Hi guys. I am very excited to keep writing because we only have a few more chapters of plot before we can get back into some exciting scenes. I'm excited. Plus you guys are amazing and keep encouraging me to carry on.

Nico POV
The few days after the battle passed quickly in a blur of funerals, tears and remembrance. But soon the camp shifted back into its usual busy self, though the somber feeling remained. We were at war after all.
We, the immortal campers, had been tasked with training the demigods and with the extra sessions we barely got a moment of rest. That meant that I had, had to leave Percy alone frequently and eventually he got bored and came to find me. I realised it would probably do him good to be out of his room and in the camp, but I couldn't help feeling sorry for him. I just wanted to take the son of Poseidon away and hide him from everyone.
It had been five days since the battle and the campers' skills were slowly improving. They were certainly taking training a lot more seriously now.
"Keep your sword higher Justin, you're going to get decapitated fighting like that." Leo shouted to one of the sparring pairs. We were currently leading a close combat class, mainly specialising in swords but there were a few dagger wielders.
The son of Hephaestus was stood on the benches to be able to see the entire arena while I milled around the groups giving pointers. Meanwhile Percy was laid on a bench a few sets behind Leo, playing with some water. I could tell that he wasn't really interested in anything he was doing, or what we were doing for that matter, he just didn't want to be alone in his room.
"Eyes up Stacy." I told a daughter of Aphrodite as I stopped to watch their fight. "I know you're looking at his feet for the tells, which you need to cut out by the way, Jamie. But you need to keep an eye on what he is doing with his arms as well. It's difficult but you need to watch both at once."
After making sure they were truly following my instructions and giving a few more pointers, I moved on to the next set of campers. My circuit of the room took twenty minutes, but eventually I reached the benches again.
"Is it time for them to finish yet?" I asked Percy. "They're shattered." He tossed his ball of water to the side, where it floated eerily, so that he could check his watch. "Fifteen minutes." He replied, finally sitting up.
I groaned internally before calling the campers to gather around.
"Ok, we have fifteen minutes left campers. So, everyone on my right you are one team and everyone on the left you are the other team – we are going to have a mock battle. If you get what would be a fatal or incapacitating hit, you are to come and sit on the benches." I told them. "You have two minutes to organise your team and be ready to fight. Go!"
With that I sat down on the bench next to Percy, who was talking to Leo. "Nice plan, Nico. Good way to change up their training." The Latino praised. "Thanks, they seemed to be bored of sparring so I just thought this could be the last thing." I replied. "Are you going to help us watch of cheaters Perce?"
"Yeah sure." He replied nonchalantly before returning to his previous conversation. Leo and Percy had become fast friends as my training was usually with him, although I did have some monster classes with Annabeth – but Percy didn't come to those, he usually did his own training.
As worried as I was about Leo being too much for Poseidon's son, his outgoing attitude seemed to be drawing Percy out of his shell. I was glad – it was almost like he was back to normal at times.
"Twenty seconds!" Leo suddenly called out. I wasn't sure if that was right, but I went with it. The campers rushed to get into their battle formations and waited for us to call it.
"GO!" Leo yelled, jumping from his seat before assuming his original position as if he hadn't moved. I just shook my head, used to his hyperactive antics and watched the fight.
The room was full of the dull thudding of the wooden swords meeting each other as the first campers began to 'die'. Occasionally, Leo or I called someone out if they had been hit but hadn't come to sit down but there wasn't really much for us to do. Percy seemed to be studying the fight intensely but didn't say anything.
I figured I should leave him to it. No doubt if there was something wrong, he would tell me later on.
The fight took a little longer than I had expected as the sides had been very evenly matched. However, as the class was supposed to end there were only two campers left so I decided to leave them and see who would win.
One was the son of Ares and the other a son of Athena. In terms of fighting skill, the Ares camper should have easily won by now, but Athena's child was surprisingly nimble and able to predict his strikes. "Come fight me you coward!" the son of Ares roared, finally getting annoyed.
He had been hit a few times, but only by what would have been small scratches, so he wasn't out yet, while the son of Athena had not been touched. This building annoyance was leading to the Ares boy swinging unpredictably and wildly. And, while this wasn't a good technique, it was making it harder of his opponent to dodge his sword.
Percy leaned forwards on the bench, apparently interested in the fight, and the demigods on the benches below us were going wild, yelling for their team's fighter.
The son of Ares, Jonah I think, swung at the other boy's legs but he easily jumped over the blade and ran around him trying to stab his back. But Jonah turned quicker than he expected and smashed his blade into the out stretched sword, sending it flying across the room. He had won.
But he carried on, and, before anyone could move directed a powerful blow towards the Athena camper's neck. I tried to stand up and shouted for him to stop but it was too late, he would have already hit. However, his sword suddenly stopped mid swing.
Upon closer inspection I noticed a thin layer of water around the wooden sword and turned to look at the son of the sea beside me. He was seething.
In a flash he was on his feet and walking down the benches, the campers moving out of the hero's way. "How dare you attack him like that." His quiet anger was worse than yelling. "Your opponent was beaten. This is not war in here, he is your fellow camper! You could have broken his neck with that force or worse." Percy finally reached the two boys and the Athena camper hurried away while Jonah stepped back in fear.
"He is your ally, not your enemy! You need to learn to control your anger or you will never become a good warrior or a hero." He continued seething. "Now get out." The boy hurried away, trying not to anger the son of Poseidon any more.
I quickly dismissed the other campers and they followed suit, having heard their hero for the first time.
As soon as they had left, I went over to Percy, who was still stood in the centre of the arena.
"Are you ok?" I asked him. But from one look in his eyes I knew he wasn't, the anger was slowly disappearing and turning into fear. "They're not ready for this war." He told me miserably. "I'm surprised that most of those campers survived the last battle, they can barely hold out against each other never mind a monster. If a hell hound were to attack then, only a few of them would have been able to take it down without being purely lucky."
"We won't win this war." He finally whispered. "Hey. Come on Perce, have a little faith. They were some of the least prepared campers. Remember we already won one battle." I told him reassuringly, looking him straight in the eyes. I knew that he was scared but without hope we were as good as gone. "Elpis is still in Pandora's pithos, don't release her now."
Percy just chuckled without mirth. "I'm honestly shocked that I didn't give up in the last Titan war, just hope that no one gives me that damned jar now Nico. I honestly don't know what I would do."
"Why don't you help us train them then?" A voice piped up from behind him. "They respect you and look up to you, you're a living legend. Your help could mean all the difference." Leo told the son of Poseidon, finally reaching where we were stood.
Percy looked down for a moment, silent. I wasn't sure what his answer would be. I knew he was doing better around people, but he still wasn't back to normal - and I wasn't sure that he ever would be.
Eventually the raven haired boy looked up. "I suppose I do know the most about fighting the titans. I mean I've spent much more time around them than anyone else." He turned to look at Leo. "Ok, I'll help. But I want to be with either you two or Jason or Piper."
"Deal." I told him. I was over joyed, the campers' spirits were low at the minute and finally getting to talk to a true hero might just be the push they needed to start truly winning against the monsters.
Last time we had survived the battle, next time I intended to win.
Percy POV
I was nervous at the idea of starting to get back into camp life, but I think I was finally ready for it. I had spent long enough holed up in the big house avoiding everyone I could. And I had become friends with some of my old friends again. Maybe it was time to see the rest of the campers.
I pondered this as we headed to the big house to tell Chiron that I would be joining the others in training the campers. But there was a bigger question on my mind.
It had been ok staying in the big house, but it wasn't very homely. I didn't think that I could stay there for a long time, it wasn't really mine. And if I was trying to get back into camp life now, then surely the best way to do that would be to be around them more often.
"Hey Leo," I said, once there was a break in conversation. "has my father had any more kids since me?" I knew it was a strange question, but it was important for what I was planning on doing.
"Not that I'm aware of." The son of Hephaestus answered. "There have been none of his children at camp, and I doubt that they just didn't make it because Poseidon's been grieving. He rarely even left his palace, so I doubt he had time for that sort of activity."
"He did bless your little sister though." Nico stated. "She didn't come to camp as he didn't give her many abilities, just your basic talking to fish and horses and being able to breathe under water. I think it was a gift to Sally really."
I nodded but said nothing. Thinking of my old family was tough, but I knew that my mum and Paul had wanted a baby when I left so I really wasn't that surprised when Nico had first told me about their daughter.
I just hoped that one day I might be able to track down my family's line - if we won this war. I knew I couldn't tell them who I was, but I just wanted to see them.
Not long after we reached the big house and found Chiron sat on the porch with Mr D. When I had first seen him at camp I was confused because he was supposed to have finished his time here by now, but Nico told me that he had been given fifty more years for insulting his father. So, he had some time left yet.
"Ah, Percy" Chiron started when he saw me. "how are you? I noticed you've been going to the arena a lot recently." I smiled at him, no matter what had changed Chiron was always the same. "I'm doing better."
"That's actually what we came to talk to you about." Nico inputted. "We were hoping that you would be able to add Percy on to the training schedule, he wants to help out."
"Of course," the centaur beamed "I'm sure the campers will much appreciate your help."
The other two turned to leave but halted as I said "There is one more thing."
The gathered group turned to look at me. Hoping I was making the right choice, I spoke quickly before I could stop myself. "I was wondering if I could move back into Cabin 3?" Everything seemed to go silent.
"Yes, get out of the Big House." Dionysus broke the silence. "Old Barnacle Beard hasn't had any more kids, so it'll be just how you left it." I turned around and smiled at Nico, he was grinning back at me.
After a few more words to Chiron, Nico and I said goodbye to Leo and went up the stairs to collect the few things that I had in my room. It wasn't long until I was stood facing the door of Cabin 3.
I could feel that the passing campers were looking at me, but I couldn't bring myself to open the door. "You ok?" the son of Hades asked with a frown. "Yeah, it's just..." I began. "I don't know. I don't know why I've not opened it already."
"Percy if you aren't ready to do this you don't have to." He told me, turning me around to face him. I could see the worry in his eyes, Nico would truly let me do whatever I wanted to do. "No." I steeled my nerves. "No, I want to do this."
Without wasting any more time, I turned around and opened the door. It was a bit stiff but apart from that it was ok.
I took a few steps inside and stopped. It looked exactly how I remembered it.
The pale blue walls were still the same and I'm sure if I walked around the sandy floor boards would creek in just the same places. The same noise of trickling water came from a beautiful fountain in the corner of the room. And two bunk beds were set against the far wall.
One had a few blue prints and metal pieces dotted around near it from when Tyson used to stay at camp. For the first time I wondered where he was. I knew that Cyclops's has long life spans and they were technically monsters so they would be reborn in Tartarus. But I didn't know if Tyson was still alive, or if he had been reborn or what had happened. I needed to find out what had happened to my brother at some point.
Shaking myself out of my thoughts I moved towards the other bed. Next to it on the table was a horn, I remembered it was from the Minotaur – the first monster I ever fought. I placed my bundle of belongings on the bed and sat down, Nico followed.
"Are you ok?" He asked carefully.
"Yeah, it's just how I remember it right down to the smallest details. I bet if I look in the dresser my clothes will even be in it." I laughed.
"Probably," the son of Hades told me. "The harpies kept it clean, in your memory and so that Poseidon didn't smite the whole camp, but we made sure that they didn't move anything. Not unless we got confirmation that you were truly gone." I smiled at that and went to check around the cabin.
There were a few things that I wanted to get rid of, pictures that no longer brought good memories and such. But eventually, Nico convinced me to just put them in a drawer out of sight in case I ever wanted them.
He also told me that I could have my own cabin/house made near the rest of the immortal campers if I wanted. But I decided that I would be fine in Cabin 3 for at least the duration of the war, if not longer. Afterall, it's not like I had any siblings in here with me the place was basically mine anyway and the immortal campers' cabins weren't far away if I wanted to go see them.
Nico and I spent the rest of the afternoon lounging in or around the cabin. But after a few hours the conch shell sounded for the campers to make their way to the pavilion for tea.
"Am I bringing your food back here then, or do you want to come with me?" Nico asked standing up and heading to the door. "I would come with you but Ann... you know." I still couldn't even say her name.
The son of Hades walked back towards me and pulled me to my feet. Still not letting go of my hand he said "she's on watch tonight, she won't be there. So, do you want to come?" happily I nodded and allowed him to pull me out of the door before we raced to the pavilion.
So, Percy if finally settling back into camp living and pushing himself. I know some people might be annoyed with how quickly it happens, but don't worry he is still going to be on the side lines of the things he does, and I think any longer would be dragging the story out too much. But that might just be me.
(Also I don't know why I forgot to put something on the bottom of the last chapter, but I'm not going to edit it now.)
Anyway, please review and let me know what you think. See ya.
