the lesson. I was listening attentively at the beginning but my mind wondered off. I don't really care for Lannie always glaring at me she might start to fall for me. She's pretty and cute but she's not really my type. Now that she's right in front though, I can observe her even more.
She has same hair color with Heine Sensei and maybe a little bit about the height but other than that I can't see anything else similar.
Both Lannie and Sensei can really say they're siblings but I'm not that convince. He's a man in 40's and has little sisters in 17 and 14? I can't even dig up more in his history if he has parents. All I heard is that he used to be a volunteer in a church to teach children in return they gave him food and shelter.
Too bad he only brought Lannie, I would like to observe Leine also. I want to see other similar features. I wish I scanned her earlier when I hugged her. I don't have extraordinary memory to recall all her details. If there's one thing I can remember a detail about her is the size of her chest is not bad.
Man, I'm thinking about her so much that I feel like she's at the door peeking at Sensei. Wait, she really is peeking at the door.
"That's all for today's lesson. Lannie, kindly give Licht Ouji his homework." Heine said making me realize I was in his lesson. Lannie hand me a few papers. "How long are you planning to stand there, Leine?" She was kind of obvious anyway. She bow at me before entering.
"I'm sorry for what I've done." She said at Sensei. "I was just observing..." as she avoid looking at anyone's eyes.
"Do you mind telling us why you're observing?" Sensei asked her directly which made her broke into a gummy smile. "Is that so? Well we can talk about it later after I finish with Kai Ouji's lesson." He said and push his glasses. "I will dismiss myself, your highness." He said to me with a bow and flap his coat while turning away.
Wait a minute, Sensei understood what Leine's gummy smile means? It's possible that it really doesn't mean anything and Sensei just nodded so that I can't keep my nose on it. I've got an idea. I suddenly smirk which made Sensei turn his attention to me.
"What's on your mind, Licht Ouji?" Sensei asked and I ignored him while staring at Leine's chest with a smug. "Educational guidance!" Before I knew it, Heine Sensei hit me with a book which really hurts.
"What did I do this time?" I complain while rubbing my head with a pout. He gave me a death glare.
Lannie grab Sensei and Leine away and walk straight to the door.
"Lannie!?" Leine said pouting at her sister whom gave her a confused look. "Talking about manners here."
"What?" Lannie asked and looked at me. "Nah, let's go out of this room." She said and continued on walking. Lennie pull her own arm and walk in front of me.
"Thank you for your time, Licht Ouji." Leine said with a bow and smiled at me. I smile back at her, using my right hand I softly pull her face towards mine.
"Anything for my princess." I said from my natural charming skills. Normally, any girl will get flutter and got lost in my beautiful eyes but she just smiled forcefully and run away to Sensei.
"Your highness!" Lannie yelled and I look at her. "You only have a little bubble left before she'll burst her formallity for you."
Does that mean she's not really polite?
Kai's P.O.V.
Can't wait for new friends... The more the merrier... I hope... they're also squishy... like Sensei...
Someone knocked three times. "Kai Ouji, it's time for your lessons." A voice said that belongs to Sensei. He opened the door and reveal himself with his little sister. Little...
"Kai Ouji, let me introduce to you again my sister-"
"Lannie... Wittgenstein... am I correct?" I interrupted Sensei because I'm excited.
"Good memory, your highness." Sensei said.
"I am... Kai von... Granzreich... nice to meet you..." I said to Lannie. She just stand there not saying anything.
"I'm happy for your improvement in communicating. Pray to tell what helped you?" Sensei asked.
I nodded. "Talking to... palace staffs... they help me..." I pause to think. "Everyone... so nice..."
"That is great, your highness. Now, shall we start today's lesson?" Sensei said and I nodded.
I sit and so did Sensei and Lannie. Sensei started the lesson and I try my best to listen. After half hour, Lannie get up from chair walking around. She is observing.
Lannie's hair is bouncing. Whenever she walks, hair bounces. Curly hair... looks so fluffy...
"Mafu... mafu... mafu... mafu..." I mumbled. My eyes following fluffy hair.
"Kai Ouji?" Sensei asked and I turn to him. "Is there anything you want to say?" I grab Sensei's hands.
"Funi funi... funi funi..." mumble squishing Sensei's hands.
"Kai Ouji..."said Sensei. "Our lesson is still not finish."
"Gomen..." I said letting go of squishy hands. I go back to listen to the lesson. Lannie sat down and look at me. Maybe she is shy.
When Sensei's lesson is finished, I grab his squishy hands mumbling 'Funi funi'. I noticed Lannie staring at me.
"Is something... you want to say...?" I ask her because she's staring at me the whole time.
She opens her mouth then close it. She bow down her head looking at her feet. "Nothing really." She said. She really is shy. I let go of Sensei's hands and walk near her.
"Don't be shy... we can be... friends..." I said to her but she still look down at her feet not saying anything. I become sad when I realize something. "Am I... scaring you...?" I asked and she keep silent. "I'm sorry... I don't mean to...". She lift up her head and look at my eyes with her violet ones.
"No, you're not." She said and I'm no longer sad. She avoided my eyes. "It just that... you're weird."
"Weird... why...?" I asked confused. She turn her head away, her cheeks turned pink. Maybe I'm asking too much. "Gomen... because I'm... not being careful... always asking...". She jerk up with shock look.
"No, no, no, it's not. I mean you're not." She slap her face. "Why am I nervous?" I walk closer to her and remove her hand.
"Maybe... you're only tired..." I said to her. Her face is red and she nod.
"Maybe... Heine Sensei and I should really go back now, your highness." She said and I nod. When she turn her head fluffy hair bounced making it look so fluffy. "Kai Ouji, have you noticed Heine Sensei left your quarter?" She asked but my eyes is on fluffy hair. She turn her head around again making fluffy hair bounced. I grab her hair feeling the fluff.
"Mafu mafu..." I mumbled. I'm happy because I have fluffy friend...
Heine's P.O.V.
I left Kai Ouji's room as soon as I noticed that his highness and Lannie are being friendly to each other. The prince have improved his communicating skills and it looks like he's having fun chatting with Lannie. On the other hand, it's rare for Lannie being talkative to new people.
"Papa, you've been with Marie here right?" Leine asked while changing the sheets of my bed. I nodded at her with a hum. "Have you notice that our emotionless Marie becomes hyper around Bruno Ouji?" I stopped at writing my report to look at her and raise an eyebrow. "You haven't noticed? I saw her earlier having a normal conversation with his highness. And by normal, I mean a conversation normal people would have."
"Are you saying that it's better for Marie to be with Bruno Ouji?" I ask and she smile widely and nod. "Well, just don't think it romantically." I warned her knowing Marie can be very offensive when it comes to romance.
"Too late, I'm gonna root for them. They're so cute together." She said fantasizing something. Unnoticed by Leine, Marie opened the door coming in and stare at her.
"Who're cute together?" Marie asked her. Leine didn't move a muscle while fantasies are still written on her face. I sigh and go back on writing the report.
"Adele Hime and Heine Sensei." I heard Leine answered. I just ignore her tease.
"You knew that Heine Sensei is not a pervert." Marie stated to Leine. I saw Leine's grin from the corner of my eye.
"But think about it, Marie. A beautiful little princess and a cute little professor." Leine said. I put down the pen when I heard she spoke the word 'little'. I glare at her seeing her playful smile.
"Leine, let me remind you that I'm a full grown man and also your father." I told her only receiving a sudden hug from her.
"How did I become a daughter of a father this cute and small?" She squeal. I felt something heavy on my back when I heard the word 'small' making me slouch. Leine let go of me when we heard someone came in. I sat back properly seeing Lannie with an embarrass expression.
"What happened between you and Kai Ouji?" I asked and her face become more embarrass.
"Marie, something is definitely going on with Lannie and Kai Ouji." Leine said leaning on Marie's ear.
"Well, something is also definitely going on with you and Licht Ouji, Leine." Lannie raised her voice from embarrassment.
"You're just embarrassed, Lannie. Who would think of me and Licht Ouji? We're not close unlike Marie and Bruno Ouji." Leine said with a smirk.
"I beg your pardon?" Marie pipe up. Now I have to quiet them down. I cough catching their attention.
"Sorry..." the three said in unison.
"I believe you three still has a lot of other duties to do than arguing." I said and they all went outside my room walking away in different directions. "They are all helpful and troublesome at the same time." I sigh before finishing the report.
