The Three L's - Lies, Loyalty, & Love

Chapter 1: The Truth

Sachiko wasn't sure what to think. 'The future?' She began to go through her memories of fifteen years ago.

She pondered to herself. 'There were countless moments of maturity and utter brilliance he displayed.' BUT if there was one moment that came to mind it was…

"Satoru." She said as she regained her composure.

He straightened up at hearing his name.

"Was it the night during dinner when you started crying about your recorder?" His eyes popped out of his head. 'She is a witch!' He shook his head. 'Why am I even surprised that she figured it out.' He sighed.

"Yes, that's the day I came back." He confirmed. "That was the first time I was brought back that far."

Sachiko looked him in the eye. "First time?"

He sighed. "Yes, let me just say that I failed to save Kayo from being murdered...again." He readjusted his glasses. She raised her brows.

"There's no reason for me to go into detail about any of that." He stretched out his arms and yawned before explaining.

"I call this ability revival. It originally only had the ability to bring me back between one to five minutes into the past when something bad was about to happen." He looked away from her for a second.

"Before I was brought back to 1988, it was the first time something bad DID happen." She nodded slowly. "And strangely anytime revival occurs and I should have been hurt or even died in preventing the incident I wind up perfectly fine."

She took in his words. "So tell me what happened that caused you to go back as far as you did?"

Satoru squeezed the bed sheets and gritted his teeth. "Well, one night when you came to visit me and I found you…" He paused remembering his mother's cold corpse that night. "One night I found you...dead."

Sachiko was once again caught of guard. "Dead?" He nodded.

"Yeah...you were killed by the same man that tried to kill me and after that I was plunged into the past." He figured there was no reason for him to be too detailed about that as well. "The point was you knew who he was and connected it to the murders that happened when I was a child."

She merely nodded again unsure what to say.

"I am grateful you know." He looked at his hands unable to look at his mother.

"Grateful for what Satoru?" She questioned.

"I was both relieved and happy to see you alive." He offered her a weak smile.

"At that moment I knew I needed to save those that died in the past in order to avoid that kind of future." He looked her straight in the eyes. "And so far I have succeeded! I am only sorry that I let you suffer for as long as you have Mom."

She walked over to him and hugged him. "It's okay and this time you aren't alone."

With a determined look in his eyes. "I know I'm not and this time we are going to catch him."

She smiled at him. " Of course we will." She gave a wink and a thumbs up. "So mind telling me who is this scumbag that nearly murdered my child?"

He gritted his teeth. "Yashiro."

They spent the rest of the day discussing more about the phenomenon known as Revival and the plan to capture his former teacher.

She couldn't believe what she was thinking. 'I am a mother and wife!'

She had found herself thinking about how she ended up moment word got out about Satoru's accident she lost it.

To her it was impossible! 'In that moment I couldn't believe that my knight in shining armor had almost been killed.'

She remembered going to the hospital to visit him with her grandmother. 'Sachiko was barely holding it together.' And who could blame her. 'I would be a wreck if anything happened to my son.'

She allowed herself to smile weakly. 'He felt so warm.' As she blushed at the memory. 'I held his hand thinking he would magically wake up because I was there...but it was all for naught.'

That day had been difficult because she couldn't think of anything to do for him. 'And then Misato thought of the fundraiser.' She thought more about Misato.

'She never gave up on him...even now.' Kayo believed if anyone deserved to be with Satoru right now it was her. 'The only reason she hasn't been able to see him is because she is outside of the country.'

She sighed. 'It doesn't matter now.' She knew she had to do the right thing and let her feelings go. 'This was the decision I made a while ago and it's one that I will have to stick with.'

The cries of her child woke her from her stupor. 'Time to feed my baby.' As she got up and did just that.

Everything was set up and this was the moment. He saw his opportunity to wheel himself towards the edge of the building. Yashiro was wrapping up his plan to make it look like Satoru committed a murder suicide. He pushed the wheels as hard as he could! He moved towards the open gate, but...

He was caught by Yashiro and Satoru gritted his teeth.

"Did you really think you could get away from me in a wheelchair?" Yashiro laughed.

'I wasn't expecting to get caught like this!' Satoru began to sweat.

"Did you really think I was trying to make a break for it?" He forced a cocky smile on his face. "I mean look around you. The only place I could get away from you is through that door."

As he pointed at said door. "And you are blocking it off. Also, the only other option would be jumping off this building, which in fact would be helping you with your plan." Satoru forced a laugh out.

Yashiro eyed him. Then he looked around the roof and saw the open gate. He eyed it suspiciously.

'Hmm. That's odd that the gate was left open.' As he started to push Satoru towards the open gate at edge of the building.

Satoru was sure this was it. 'He's going to push me off the building, so the plan can still work.' But as soon as they made it to the edge Yashiro closed the gate instead.

A maniacal smile graced Yashiro's face. "Is there any reason why that was open Satoru?"

Satoru couldn't hide the surprise on his face as Yashiro looked over the edge and saw his mother and friends.

He started laughing. "It seems like this time I knew your future Satoru." He mocked.

Satoru couldn't believe it. 'Getting caught with the cell phone was supposed to put him at ease and not make him so perceptive to his surroundings.'

Yashiro pulled out a knife. Satoru's eyes went wide.

"I guess we will have to make it look like you committed seppuku, which was the real plan all along." Yashiro bragged.

Satoru's body froze in fear as he watched Yashiro's arms go over his head.

'Come on! Move damn it!' As Satoru remained motionless.

"Goodbye Satoru." He heard Yashiro whisper in his ear as he watched him bring the blade back towards him. The knife pierced his abdomen.

Blood came gushing out of his mouth as he felt Yashiro run the blade slowly across his belly.

His vision started to fade in and out as he thought to himself. 'It feels so different from nearly drowning in that river.'

He could no longer hear anything. He couldn't feel anything anymore. This was it. He failed everyone. 'In the end, Yashiro got away.'
